ZooeyModeratorAccording to PFF, OL Kevin Dotson is currently tied for the top-graded offensive lineman (88.9)
And they got him for nothing.
Hopefully, he will re-sign.
ZooeyModeratori’m convinced that with him, stafford, higbee, coop, nacua, atwell, and a blue chip offensive tackle this could be a top notch offense.
Me, too, although so far the Kupp/Nacua pairing has not produced anything special.
Sample size: small. Plus injuries in places. So we are far from losing hope.
ZooeyModeratorWell, now it’s Dick Cheney’s turn.
ZooeyModeratorI think many Rams fans are underestimating how tough the Browns are. Great defense, really physical offensive and defensive lines, and the Rams usually don’t play well against physical teams (see the last 8 or 9 games against SF). I don’t care who their starting QB is – beating them will be a tall task.
It’s the Browns. The Cleveland Browns.
It’s not that they aren’t capable of beating the Rams. It’s just that they aren’t capable of it.
ZooeyModeratorWelp, saw quite a bit of the Dallas/SD game tonight, and I must say…those are two pretty mediocre football teams, if this was representative.
That post didn’t age particularly well.
ZooeyModeratorPlayoff hopes are over if they lose to the Browns. It’s a long shot anyway, as the Rams have to win at least 4 of their 6 remaining games.
We can chalk up 2 losses before kickoff: BAL and SF.
That leaves them no margin. Cleveland and NO are going to be struggles.

ZooeyModeratorIf you had told me before the game that Kupp would finish with 18 yards/0 TDs, and Nacua with 27 yards/0 TDs, I would not have expected a game dominated by the Rams which was basically over by halftime.
It wasn’t a pretty game, but this may have been an important game in the Rams’ development.
It’s only the Cardinals, but the Rams just thumped an NFL team the old fashioned way, with rushing and TEs. That bodes well. When Stafford, Kupp, and Nacua figure out how to co-exist, this offense will again be near the top of the league.
And Kyren Williams looks like the Rams’ next star.
Props to Atwell for a couple of nice grabs.
And the Browns game is winnable, imo. And they may need that game to make up for the Steelers game. DeShaun Watson and Nick Chubb are out. Amari Cooper and Myles Garrett are questionable.
The Rams need to win 4 of the remaining 6 games to have a shot at a wildcard date. With the Ravens and 9ers both on the schedule, the rest of the games are kinda “must win,” though I think the Steelers and Packers probably cost the Rams that extra week of football.

ZooeyModeratorHis planned veteran rest days — which were installed well before Donald even hit his prime years — originated from an effort by coaches to get offensive linemen productive practice work without worrying about him on every play.
This was my favorite bit from that excellent piece that was a joy to read.
ZooeyModeratorRams Brothers@RamsBrothersDerion Kendrick was the 212th pick in the 2022 draft (6th round). His numbers from yesterday are pretty staggering as a 2nd year guy. Per @PFF: targeted 8 times, allowed 3 receptions for 21 yards. Had the game-winning INT and allowed a 6.3 passer rating. Did he earn a second chance in your eyes? Durant was out and DK had a ton of responsibility with Seattle’s WR corpsI don’t know what to make of Kendrick. I think it would be great if he would eliminate bonehead penalties, though. I thought the roughing call against him yesterday was a bad call, but not terrible. It was borderline, but I thought it was “necessary.” The guy wasn’t going down, and DK had to increase his leverage and force.
Taunting after the INT, though. That was inexcusable, and the guy just seems to have a knack for getting flagged.
But he’s also fairly effective, seems to me. I don’t have his rankings in front of me, so I dunno. But it seems to me that his mistakes have come at bad times, so that magnifies it when he gets beaten. I think if he would just knock off the penalties, he would seem worthy of being a starter.
ZooeyModeratorMy son told me that Kupp had two drops all of last season. He had two in the GB game (I think it was GB), and we’ve seen him make that catch that would’ve been a TD yesterday. That was not an easy catch, but I’ve been trained to expect Kupp to make that every time.
He’s off. Higbee is off. And Stafford is off.
I know why, but I’m not telling you guys. Not for free anyway. Hit the Subscribe button, and I’ll reveal the answer.
ZooeyModeratorNot sure the Rams win that game if Aaron Donald doesnt knock out the starting QB for that critical stretch. Wont show up as a sack or anything other than a hit, but that was probly a game-saver. w v
So you condone physical violence then?

ZooeyModeratorRams Brothers@RamsBrothers Brycen Hopkins, Davis Allen and Hunter Long can surely drop passes and miss in-line blocks, too. Why not let them get the reps at this point?
Higbee is hurt. He didn’t forget how to play football. But…what is going on?
ZooeyModeratorThat was not a good game. The Rams won, but I still think the Rams are less impressive now than they were before Kupp returned. It’s weirdish – I know not.
All I know is that we won’t see Nittany here this week. Probably stung him quite a lot.
ZooeyModeratorYeah. It’s inexplicable.
The Rams are better without Kupp.
That sentence makes no sense.
ZooeyModeratorYeah, Jackson was about as “robbed” as a player can get. Practically Archie Manning-level of robbed.

Probably made an inappropriate Thanksgiving joke to him.

She chose the wrong words.
You know…the thing is…even if the sideline reporters didn’t make up the shit the coaches “said,” then all that means is that the coaches made up the shit that the coaches said.
Lost in the media coverage of this is the fact that sideline reporters don’t actually ever say anything of value anyway, apart from injury reports – which nobody needs a sideline reporter for.
Sideline reporters aren’t reporters. They’re showbiz, and the big sin committed here is openly acknowledging that sideline reporters are useless.
ZooeyModerator“The grass is already being grown,” says COO Kevin Demoff of the natural grass playing fields the Rams will install at the new/temporary facilities. Hope is to get transitioned by offseason programming but team won’t hold training camp here in the short term.
would it be that much harder or more expensive to just have grass fields in sofi stadium?
I’ve been wondering that from the start. It CAN be done. the question really is “Is it cost effective?” The intention is to use sofi for all kinds of events, including concerts and probably monster truck thingies etc. Stuff that lawns won’t be compatible with. So the grass would have to be interchangeable with other “flooring,” and where are you going to put a football field when it’s not in the stadium?

ZooeyModeratorI used to start my Sundays by watching the pre-game show.
Haven’t tuned into one in decades. They are completely unwatchable to me. I can’t even picture the demographic that actually does watch that crud.
They extended the pre-game shows from 1/2 hour to a full hour, and they have less content. I dunno.
ZooeyModeratorOh, and am I all alone in despising the 17 game schedule?
Professional football, as we know it, ceased to exist when John Facenda died.
Anybody who lives to be 50-years old automatically joins the Get Off My Lawn (GOML) club. There should be 14 games, grass stains, and mud. The Colts, Browns, and Steelers should be in the NFC, and at least a dozen QBs should be wearing ankle boots. The Falcons helmet should be red, the Cardinals should be in the NFC East, and Howard Cosell should narrate the only highlights anyone can ever watch. Also, the Vikings should be obliterated.
ZooeyModerator
ZooeyModeratorbut Wolford was promoted to that team’s 53-man roster and could not be poached.
The first version of this that I read made it sound like Wolford declined the Rams.(Can they even do that?)
ZooeyModeratorNo football for me.
A plumber stuck a camera down my sewer line, and found roots. Under the driveway. He told us that it would cost around $4,000 to have a guy repair it.

So I rented a concrete saw and a jack hammer. Dug a hole.

Weird thing: there had been a previous repair. There was a Y piece inserted in this spot. No idea why. The cleanout is about 6 feet up the line from this, and this is in the driveway. The roots had created a knot that filled the pipe, and extended about 6” in each direction. I cut away the knot with a garden trowel, and was rewarded with a “sewage geyser” that shot about 18” in the air.
After the water drained, I shoveled out the sewage. One part of the “Y” was completely broken off, leaving the entire 4” aperture wide open. And I can’t figure this out. Nobody would put a broken piece into a line, but there was absolutely no broken pieces around (in the event the roots actually broke the Y). After pondering this mystery for a bit, I decided that the roots must have broken the Y, and I had probably washed down broken pieces when I had snaked the line previously on a few occasions. But then I realized that the end of the Y would have been capped, and the cap would have been too large to fall through the hall. And it wouldn’t have been broken into pieces. The roots wouldn’t have broken the Y, anyway. They had room to expand up and down the line. It could have cracked the Y, but broken it into small enough pieces to fall into the line? I don’t know what happened here. Total mystery. But it’s fixed now.

ZooeyModeratorA lot of people out there talk about how bad Rypien was and there’s no disputing that. But honestly we’ve seen worse. Which is not being said as a defense of Rypien. In 2009 Keith Null had 1 game w/ 5 INTs & another w/ 3. In the 5 INT game he earned a qb rating of 38.7 (50.0 in the 3 INT game). Against GB, Rypien earned a qb rating of 49.5. Chris Chandler threw 6 INTs in 1 game (2004). Foles’s worst games in 2015 were particularly bad (in 1 game he completed 11 of 30 w/ qb rating of 23.7) Foles and Null were both playing with Steven Jackson. Chandler had both Faulk and Jackson.
He says with relish.
Camel hair pants, too.
ZooeyModeratorI’m actually against drafting a qb high this year. Though I understand the argument for doing it.
I didn’t know that you are one of those fans who actually liked the “Between Good Quarterbacks” phases in the 90s and 00s.
By the way, where do you get all your camel hair shirts?
ZooeyModeratorWell, Im just an idiot-fan, and I know i know nothing, but this ‘could’ have been a wildcard-year. The NFC middle-tier teams are pretty mediocre as per usual. So, i just dont understand how you dont sign Wentz at the beginning of the year. Assuming he was available. (was he?) I mean, Stafford is elite, but we know he’s breaking down. He does not have a Brady body. If Wentz had been the backup from day one, they win that Packer game and are in the wildcard hunt.
Yeah, that pencils out, as far as I can tell.
I mean…Rypien looked worse than TJ Rubley. That was some awful quarterbacking, and I think the man’s career is over.
