L.A. reportedly traded 2025 undrafted free agent tight end Mark Redman to the Green Bay Packers, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Terms of the deal were not immediately reported.

Redman, 24, was on the Rams’ practice squad in 2025 after playing at Louisville in 2024.

After two weeks of training camp, three preseason games, two joint practices and an entire offseason of work, the Los Angeles Rams have finally trimmed their roster down to 53 players. On paper, they’re arguably the best team in the NFL, boasting a star-studded starting lineup and a collection of backups who could probably be first-stringers on other teams.

That made for some incredibly difficult decisions, but on Sunday, they announced their initial 53-man roster. They kept three quarterbacks and a stockpile of wide receivers, as well as an abundance of offensive line depth – a necessity with some uncertainty surrounding multiple players.

On defense, the Rams are equally loaded, headlined by Myles Garrett, Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson. Oh, and Aaron Donald is back, too.

Here’s a look at their 53-man roster.

Quarterback (3)

Starter: Matthew Stafford
Backups: Stetson Bennett, Ty Simpson

Sean McVay said the Rams were going to keep three quarterbacks, and that’s exactly what they did. Now to find out who the No. 2 guy will be…

Running back (3)

Starter: Kyren Williams
Backups: Blake Corum, Ronnie Rivers

Trading away Jarquez Hunter changed this group a little bit, leaving the Rams with only three running backs on the 53-man roster. They’ll likely try to get Dean Connors and/or Jordan Waters back on the practice squad, but that’s not guaranteed.

Wide receiver (7)

Starters: Puka Nacua, Davante Adams
Backups: Jordan Whittington, Konata Mumpfield, Tutu Atwell, Xavier Smith, CJ Daniels

The Rams are stocked with talent at wide receiver, even if their WR3 isn’t as clear-cut as some other teams. The Rams have options with Whittington, Mumpfield, Atwell and Smith.

Tight end (5)

Starters: Colby Parkinson, Tyler Higbee, Terrance Ferguson
Backup: Davis Allen, Max Klare

This has been the tight end group all along, and though Parkinson is probably the No. 1 option, all five could play meaningful snaps this season.

Offensive line (9)

Starters: LT Alaric Jackson, LG Steve Avila, C Coleman Shelton, RG Kevin Dotson, RT Warren McClendon Jr.
Backups: OT David Quessenberry, G/C Beaux Limmer, Dylan McMahon, Bill Murray

Justin Dedich and rookie Keagen Trost were both placed on injured reserve, which is why the Rams are carrying both McMahon and Murray on the initial 53.

Defensive line (6)

Starters: Kobie Turner, Poona Ford, Aaron Donald
Backups: Braden Fiske, Tyler Davis, Ty Hamilton

The Rams surprisingly announced Donald’s return just hours before the roster deadline, officially welcoming the defensive tackle back to Los Angeles. They were already loaded up front but now with Donald joining Turner and Ford as the starters, the defensive line might be the best in football.

With Donald back, rookie Tim Keenan III loses his roster spot.

Outside linebacker (5)

Starters: Myles Garrett, Byron Young
Backups: Josaiah Stewart, Desjuan Johnson, Wesley Bailey

Garrett and Young will play the majority of the snaps this season, but Stewart is as good a young backup as a team could ask for. He has the potential to rack up five-plus sacks in a rotational role behind Garrett and Young.

Bailey makes the team as an undrafted rookie after dominating in the preseason and impressing his coaches.

Inside linebacker (4)

Starters: Nate Landman, Omar Speights
Backups: Shaun Dolac, Grant Stuard

Dolac and Stuard are mostly going to be special teams players, though they’re also decent backups behind Landman and Speights.

Cornerback (4)

Starters: Trent McDuffie, Jaylen Watson
Backups: Emmanuel Forbes Jr., Josh Wallace

What a difference a year makes. McDuffie and Watson stand at the top of the depth chart as the primary starters, with Forbes being the top backup behind them. It’s a significantly better unit than what Chris Shula had to work with last year.

Safety (4)

Starters: Quentin Lake, Kam Curl, Kamren Kinchens
Backup: Jaylen McCollough

The safety group is a talented, versatile one that features three legitimate starters and a backup in McCollough who’s essentially a hybrid safety-linebacker in the middle of the field.

Special teams (3)

K Harrison Mevis
P Ethan Evans
LS Joe Cardona

The Rams should feel good about their core special teamers this season, so long as Mevis picks up where he left off last season.

Rams trim roster to 53 players

Not to be lost on the day Donald made his return, the Rams met the league’s deadline to trim their roster to 53 players for the start of the season.

The big winner of that wave was Wesley Bailey. The undrafted free agent out of Louisville had an explosive preseason, including a performance against the New Orleans Saints in which he recorded 10 pressures, four quarterback hits, a sack, a tackle for loss and a forced fumble. Add in his explosive measurables from pre-draft testing, and it was clear the Rams would not be able to get him through waivers and back onto the practice squad. So they decided to keep him on a defensive line that already needed room for Donald.

It led to some challenging cuts elsewhere, such as cornerback Cam Lampkin and running back Dean Connors. The Rams did clear up two roster spots by placing their top two reserve offensive linemen on injured reserve to begin the season: guard Justin Dedich (hand) and third-round rookie tackle Keagen Trost (hamstring). Both players must miss the first four games of the season as part of the move.

Los Angeles did acquire a 2028 seventh-round pick in a trade with the Green Bay Packers that sent out tight end Mark Redman. The Rams didn’t have room for Redman after drafting Max Klare in the second round and keeping five tight ends among their 53 players.

The Rams decided to keep seven wide receivers among the 53 after trading with the Miami Dolphins for Tutu Atwell, who spent his first five seasons in Los Angeles before signing with the Dolphins in free agency. That trade sent out running back Jarquez Hunter, who had lost a path to playing time, and the Rams instead kept three running backs on the roster: Kyren Williams, Blake Corum and Ronnie Rivers.

The Los Angeles Rams are just a week away from kicking off their 2026 season in Australia, starting the year with a rivalry game against the San Francisco 49ers. Their 53-man roster is set and on Thursday, the Rams released their first unofficial depth chart of the regular season.

It’s much briefer than the preseason depth chart because there are 37 fewer players on it, and even though it’s unofficial, it’s still useful to see how the team looks heading into Week 1. While it’s not a direct reflection of how the coaching staff views starters and backups, it does show where the Rams are deepest and where they could use some more depth.

The Rams have plenty of talent at wide receiver with seven players on the depth chart, but it’s clear they’re a little thin at offensive tackle. Keagen Trost’s injury makes David Quessenberry the backup at left and right tackle. Tutu Atwell is buried as the No. 7 wide receiver, behind CJ Daniels and Xavier Smith.

At quarterback, Stetson Bennett is penciled in as the backup to Matthew Stafford, though Sean McVay has yet to commit to a QB2 between him and Ty Simpson. As was the case in the preseason, the Rams have four co-starters at tight end: Tyler Higbee, Colby Parkinson, Davis Allen and Terrance Ferguson.

There are no real surprises on defense. Aaron Donald, who was a late arrival after coming out of retirement, replaces Braden Fiske as a starter at defensive end, joining Poona Ford and Kobie Turner up front.

Wesley Bailey is behind Desjuan Johnson, which was to be expected, but he could still be active on game days. Cornerback is obviously a little bit light with only four players, but the talent is unquestionably there with Trent McDuffie, Jaylen Watson, Josh Wallace and Emmanuel Forbes Jr.

Xavier Smith is once again expected to be the punt returner, backed up by Konata Mumpfield. Jordan Whittington and Ronnie Rivers will handle kick returns, as well.
