I knew it was a mistake to trust you with this mission.

Please tell me that you got Ty Burrell’s autograph at least.

    xx

Ty Burrell was there, and was sitting about 30 yards from me. Not only are we both Rams fans, but we both graduated from the same theatre program at Southern Oregon University. But I don’t really care about celebrities, and have no desire to own autographs. I’m not sure what they are for, or why I should want them.

When’s the last time you were at the Coliseum, Zooey?

Summer of 1984. I had season tickets to the LA Express ($100 for nine regular season home games, plus pre-season). The last game I attended was the longest game in professional football history – a playoff game against the Michigan Panthers that lasted 93 minutes before the Express won it. They had Steve Young, Jo Jo Townsell, Gary Zimmerman…among others.

When Trump wins despite the entire establishment being against him I will giggle at the howls of pain from the formerly entrenched establishment, of which some deserve time in prison. Obama seems set on issuing pardons to cocaine dealers of late but a former Sec. of State might get one during the interim.

And when Trump loses despite his supporters’ failure to apprehend reality, I will not giggle at their howls of a “rigged election.”

So the next best thing is to return to Keynes.

This nation hasn’t left Keynes and that is the problem. Nearly $20 trillion in debt but to a Keynesian its all la la land.

Okay. Nobody here is going to take that comment seriously. I’m just saying.

Yeah. How is Gary Johnson polling higher than Jill Stein?

Gary Johnson has no idea what the fuck is happening anywhere. He couldn’t find Canada on a map if you erased every continent but North America.

The Bills appear to be without Greg Salas.

    So…

That must be a big blow to their offense. I would think.

I was wondering if they were going to make a move with Sens after he went from starter to not even activated.

You know, this is how bad they wanted to dump CS. It actually costs the Rams cap space to cut him. No savings; they take a 650,000 hit.

    ..

I am not sorry the Sensabaugh era has ended.

He was not my favorite player.

I liked Fox watching him this pre-season. Good for him if he gets some game action. My biggest concern would be Donald.

Gattopardo. I like that word. If I were a novelist, I would write a book with a character named Gattopardo. Hillary Gattopardo. And I would have her run for president on the “most progressive” agenda of All-Time.

Yeah, they are merely sociopathic. But we are used to that in our politicians. In fact, it seems only sociopaths are attracted to the job. Trump, though, isn’t only sociopathic. He is psychopathic as well. As well as ill-informed, incurious, bellicose, narcissistic, chauvinistic, and…(just for you, bnw)…racist.

This man is disgraceful. And it is to this country’s shame that a man who has violated all boundaries of decent behavior can come this close to the presidency. Common courtesy and good manners are in such complete disarray that we apparently no longer expect respectful behavior from anybody. Donald Trump isn’t the only one who is insane, apparently.

    Republican Mentality:

If you’re rich and pay no taxes, you are a genius.

If you’re poor and pay no taxes, you are a moocher.

Way inaccurate. I’m pretty well off and pay a lot in taxes. And I file as single, which as you know, is a higher rate than married\filing jointly. Really, I get screwed. So I search every nook and cranny for deductions. Everyone does.

    Does that make me evil?

For the record, I don’t consider poor, paying no taxes and moocher exclusive. I do believe everyone should pay some tax. Rich, poor, everyone.

Nobody is saying it is illegal, or even ignoble, let alone evil. Those are the rules of the game.

The point is simply that it is hypocritical to claim that if I do it, it makes me smart, but if you do it, you are a freeloading dirtbag.

And that is what Trump is saying. He is smart for not paying taxes, and “Mexicans” are freeloaders who burden the system and should be deported. That is rank hypocrisy, and all the more disgusting coming from a billionaire.

And, btw, illegal immigrants DO pay taxes, and therefore they contribute more to the national coffers than Trump does. So I suggest we deport him.

You guys forget what the locker room and coaches said about Massey. Remember when they said he should spend more time with the playbook and less time reading The Bhagavad Gita?

So he was not without controversy.

    Oh, come ON!

They say that about EVERY player.

best player in the nfl. how many teams can claim that? oh i know. only one…

When the Rams got rid of Massey I thought they’d never see excellence personified like that again.

    And I was right.

    But Donald’s not bad.

It’s funny you should mention that. I’ve been thinking the same thing. I think Aaron Donald is to Chris Massey as Paint-by-Numbers is to Vincent Van Gogh. And that is so far ahead of anybody else, it is mind-boggling.

I have to say, I totally buy his explanation for what he said about Donald. Donald was a rookie, and he was busy with his own coaching, and didn’t see Donald play. He liked his guy, and threw some off-the-cuff comment out there. This is not a thing. Thank god nobody records all the shit I say.

    ESPN First Take

So what I’m hearing is some experts talk who don’t know much of anything about the Rams, or have any idea about how big of a rebuilding project they were, and what obstacles to improving they have faced, or any real idea of their potential.

    Okay.

At least they speak with arrogant self-righteousness. That makes it edgy, and entertaining as hell.

    I’m glad you’re okay.

    And this:

I’m not sure how long the Rams D can keep this pace, but it’s fun to watch. I wish they’d force more 3 and outs, though. The D has a habit of teams marching downfield, and then tightening up in Rams territory. So far, it’s working, but I don’t know how long that will continue. Kinda worries me.

    Yes.

Donald Trump pays less in taxes than illegal immigrants do, but they are freeloaders?

Yes, compared to a man paying taxes his entire life while creating jobs for people to raise even more tax revenue.

Okay. Here’s why that is funny.

First of all, he hasn’t paid taxes his entire life; that’s the whole issue here. And may still not be paying taxes. As you know, he won’t release his returns, and there is a reason for that. Perhaps more than one reason.

Secondly, anybody worth $200,000,000 or more cannot AVOID creating jobs. I mean…it would be nearly impossible NOT to create jobs. The only way he could avoid creating jobs is if he kept his money in cash inside a vault. So job creation isn’t exactly to his credit here.

Thirdly, the jobs he has created are largely in the hospitality industry which is the worst industry for job retention in the country. That is…people HATE those jobs more than any other class of job. The hospitality industry averages an 80% turnover in jobs every damn year, as opposed to an average turnover rate of 45% for the economy as a whole. Those jobs suck to start with, and are relatively poor paying, often minimum wage.

Finally, for a rich guy to say he contributes to the economy by having employees pay taxes while he doesn’t…I don’t even know how you can say that with a straight face. Besides which minimum wage employees don’t earn enough to live on, let alone hit a threshold where they will pay any taxes.

Meanwhile, the government is providing him with all kinds of infrastructure support at taxpayer expense, and picking up the tab for services to his underpaid employees.

You might as well also praise him for creating tax write-offs for all the businesses he contracted and then stiffed. I mean…they get to write those losses off on their taxes, right? What a hero.

Here is what I said in response to Can The Rams Beat San Francisco:

    Yes. Without any nail-biting.

Here is what I said in response to the Seattle poll:

I just have no idea. At all. No hunch of any kind.

Here is what I said about the Tampa game:

    I’m going with No.

Right now the Rams are fortunate to be 1-1. The defense won that game. The offense did everything they could to lose the game except turn over the ball. I don’t expect the Rams to suddenly start scoring multiple TDs on offense, and I think that is what it is usually going to take, especially on the road.

I think the Rams need at least 20 points to win in Tampa, and I don’t see how they are going to get that many.

On Arizona, I had this wisdom to share:

I just don’t see them winning on the road against a very good football team that just got embarrassed last week, and is looking up at a division rival that they hate. The term Must Win is going to flung around, and Arians is a very good coach. The Rams offense hasn’t shown it can compete against a good defense, and the Cards are good.

I hope the Rams don’t get embarrassed.

So since I have been wrong every time I’ve picked a winner, I am going with the Bills. Hands down.

They could be 1-3. And it’s fine to think that they are starting to “make plays,” but I dunno how much faith to put in that. It’s like investing some quality into the Rams, some intangible improvement that is still somewhat reliable going forward, and I’m not so sure of that.

Yeah, I agree. Can’t count on clutch plays.

Running game has to get better, period.

The whole offense is predicated on it. The Rams passing game is neither built for nor capable of carrying this offense. Eventually this whole thing comes crashing down unless the running game improves.

Annnnnnnnnd…of course Nittany comes in and agrees with a Seahawks fan. Typical.

The Rams have turned the corner, man. Definitely. No more 7-9 bullshit. They are taking the division, and Gurley is about to Bust Out.

3-1 is great, but this team has seriously problems that they have gotten away with so far. They could be 1-3. And it’s fine to think that they are starting to “make plays,” but I dunno how much faith to put in that. It’s like investing some quality into the Rams, some intangible improvement that is still somewhat reliable going forward, and I’m not so sure of that.

    Gurley needs to get going.

3rd down conversions are better than the first two weeks, but could still improve.

    Dum penalties need to diminish.

I’d like to see less bending, and more ball control.

    And fewer drops.

They have to handle another team on both sides of the ball before I start believing their record. The Bills could be a good place to start.

First of all, when Adiasor finally graduates, I think he’s worth a second round pick. He’s no Mike Franke, but he looks like he can be a solid starter, and possibly more than that if he adds some strength to his frame.

I noticed that Gurley play live, and thought the same thing, but pretty much forgot about it since he spun off and made a 7 or 8 yard gain out of it. But that is only one play. I don’t think that’s the problem. Aren’t there stats on how soon a guy gets contact? I bet Gurley is getting contact earlier than most backs. I think Boras needs to throw to Gurley more, put Austin in the backfield more, and run some draws. Throwing the guy up the middle again and again isn’t working. Change something.

Finally, why doesn’t somebody watch the game on TV? I assumed they did. The TV audience often knows before the red flag even comes out what the ruling is going to be. Good grief. Those are timeouts you’re burning, and it was clear to us both times that he was going to lose. And it isn’t just the timeouts. It’s the opportunity to challenge another call later. Have a TV feed up there.

If he continues upward from his rookie year, I feel a lot better about the secondary. And if Coty Sensabaugh is inactive, I take that as a good thing.
