    Billy, I agree.

I have to split with Taibbi on this one.

The bottom line is the whistleblower was correct. His information was good. This is no sort of set-up.

If we allow Trump this–what is next? Where would Matt seriously draw the line?

Or is the crime less important that who reports it? And what happens to them afterward?

What happened to the other whistleblowers was wrong.

But that can’t save this President.

I love Matt but I disagree completely with him on impeachment. I do not think that doing “nothing” is an option.

Trump keeps pushing boundaries. I mean–if he is not held accountable for this then when? There may as well be no rules for the office of the Presidency. They can trade weapons for favors, make foreign policy more about personal gain and corrupt everything they touch. With Trump–the Democratic base is fed up–and it is an accumulation of things.

The Democrats will depress their base if they do nothing.

And as they have moved on impeachment, the polls now show a majority of Americans support it.

So what if it goes no where in the Senate? The Republicans hold their base because they do what they want and do not care. They look strong.

The Democrats frustrate their base. They are weak.

If they lose the energy in the base they will lose the election.

I say, “Impeach”. It is overdue.

Just got home from work–missed the game. Heard a little here and there on a radio.

My big question is: what happened to the defense?

It feels rather sudden that they just are not very good.

I would just like to see Mcvay give Goff some quicker throws when he gets pressured. To Goffs credit he waits and waits but his pocket awareness isnt always great.

The line can’t hold forever some days.

Goff would benefit from quicker routes. These receivers and backs have demonstrated that they can turn short passes into large gains. Use their talent. I’m not saying to take the long passes out at all. But if Goff is getting pressure, adjust accordingly. He’s better when he isn’t getting hit. And his mobility is limited.

I thought the Kupp run was one of the best run after catches I’ve ever seen.

I hope Donald is okay. He was a huge presence today.

I worry about the offensive line. We were very lucky last year.

I wish the bad call on the fumble had not happened because that is all we will hear about.

I did think the refs would give every call to the Saints today to make up for the championship game.

Instead they gave the Saints a big middle finger. Sucks to be them. 🙂

Yeah I don’t get keeping Natsun. Maybe they just like the guy. I also was surprised by Myers and Peterson and Allen. And I have to say that Henderson did not impress me. I would have rather kept Kelly.

Another point for impeachment, discussed on “The Majority Report” is the fact that the Russians gained access to voter databases in all 50 states. They are still attacking the systems. They do not even need to control fifty states–just a few. And they can flip the election. McConnell will do nothing because he wants the help.

If nothing else–open an impeachment inquiry and highlight this. Make McConnell defend himself. He has pretty much said that the reason he won’t do anything is because the Democrats would benefit. Yes–if people vote–the Dems benefit.

If they clear rolls or even go as far as hacking the machines—the election won’t even matter.

Pelosi acts like these are normal times.

    They are not.

    Waterfield,

I strongly disagree with Pelosi’s position. Part of the reason the Dems won the house was Democratic turnout, and while healthcare had a lot to do with that, so did Trump. He was, in fact, a threat to healthcare. He was also a disaster.

If Pelosi depresses turnout because the energy in the party whithers–if people see no point to the Democrats, they will lose. Trump’s cult will show up either way. The Dems will have to live with their failure to impeach for a long time.

She will, of course blame AOC and the progressives but they owe her nothing when they are so easily dismissed.

And if she tries leading, the public may come along.

She is, IMO, a terrible leader, only slightly better than Schumer.

At what point in this corrupt authoritarian loving Trump regime, do you stand up and say, enough is enough?

    Billy, I agree.

I just watched Schiff on CNN basically say they were not ready for an impeachment inquiry and that if impeachment failed in the Senate it would be like an acquittal for Trump.

MAKE THE REPUBLICANS DEFEND HIS CORRUPT ASS!

The Dems are soooooo weak and useless.

They will putter around with hearings and continue to subpoena witnesses who will never show and wait while the courts take this into the election and do nothing. If they do nothing then THEY acquit Trump. He doesn’t need the Republicans to defend him when you have the Democrats.

    Just awful. And frustrating.

The reason this was not a disaster is that most people simply do not care. The Dems could have started an impeachment inquiry long ago but because Pelosi is putting politics first, it will not happen unless there is a sudden groundswell of support from the public. That just doesn’t seem likely. She is worried about those “purple” states that they always worry about. They could care less about their base. They take them for granted. They care about the “independent” or so-called “lost Obama voter” who went to Trump. They chase a narrow strip to victory instead of putting any effort into expanding their base.

In short–they suck as a political party.

And often, they have the same agenda as the other team anyway.

It was always a waste of time and money to hold the hearings. There was no chance it would change anything–even if Mueller had appeared coherent.

As for Mueller…it seems obvious that he was less involved in the investigation than previously thought. He oversaw things but his involvement seems more distant. He also certainly appears to have some aging issues. He does not present at all as the image we were sold. I suspect this is why he did not want to testify and simply insisted on relying on the report. He isn’t that clear on the details himself.

But again–Pelosi didn’t need this to impeach. She had what she needed.

This may work out well for her though. If anything this will probably slow the impeachment train.

And the statute of limitations means Trump will probably never be indicted on anything.

This will make him even more bold. That is scary.

The Dems failed the country in a huge way.

And Trump may even win reelection.

This country needs an actual opposition party. Right now–we do not have one.

I have been massively disappointed in this season. Frankly, I think they blew 7 seasons bnb of great television. I get thT they wanted to end it–to wrap things up, and clearly they are in a hurry to do it. That alone has hurt the show.

But beyond that it feels like a different show.

The plot set up things that just never really happened for what? Random outcomes? And I am not talking about Dany really…although rushing her along weakened her story and diminished her as a character.

Jon Snow has been essentially forgotten. The guy who was set up as a sort of messiah is basically a supporting player.

The writers have been obsessed with the Arya story for some time but I had ko idea how obsessed they were with the character. She has become the star.

    But why?

The show frustrates me. There was such potential.

I do think Dany’s destiney is correct. Tyrian is just useless these days. Jon Snow may as well have stayed dead. Jamie an Cerci….okay but man that felt like a 40s romance cliche. With brother and sister of course.

I could go on and on.

    On the positive side?

    I liked the Hound’s story.

    No idea about these guys.

I think my favorite two picks are Henderson and Long.

I hope they all develop into all-pros.

Rams came in determined to trade down and acquire picks. They did it.

The draft has become a bloated monster. The NFL really knows how to drag out a show.

Yes, this really makes me wonder about Kelly and Davis. It certainly looks like they don’t think much of them. Henderson looks good in his highlights. Very fluid, fast. And it was a need with the uncertainty surrounding Gurley now.

I can’t wait for the next episode. I shouldn’t do it but I do read fan theories and while some are wild or make no sense, others knock it out of the park. I think one I read nails something about the next episode and I can’t wait for it. I actually didn’t catch it but the hints are right in your face in episode 2. The other theory is interesting and makes sense but we will see. It involves Jamie.

So in any case I want to see if these happen. I have no doubt the first one will. Not sure about the second.

And of course none of what I’m saying makes sense without me dropping possible spoilers, and I won’t do that.😎

I have to say that this is the least interested in the draft I’ve ever been. Yes, I care about who the Rams take but I will read about them as they are selected. Part of it is Superbowl hangover, part of it is draft position, part of it is that they are pretty well set at most positions. I haven’t read anything about these guys.

I am looking more at position and for me that is mostly offensive and defensive lines.

    Hopefully they pick well.

I saw something somewhere recently where someone came up with some idea of shading the planet from the sun thereby lessening the heat.

The NFL should be embarrassed. There is a recent movement that seems to want to deny receivers.

This creates logjams and this is going to be another one.

I just hope this doesn’t come down to a “controversial” call near the end for either team.

    Can you just imagine?

I think the first thing is that Donald and Suh need a big game. If they are contained it will be a long day. Secondly–who covers Gronk? He’s a matchup nightmare. You sure has heck can’t put Joyner on him. I wonder how the Rams will handle that.

On offense it is time for Gurley to have a monster game. I’m sure the Pats will try to take him out early, like they did by tossing Falk all over the field. I doubt that will be called. Goff may have to win this. Use the tight ends. They are key IMO. Also PROTECT GOFF. They will be coming for him.

The Rams have a great chance to win the game.

But DO NOT BEAT YOURSELF! That’s the one thing they can’t do. No turnovers.

    Rams: 31

    Pats: 27

I’ve heard several sports guys trying to make the point about other penalties that weren’t called for the Rams and how the game doesn’t happen in a vaccuum and the saints still had time but couldn’t win it and on and on. none of that matters to non Rams fans. Their minds are made up that this call decided the game. Period. You will never change their mind.

Zn is right. If it were the Rams in that position I’d scream. I get it.

But the Rams did not officiate the game. There was no “fix” just incompetence.

Do not leave it in the refs hands. Ever.

Even with home field advantage, the Saints could not pull it out.

The Patriots still hear about the “tuck” rule.

They still have all those championships. I still bitch about the Pats mugging Falk in the Superbowl. Doesn’t matter.

This will eventually fade, although it will hover like a ghost.

Go win the Superbowl. Nothing to do but look forward.

In fairness to Joyner, he was huge on the 4th and 1 stop, and Peters was supposed to be back there on the Gallup catch but abandoned the area. Also he gets stupid penalties. Joyner us not having a good year. But Peters has been a bust.

Well. I am thrilled with the game. I never saw that sort of rushing attack coming. They just destroyed Dallas on the ground. What can you say about CJ Anderson and how important he has been? He is amazing. The oline played great and Goff made the plays he had to and of course, NO TURNOVERS! They learned from last year. It was so important to get a playoff win this year. Mission accomplished. The defense scared me a bit but they did shut down Elliot. Nice job.

My one problem is with Peters. He is a punk who doesn’t like to tackle and he’s dumb. He is going to cost them. I would love to move on from him next year.

    But besides that—great game.
