Rams are now 10-5 against the Seahawks since Sean McVay became head coach in 2017 (including the playoffs).  Rams are 4-0 against the Seahawks with Matthew Stafford at QB.

If the Seahawks somehow miss the playoffs, look no further than the LA Rams, who just swept the season series for the 2nd time in 3 years.

We have the opportunity to sweep Seattle and Arizona in back to back weeks. In a rollercoaster of a year, that’s a big win for everyone… except the tanking crowd.

John Johnson an early appearance in the secondary, rookie Ochaun Mathis on the field at edge among the wrinkles we saw on defense from the Rams coming out of the bye.

No update yet on Cooper Kupp’s ankle, per Sean McVay. Matthew Stafford saw Kupp in the locker room postgame and indicated he was still going through information-gathering process.

Matthew Stafford’s first 4th quarter comeback since the Super Bowl, 35th career.

His second game-winning drive of 2023, 44th career.

Pretty good stuff after getting cut in half by Mario Edwards late. Didn’t miss a snap.

Celebratory music booming from locker room as Rams celebrate first November win since I believe 2020.

ILB and captain Ernest Jones said that Sean McVay gave game balls to the defensive captains tonight. “We were able to just keep everybody together. I pride myself on, when these guys get down or start second-guessing themselves, I want to lift them up, ‘hey, you’re still a dog,

you’re still a baller.’ This game ball means more to me than most, the most that I’ve ever gotten. I’m thankful.”

The Rams run a long winded trick play… and Stafford gets crushed and throws an interception. Just can’t have plays that last that long unless you’ve got a top tier offensive line

‘This is one of the things that makes him great’: Matthew Stafford brushes off big hit to help rally

    Stu Jackson

    https://www.therams.com/news/matthew-stafford-brushes-off-big-hit-help-rally-rams-to-week-11-win-seahawks

INGLEWOOD, Calif. – For quarterback Matthew Stafford and the Rams, it was a gut-check moment.

    Literally.

Los Angeles was trailing the Seattle Seahawks 16-7 with 14:05 remaining in the fourth quarter when Seahawks defensive end Mario Edwards delivered a clean but vicious hit to Stafford’s midsection after Stafford launched a pass on a trick play that was intercepted by Seahawks cornerback Tariq Woolen.

Not only did Stafford not miss a single snap after that play, he also went on to help L.A. rally to score the final 10 points of Sunday’s game in a 17-16 Rams victory.

“Wasn’t great, but just needed a second really more than anything,” Stafford said. “Unfortunate play, didn’t want it to end the way it ended. Looked better when we repped it in practice, and obviously wasn’t a successful play, but proud just proud of the guys for bouncing back.”

On the next offensive series, Stafford completed each of his next four passes – gains of 23, 14 and 17 11 yards – to help set up running back Darrell Henderson Jr.’s 1-yard touchdown run that cut their deficit to two with 7:41 remaining.

The first play after the change of possession from defensive back Derion Kendrick’s interception? A 32-yard completion to wide receiver Puka Nacua, on a drive that again reached inside the Seahawks 5-yard line and ended with what would be kicker Lucas Havrisik’s game-winning field goal.

Stafford’s numbers after the big hit and pick: 7 for 11 passing for 111 of yards – out of the 190 total passing yards he had on the afternoon and out of his 17 for 31 overall passing.

“It comes from our leader, from number nine,” Nacua said. “The grit – you see him take some of those shots during the game, and the ability to stand back up and still command our offense and lead him in the way he does. When you have number nine in the backfield, a lot of things are going right.”

Rams head coach Sean McVay postgame joked that maybe they should punch Stafford in the gut right before a game. But on a serious note, McVay also noted how Stafford’s response only reinforced his legacy and reputation.

“I think the urgency went up, and I think this is one of the things that makes him great, is these types of moments,” McVay said. “You can add it to his legacy and his storied career of these come-from-behind wins, when it looks like the chips are stacked against you and he just finds a way to be able to get the drives.”

My summary of what was a game of penalties.

We led for 91 seconds of that game but it was the 91 seconds that counted most

    PARAM

In two second halves of football vs the Rams this season, the Seahawks amassed 99 yards of offense, scored 3 points and converted 1 of 12 third downs.

Conversely, the Rams offense has 430 yards, 33 points and converted 9 of 15 third downs. If we could only play like that against everybody.

    lahornsgear@Horns2016@Horns2016
Rams are now 4-6 and believe it or not, they are 3-1 within the division.

    Blaine Grisak@bgrisakTST
The Rams entered the fourth quarter trailing 16-7. Defense gave them a chance. Offense made plays when they needed them.

Darrell Henderson is averaging 0.8 yards per carry. Royce Freemman is averaging almost five yards per carry. Why is Henderson still getting the ball?

Freeman has been good. Henderson has shown why he was available for a year. Kyren Williams cannot return to the lineup fast enough.

    lahornsgear@Horns2016@Horns2016
This was a gut check win for the Rams. A lot of credit goes to the Rams defense to hold the Seahawks to field goals in the 1st quarter. Also on offense Royce Freemans physical runs made the Seahawks respect the Rams run game, which opened up the passing game in the 2nd half.

    Sarah Barshop@sarahbarshop
Sean McVay said he doesn’t have an update on WR Cooper Kupp. He said Kupp was trying to come back in the game in the second half, but his ankle didn’t feel quite right.

    Rams Brothers@RamsBrothers
Brycen Hopkins, Davis Allen and Hunter Long can surely drop passes and miss in-line blocks, too. Why not let them get the reps at this point?

The Lions game sounds wild. Down 26 to 21 with 3 minutes left. Lions scored with about 30 seconds left, got a 2 pointer to make it 29 to 26 Lions,  then got a safety with a few seconds left to win 31-26.

I wonder if the Rams ever tried to get him to adjust. He played most of his career before the NFL really took advantage of new tech, analytics,

Interesting discussion. When Stephen Davis was a Ram in 2006 after a long career playing in both Washington and Carolina, he openly talked about trying to teach SJ how to run lower, under his pads. Jackson did that for a bit in 2006 (one of his best years–in the last 6 games of that season, he had 151 carries for 725 yards and 8 TDs). But then Davis was gone after 2006 (and the OL fell apart due to injuries). After that Jackson never seemed to re-acquire the art of running lower and more under his pads. He remained the upright runner we all remember.

Plus unlike practically every back the Rams have now, SJ did not have superior contact balance. It wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t superior. That seems to be the common trait of every current Rams RB, from Wms to Henderson and so on. Not elusiveness, not power, not speed–contact balance.

    from https://theramswire.usatoday.com/lists/rams-pff-grades-defense-2023-season-first-half/

Here’s a list of the five highest-graded defenders for Los Angeles in the first half of the season (min. 100 snaps played).

    DT Aaron Donald: 89.1
    LB Ernest Jones: 72.1
    DT Kobie Turner: 70.4
    OLB Byron Young: 69.1
    NT Bobby Brown III: 68.9

Brown was playing well before he got hurt, clogging up the middle of the line with his size as a run defender.

Well, I dunno, but I just cant see any way the Palestinians can achieve any kind of justice/land by peaceful means.   Can you imagine Israel budging an inch on any of this?

I can see a return to the 2-state proposal if Israel can get out from under its right wing. Remember Rabin was moving toward that and was assasinated by an Israeli right-wing militant. I think it’s no accident that Netanyahu and his types supported Hamas, financially and in other ways–they didn’t want a unified Gaza/West Bank Palestinian front that could push for the Rabin solution. That of course is counter to the settlers pushing the West Bank, but then one way Israel gets away with that is by supporting Hamas’s power in Gaza, dividing the Palestinian bloc.

And I didn’t say only peaceful means. But what I can’t justify is slaughtering civilians, and that’s whether the KKK does it for the sake of white supremacy or if Hamas does it for the sake of Palestinian rights (though I doubt that’s why they do it). There;s always someone who feels they fight for what’s right and true and just so it’s not terrorism. To me it doesn’t matter if it’s “their guys for the wrong cause” or “our guys for the right cause.” Both defend their actions the same way with the same rhetoric and I have always believed all of them doing that are wrong. So I absolutely condemn Hamas totally and to me that is completely separate thing from us supporting Palestinian rights.

Remember, when the Israelis fought Hezbollah years ago and we discussed it on an early version of this board, and I defended Hezbollah in the context of that conflict. Hezbollah did not act like Isis or Hamas. In fact to me it’s obvious that Hamas is bad for Palestinians–in Gaza, they suppress elections and torture and execute their Palestinian critics.

Los Angeles Rams vs. Seattle Seahawks Week 11 Preview: Can Rams Spoil Seattle’s Season?

    https://www.si.com/nfl/rams/news/los-angeles-rams-seattle-seahawks-week-11-preview

In Week 1, the Los Angeles Rams put the football world on notice, dismantling the Seattle Seahawks 31-13.

Seattle, coming off of a season where the offense exploded into its post-Russell Wilson era, was silenced in the second half. Los Angeles, despite meager projections coming into the season, found itself 1-0 with a divisional win on the road.

Since then, things have mostly gone back to the consensus preseason expectations. The Rams have lost three straight and four of their last five contests, beleaguered by offensive injuries and defensive inexperience. The Seahawks, meanwhile, are fighting for a spot atop the NFC West, but have shown some warts.

At 3-6, Los Angeles’ season could be over with basically any additional loss. But that doesn’t mean the Rams can’t make an impact on the NFC playoff picture.

Can they pull off another upset?

For starters, Seattle is on the road on Sunday. Los Angeles has won just a single game at SoFi Stadium, but the Rams will welcome the advantage that comes with playing on their home turf, even if they haven’t cashed in on it this season.

Most importantly, Los Angeles is expected to have quarterback Matthew Stafford back under center. A thumb injury forced him out of Week 8’s action against the Dallas Cowboys and he missed Week 9 against the Green Bay Packers, a 20-3 loss.

With Stafford back and a bye week giving head coach Sean McVay time to make some badly needed adjustments, Los Angeles could very well retain its early-season potency.

They won’t hold Seattle to 12 yards in the second half again, meaning it will be on Stafford to come back with a bang. Against a Seahawks defense that has allowed more than 27 points per game in the last three weeks, the opportunities should be present for the Rams to keep this one close. The minuscule spread seems to agree.

A Rams upset could send Seattle into a tailspin, with perhaps the league’s hardest schedule down the stretch. It’s on McVay and the offense to make their rival’s playoff hopes that much cloudier.

    Rodrigue from https://theathletic.com/live-blogs/nfl-week-11-scores-picks-predictions-schedule-standings/FtxebAih7ALn/jO2r7l5bhVfB/

Stafford fully participated in practice all week, according to he and McVay.

“He’s looked really good,” said McVay. “I haven’t really noticed anything. He’s throwing it like the really special, talented player that we know. He’s had a great energy. He has led great throughout the course of the week. Looking forward to finishing this week off the right way. Let’s let that lead into a good performance for our group on Sunday.”

Stafford wore a soft brace around his right hand/wrist in practice this week. McVay expects him to also do so on Sunday.

“There’s ways that you can adjust it that don’t necessarily … the answer is ‘yes’, and how much it restricts (him) or anything like that, that would be something that he would be able to tell you but I certainly haven’t noticed,” said McVay. “It’s got some flexibility. It’s not quite like, a firm brace that restricts as much as you would think.

“It’s just to be able to stabilize it so that it doesn’t move past certain thresholds because of what that (UCL) is responsible for doing.”

The only player who is listed as “questionable” this week is cornerback Cobie Durant, who is still working through a shoulder stinger. Returning Sunday along with Stafford are starting right tackle Rob Havenstein and starting inside linebacker Ernest Jones, as well as core rotational interior defensive lineman Bobby Brown III. Next week, the Rams expect to get starting running back Kyren Williams off of injured reserve.

Sean McVay said DB Cobie Durant (shoulder) will be questionable, otherwise everyone else on the injury report should be good to go for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks.

McVay said this is the healthiest the Rams have been since the beginning of the season.

BTW, has anyone ever done any studies per position? Just eye-balling it, wide-receivers seem to hit their heads on the turf any time they extend themselves for a catch. Oftentimes, on regular catches too. Running backs probably take the most initial shots to the head. And linemen knock heads play after play. So, just not sure. DBs probably tackle head first more than any other spot on the team, etc. Anyway, they pretty much all end up making contact with the ground (and each other) in bad ways. I wish there were a way to solve this, without bubble-wrapping the game . . .

And it’s knees and soft tissue getting roughed up just from playing on that surface, ie. planting on it and exerting…it’s basically playing on concrete.

    from Reddit

The already hosted events year round by placing plywood over the pitch. But the turnaround time was long because the grass needed several days of good weather to recover. With the added roof, grass wasn’t going to grow anyway.

This allows them to have the pitch in perfect growing conditions under lights while an event happens and they can still host a Real Madrid match the following day.

Arizona moves the entire pitch outside in one piece to get sunlight.

Totennham breaks up their pitch into 3 pieces and moves it below the car park. They have a turf field below the moving pitch for american football and other events.

Stacking the pitch below the grounds is next level. Can’t wait for the full engineering documentary to came out.
