Thread: As Democrats push for huge budget increases for cops, I'm thinking about my client Cindy Rodriguez. She was a 51-year-old mother of two living with a physical disability. Police arrested for shoplifting from a grocery store. What happened to her next is important.

ZooeyModeratorI don’t know anything about the cap.
I think Gaines, Hoecht, and Gay are must re-signs. Love to keep A’Shawn, but that looks unlikely. Perkins will get the minimum, and nobody else is going to give him more, probably, so…fine.
No way would I release Fuller, Noteboom, Rochell, or Shelton. Fuller was very good when healthy, Noteboom is a solid G and still possible LOT, Rochell is still on his rookie deal (I believe), and Shelton graded higher than Allen (I believe).
The Rams wouldn’t get anything for Jefferson, so I see no point in trading him. Wagner was the highest rated ILB last year, so trading him makes no sense to me at all.
ZooeyModeratorI remember that draft, and I remember thinking the Rams blew it, and I remember remembering being right about that.
(Disclaimer: I’m not a draftnik).

ZooeyModeratorit refers solely to gun use in well-regulated militias.
I’ve never understood how this part has just “disappeared” from the issue.
It seems pretty obvious to me that this amendment is talking about something like the National Guard. And that’s it. That’s the end of it.
ZooeyModeratorI am fine will all of DaSilva’s outcomes (predictions), but I think Nsekhe is worth hanging onto, if possible. I’d like to keep Robinson, too, but I get it. The other guys he has leaving, I have been expecting to leave at the end of their deals anyway.

ZooeyModeratorWhy are you missing games? Not that it’s “an issue” just actually curious.
My parents are 93 years old. They live 90 miles from me in my childhood home.
I spent every weekend August – Thanksgiving moving them into a retirement home. And since the first of January, I have been going to the house every weekend to clean it out, clean it up, and prepare it for sale. Going up tonight for a 4-day weekend, as it happens.
The only games I saw this year were games played on days other than Sunday, with the exception of the final game against the Seahawks. I saw that.
ZooeyModeratorNew video reveals there is more behind a fatal "officer involved" shooting than originally reported by Littleton Police.
On Feb 2, a press release saying Stephen Poolson, 41, “was driving a motorcycle & crashed” Police said an officer eventually shot him saying he had a gun. pic.twitter.com/Z2UiXRZsjj— ChudsOfTikTok (@ChudsOfTikTok) February 9, 2023
ZooeyModeratorMy sources corroborate Sy Hersh's report that the US was behind the Nord Stream pipeline sabotage.
(My sources are logic, common sense, and public statements by US government officials.)

ZooeyModeratorLooks like I’m not going to be able to watch it after all.
Fitting end to a season I mostly missed anyway.
And it looks like a good season to miss.

Jerry Jones says the Eagles bet it all to win this year, just as the Rams did last year. Jones says the Cowboys prefer to think longer term. https://t.co/DTdSyVm51F

ZooeyModeratorThis is one of those Super Bowls where I have no rooting interest. I will probably watch it. Most of it, anyway.
I will say that I hope plenty of attention is paid to the fact that Dick Vermeil did not win a super bowl with either team, and that they devote most of their time discussing the one Super Bowl that he did win.

ZooeyModeratorShame about the 9’ers. Yet another wasted season. Next year all those talented players will be another year older, another year closer to the end of their contracts, another year closer to the end of their competitive window. Another year closer to the end. If they had just blocked better on that play in which Purdy got hurt. If their vaunted front 7 just hadn’t been dominated by the Eagles’ o-line which allowed them to run at will and control the game… There’s nothing as agonizing as potential unfulfilled. “For all sad words of tongue and pen, the saddest are these, ‘it might have been.” I feel terrible for all those 9’er fans out there. I wish there was something I could do to relieve their suffering. Yup, it’s a damn shame.
‘Zine it.
January 27, 2023 at 5:11 pm in reply to: Rams tweets … 1/24 – 1/29 (including Rodrigue q & a) #142773
ZooeyModeratorWagner proved he’s still among the very best inside linebackers in the game. Top Three, easily. Ramsey also had a fine year, and I think he’s arguably Top Three as well. If I’m the Rams, I don’t make that trade, and that’s coming from someone who really, really wants the Rams to trade for high draft picks. Wagner’s intangibles are off the charts. Leadership, football IQ, mentorship, etc. etc. Tough as nails. Yes, he’s going into his age 33 year, but he’s showing little in the way of decline. Ramsey, into his age 29 year, also seems to be going strong, and has evolved into a strong leader with the Rams. Both are serious “core” guys. The person who might make the better trade for the Rams? It would have been unthinkable for me to say so even earlier this year, but it’s Donald. He’s entering his age 32 season, but that’s not the issue for me. No sign of slowing down. Every sign that he’s still in his peak window. It’s his likely retirement. If not this season, then next. While he’s basically Mr. Ram, the Rams have traded several Mr Rams in the past, like Gabriel, Dickerson, Bettis, or players close to that, like Hacksaw. And they let Deacon Jones slip away, which was unforgivable to me. Anyway, I don’t think they’ll trade Donald, or Wagner, but I can see them moving Ramsey. Just don’t include Wagner or any other core guy, unless the other team backs up the truck and pours several first rounders on their heads.
At the start of the season, NFL executives, coaches, and players voted Wagner as the #8 LB in the entire league, and he did nothing this year to tarnish his reputation.
PFF has Ramsey rated as the #1 CB.
Lions fans who think that their #18 overall pick is too much to give up for both of those guys AND a 5th round pick are simply homers who have no clue.

ZooeyModeratorRams not only will say no, but they laugh at it. They are not giving them up, for something that low. The Lions would have to give us back the 6th pick, along with the 18th pick, this years 3rd round pick, and next years 1st round pick. and Aiden Huchinson, for the deal to work.
What’s funny is that Lions fans are reacting to that and saying they wouldn’t make that trade because Wagner and Ramsey are washed up.
ZooeyModeratorRams hire Mike LaFleur as next offensive coordinator under Sean McVay
LaFleur moved on from the Jets after two seasons as OC

The Los Angeles Rams are in the midst of reshuffling a bunch of positions on Sean McVay’s coaching staff. That to-do list got a bit shorter on Friday as the club has hired Mike LaFleur to be its next offensive coordinator, according to CBS Sports NFL Insider Josina Anderson. LaFleur had been looked at as the favorite to land the gig after he and the New York Jets mutually decided to part ways earlier this offseason, and Anderson reported on Thursday that he had “the inside track” to the gig he’s ultimately secured.
During the period McVay was still mulling his own future in the NFL before deciding to return to remain L.A.’s head coach, the Rams did see former offensive coordinator Liam Coen return to the University of Kentucky to be its OC after one season in the NFL. Coen was hired by the Rams after Kevin O’Connell accepted the head-coaching job of the Minnesota Vikings last offseason.
During the 2022 campaign, the Rams were ravished by injured on both sides of the ball, but particularly on offense where both quarterback Matthew Stafford and wideout Cooper Kupp were eventually shut down for the year. In part due to those injuries, Los Angeles’ offense struggled, ranking 23rd in the NFL in DVOA and last in the league in total yards per game (280.5).
They’ll look to turn that around with LaFleur, who has familiarity with McVay due to their connection with 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan. Prior to becoming the Jets’ offensive coordinator in 2021, LaFleur climbed the coaching ladder under Shanahan through stops with the Browns, Falcons and 49ers. In San Francisco, he was the passing game coordinator before making the leap to OC with New York. McVay also worked under Shanahan from 2010 to 2013 while in Washington. With the Jets, LaFleur did not find tremendous success on the offensive side of the ball. In 2021, the club ranked 31st in both points and total yards yet did see much improvement in 2022 as it was 25th in total yards and 31st in passing touchdowns. A lot of that was due to the insufficient play at the quarterback position, particularly in the final three weeks of this season for New York where the team averaged just five points per game.
Despite those struggles on offense, LaFleur and the Jets mutually agreed to part ways so the OC could pursue other opportunities around the league. Now, he’s found that next opportunity in Los Angeles
ZooeyModeratorThe Chargers don’t suffer from envy of their big brother, or anything.
I hope they hire Jerrod Johnson’s. It’s a peculiar last name, but I’m sure he is what they need.

Oh, I do.
My consolation for this lost season is that it was lost early. Watching the agony of Minnesota and Dallas fans ends the season on a sweet note for me.
49ers next to go down. Glory be.
