They struggled on the road a bit but did it.

    Go Rams.

    on that pi non-call.

someone at the herd made an excellent point.

the non-call on the goff facemask went in favor of the saints.

who knows what happens if that call is made?

Peyton cries. Like that was the only thing that happened in that game.
    Anyway.
Goff played and handled things well.

Hey– non calls for both teams. They had all the noise and home field. Tough. Superbowl baby! Go Rams!

    both of them.

payton should be crying over his insane decision to pass handing the rams another timeout to help them tie the game.

    dumb.

I have to admit, this is one victory that runs bittersweet for me. Pretty much 99% of the time, a Rams’ win is an unalloyed joy. If I’m not literally dancing in my living room, it’s at least figurative. But that non-call screwed that up a bit for me.

Yeah, I know. No-calls went against the Rams too. And they’ve had more than their fair share over the course of the season — like holding on Donald. But it does bother me that this one was impacted by the refs so much. I wanted — to the degree possible — a “clean” win.

That said, the Rams could have put this away at several points before that play. Joyner and Robey-Coleman, for example, should have totaled three interceptions between them, including on the non-call. If we’re playing “ifs,” etc. Gurley’s drop for a pick was another gimme to the Saints, and Goff should have run it in for a TD near the goal line, instead of settling for the field goal.

Anyway, I’m thrilled they’re going to the Big Show. But it’s a hell of a lot more fun when there isn’t any controversy. They need to bring their “A” game in two weeks, and sustain that. I think, for most of this Sunday, they didn’t, except when it counted.

Hey the Saints had their chance. They got the ball 1st in overtime. Brees threw a pick. Tough for them. And how about some love for Goff? He was big when he had to be.

Holding the Saints to six points on their first two possessions went a long way.

    Unbelievable game!

It all evens out in the end…. Tom Mack did not move on Alan Page in the 1974 NFC Championship game….BTW, I think the Saints were only flagged twice today…

Yeah, the D came up huge to hold the Saints to just six points on those two drives. That might have been the game right there, in a sense.

And, yes, Goff made some great plays, keeping drives alive. He was clutch for most of the game.

Reynolds impressed me too. He runs hard after the catch, and is a load to take down. Not the best pure hands guy, but when he hauls it in, he runs with violence. I think he has to be among the best backup receivers in the league, and the Rams did well to draft him.

Gotta re-sign Fowler. He’s young enough to give four or five more years, all in his prime.

Everett is improving as well, and I like Higbee. The Rams, basically, don’t have that many holes to fill for next season. If they win the SB, they have a very good chance of a repeat. Vegas thinks so as well.

So, is it a revenge game against the Pats? Or the two best offenses, head to head?

The crew was supposedly famous for their anti-Rams bias, too. Vinovich? Is that the guy? Apparently, a group of Rams fans tried to get him kicked out prior to the game.

But, yeah, it probably all balances out across time. And I still think the refs let the Pats mug the Rams receivers and Faulk the entire Super Bowl (36).

Should be a great one this year.

Great game down 13 on the road in the NFC championship they came back. If you’ve been watching the playoffs this season the refs have not been calling PI , the only one I saw was against the L.A. Chargers (it was the Ravens that were guilty).I’m glay the Rams caught on to this early , we don’t need another 2002. At least the refs were consistent . Anyway for me the biggest thing was Goff with Gurley struggling early and a lot of drops that should’ve be catches he brought his team back and won it on the road in on of the most difficult places to do that. N.O. was 6-0 there , that is huge!

The great special teams play that we’ve seen since the Fisher hired Fossil came up big yet again today. The defense was also a big factor obviously. To hold the Saints to under 30 at the dome is not what I was expecting.

yes. absolutely. and everett also made at least one big catch that i can remember.

yeah. this is a milestone game for goff.

now one game left to see exactly how we look back at this game by goff. but still a game where he grew up a little bit.

Agree 100% that this was a growth game for Goff. He didn’t get rattled, played well with a limited running game and had clutch drives at the end of the half, end of the game and in overtime.

Well played tough game by both teams.

    So happy the Rams won!!!

The Refs missed two Facemask calls. One that was on Goff, and the other was Brandin Cooks. Let’s not forget, the Refs missed a delay of game call as well. So, the Saints can’t say they got screwed.

We need to work on fixing our pass defense assignments. It was better than last game, but still need some improvement. Hopefully, the Rams work on their secret plays in LA, not in Atlanta.

McVay has been to only to one Super Bowl, in person. It was the Rams beating the Titans

    What a coincidence… I was at that game too. Only I wasn’t 14 years old when I went. 🙂

This has to be terribly bitter for Saints fans, especially after their miraculous loss last year. Two consecutive gut-wrenching defeats in the playoffs. And I have no sympathy whatsoever for them. Not even a tiny bit. After the Tom Mack penalty, and many other bitter defeats throughout the 70s, I just can’t say that winning a game with an assist like that bothers me in the least. I’m not experiencing my typical schadenfreude either, however, because I don’t care about the Saints. If this had happened to the Vikings, I would not be able to get enough of their fans’ tears. But I’m just without any sympathy for Saints fans.

But as I was saying, a lifetime (this, I realized, is my 50th anniversary of being a Rams fan)…a lifetime of mostly losing has taught me not to cry about referees, or bad bounces, or dropped passes (Cromwell), or loud crowds. They are each and every one a part of the game, and there is no use crying about it. At the end, when the final gun sounds, your team either has more points, or it doesn’t. And complaining about This or That, or What If is just a waste.

So this past week I made the case over at the Herd, and also on this pretty bad FB page, that the petition to the NFL to change the ref in this game was nonsense, and if you don’t want a ref to screw you over…SCORE MORE POINTS. Score more points, and take the possibility of a bad call out of the equation. Don’t cry to me about a bad call. There were other bad non-calls in that game (as others have mentioned), and that’s the way it goes. The Rams…in the end…out-dueled them. They limited the Saints to FGs in the beginning, and harassed them all day long. Donald made plays, Fowler, Suh, Littleton.

And GOFF! Goff showed me something really, really big today. His numbers weren’t great (they were pretty good, though), but he held that team together through hurricane force crowd noise that lasted the entire game, but was especially fierce in the first quarter. I don’t think last year’s Goff would have made it. That was F-ing magnificent. He kept that team going, right into the teeth of that noise, and a very stiff New Orleans defense that played very well.

And Zuerlein, baby. Two clutch kicks. And no gimme chip shots, either. Those were manly kicks. That was championship football we saw today.

This is now officially a bad-ass team.

I just found out they won, this morning. Saw the highlights. Wow. I’ll be watching the replay today.

I see Michael Thomas only had about forty yards. Rams had no running game, apparently.

Rams vs Belichick. Are you kidding me? OMG.

Jared Goff outplayed Drew Brees for the balance of the game. Brees after the first quarter was 16/25, 138 yards (5.5 y/a), 1 TD, 1 Int, 75.0 QB rating. Goff after the first quarter was 22/28, 292 yards (10.4 y/a) 122.0 QB rating. #LARams

I would give Robey-Coleman the game ball.

That last pass-breakup was phenomenal. Saved the game.

    Outstanding play.

AND, i could watch the replay of that lying weasel sean payton CRYING in the postgame presser, all day long.

    What a snow-flake.
