KW ranks 8th though he missed 4 games.

If he had the same avgs. in the 13 games he played but played all 17 games, he would have either 15  or 16 TDs, which would rank either 2nd or tied for 2nd.

Nittany. The trick in posting a tweet is that for some unknown reason if you put writing in a post with the tweet, you end up with just a url. The trick is to post the tweet then add the writing afterwards via edit. That’s what I do here.

    Ah. Thanks zn.

On this board, tweets act like spoiled older siblings. They always have to go first.

Cutting Brian Allen had to happen for Rams to move forward this offseason. Still tough to see a player get cut. Allen was the Rams starting center on the Super Bowl team. Example of a business decision. Rams get thinner on the OL.

The Rams released veteran center Brian Allen, the team announced. An early cut gives a player a little bit of a head start to land elsewhere. The Rams incur $3.15M in dead money by doing so, but do save $4.9M against the 2024 cap.

The same thought crossed my mind. It’s all the same to Kroenke, of course. Doesn’t much matter who the fans are; the color of the money is green.

It will take a generation to rebuild a dedicated fan base, though they did not start with nothing. And LA will always be LA. It ain’t Green Bay.

LA has 2 NFL teams, 2 MLB, 2 NBA, 2 NHL, 2 MLS, 2 NCAA FB. Never mind all the non-sports attractions. That’s just the competition for sports identity. And LA is so big, it has fans of all those NFL teams there, and if their team shows up in LA once every 8 years, they’re all going to go.

Green Bay, WI just doesn’t have that many “ex-pats” living there.

In any event, that chart is TOTAL attendance, both home and away, it should be noted.

Here is AVERAGE home attendance. I use avg instead of total because some teams had 8 home games (Rams), and some had 9.

(The Rams are at 6, the Chargers at 14).

as well as college sports. usc and ucla being the top two universities. but also pepperdine and others i’m probably forgetting.

but it’s not just the rams. whenever i go to the dodgers cardinals games in la there is a large contingent of cardinals fans. always. i’ve been there when the giants come to town and there’s a swath of giants fans attending. not quite to the degree of rams games but the dodgers are the dodgers. it would take a long time for the rams to reach that kind if status in this town.

The Dodgers own LA. That is just straight up the fact. Even when they were terrible, they drew 3 million fans a year. I think it’s a combination of things. The Dodgers were the first “real” pro team in LA. And although Dodger Stadium is now one of the oldest ballparks in MLB, it’s still among the best places to watch a ballgame. Summer evenings in LA with a baseball game also just dovetails into the LA vibe. It’s a baseball kind of town. Baseball has so many games that there will always be tickets available for fans that travel well (SF and STL). So, sure. But you will NEVER see disproportionate representation at a playoff game like we saw against the 9ers. That would never happen to the Dodgers.

The Rams will never compete with the Dodgers for first place in the hearts of LA. They will never suffer, and never leave LA again, but they will be ignored when they are uncompetitive.

The stadium having a large proportion of fans of the visiting team has always been a thing at LA Rams games, right?  Even in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s – ever since it’s been easy to travel, and it’s always going to be that way no matter what.  LA is a destination city.  Fans from other cities don’t travel there just to see the game.  They also want to see all the attractions.

Now, the embarrassing “60% 9ers fans” BS can and has to end. The Rams should be able to develop a following large enough so that they at least have the majority of fans in any given NFC Championship game they host at SoFi.  But some visiting teams will always have a large contingent of fans in the stands. That’s just the way it is.

The Rams will “connect with” QB Stetson Bennett “at the appropriate time,” Sean McVay said. “And you figure out, ‘All right, where are you at?’ And is this something we feel like is best for him and our football team to bring him back into this ecosystem.”

i could not agree more. whether they suck or whether they’re good dodgers fans will always be there to support their team.

a lot of people say it’s a lakers town but it’s simply not true. i’ve been to lakers games when they sucked and it’s dead. the fans only truly show up when they’re winning championships. but the dodgers? i’ve never been to a dodger game and dodger fans don’t show up. part of it is i think the affordability of games. and the atmosphere. yes. dodger stadium is amazing. it’s great to go to during the summer. take in a game. just soak in all the people in the stadium hanging out and having a good time. drinking a beer. lakers are just a little less accessible. personally i’m not willing to throw down that much cash to see them play. yeah. i agree. there’s just something amazing about socal summers. catching a baseball game. and rams are even less accessible. too much money. it’s too hard to afford anything more than the occasional game every now and then. i bought season tickets the year they came back. but since then i’ve only been to one game because i had to see sofi. just an aside note. la coliseum is amazing. i love that stadium.

i did meet one man. rabid rams fan. had season tickets every year since they came back but followed them since he was a kid. but he hated the dodgers with a passion. i asked him why. apparently he was born and raised in chavez ravine. could never forgive them for taking his home from him.

Where would Andy Reid rank if someone else had drafted Mahomes?

Belichick never won a super bowl as a head coach without Brady.

It gets tricky ‘ranking’ head coaches.

I always thought it was significant that Joe Gibbs won super bowls with three different QBs.   Though, the QB position is probably more important now than it was in Gibb’s day.

    McVay joins competition committee.

    https://www.therams.com/news/sean-mcvay-added-to-nfl-competition-committee#

Rams head coach Sean McVay has been added to the NFL’s Competition Committee, the league announced Thursday.

McVay is one of the committee’s two newest members; Bills head coach Sean McDermott was announced as the other.

According to the NFL Operations website, the Competition Committee reviews all competitive aspects of the game, including (but not limited to) playing rules, roster regulations, technology, game-day operations and player protection.

“Maybe I won’t burn my timeouts in the second half so early, learn about that,” McVay jokingly said during a video conference with reporters Thursday. “Here’s what I will say. I’m humbled and I’m flattered that they would even consider to ask me.

“When you go to these league meetings over the last handful years, I’ve always been interested and intrigued about, ‘Okay, how can you affect positive change? How can you have an understanding of moving the game in the right direction?’ I think there’s coaches and there’s front office members that have done a great job of setting an example, and so when (NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations) Troy Vincent and (NFL Commissioner) Roger Goodell reached out, I was flattered. Kind of wanted to understand, alright, what are some of the commitments? How can I try to be a valuable contributor to that? And certainly looking forward to being able to learn and grow and see if we can help do some good things. But I was certainly flattered to be a part of that.”

The committee uses feedback from a variety of sources, including all 32 NFL teams, to guide its actions. According to its website, each team fills out a survey answering questions about player protection, officiating, competitive balance and technology. NFL Operations then meets with coaches, general managers, players and NCAA representatives leading up to the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis to solicit their input about possible rule changes. Data on injuries, instant replay and technology is also reviewed.

At the league’s annual meeting, the Competition Committee presents a report of its findings to the 32 owners, who then vote on any proposed new rules or rules changes. A new rule or a revision must have the support of 75 percent of the owners (24 yes votes out of 32 teams) in order to be adopted.
