1. Los Angeles Rams: Myles Garrett and Byron Young
If anybody respectable was across from Garrett, they would be part of the top choice here. As it happens, the Rams have another star in the spot with Young, who is turning into an All-Pro talent.
As for Garrett, what hasn’t been said about him? A future first-ballot Hall of Famer, Garrett set the single-season sacks record last season with 23 for the Browns. In the offseason, he was acquired by the Rams for defensive end Jared Verse, along with first-, second- and third-round picks, and despite being 30 years old, was still seen as worth the cost.
Over the past six years, Garrett has been a five-time first-team All-Pro. He’s totaled 95 sacks across 97 games while constantly drawing double- and triple-teams in Cleveland. A two-time Defensive Player of the Year, he’s now getting his first real shot at a ring.
Then there’s Young, a 28-year-old Pro Bowler coming off a career-high 12 sacks. Never missing a game throughout his three-year career, Young is durable and disruptive and, with Garrett as his counterpart, could be the biggest individual beneficiary.

The second-year receiver out of Pitt didn’t put up big numbers as a rookie in 2025 but he played meaningful snaps as a seventh-round pick.
Davante Adams was a big fan of his last season, talking up the young wideout during camp and the regular season. Adams’ confidence in Mumpfield hasn’t wavered entering the 2026 campaign, either.

According to the league tracking data, the Rams ranked No. 1 in screen pass success rate at 56.5% across 46 total attempts. They were the only franchise in the league to surpass the 50% success threshold on screen plays during the 2025 regular season. Additionally, the Rams finished among the league leaders in screen pass expected points added (EPA) per play, posting the seventh-best average EPA of 0.119.

NEAR GOAT TIER
5. Marshall Faulk, St Louis Rams, 58 points: Faulk was the greatest dual threat I’ve ever seen. His peak from 1999 to 2001, when he won 3 OPOY and 1 MVP, was truly remarkable. He was the engine behind the Greatest Show on Turf.
10. Eric Dickerson, LA Rams, 45 points: If you are too young to see Dickerson and you watch his YouTube highlights, you may not be overly impressed, but over the course of a season, he was great. He ran hard, he wore down defenses, and he just gained yards and kept the chains moving.
LEGENDS TIER
23. Jerome Bettis, LA Rams/Pittsburgh Steelers, 29 points: Bettis was a great power back in his day who could still handle 20 carries a game. His longevity for a back of his size was incredible. Defenses always had to make sure they had a plan to drag down Bettis.

It’s a weird list. Dickerson is too low, Jackson as you point out is absent. So is McCutcheon.

Ryan Fitzpatrick was on the “Rich Eisen Show” Wednesday and he thinks it’ll be “very hard” for the Rams to go wire-to-wire as pre-season favorites to Super Bowl champions.
“The NFL is awesome. It’s so much different than the NBA and the superteams because it is so much about the team,” he said. “Yeah, it’s about the health, but it’s about guys playing together. It’s about the schemes and the coaches, so I think it’s very hard to be the favorite in pre-season and take that all the way through the season.”
Fitzpatrick still likes the Rams, but he admits there are questions about their special teams, which was their Achilles’ heel last season.
“We still have to remember I know they made their improvements, but Seattle won the whole thing last year so yes, I think they should be the favorites,” he added. “Does that mean they’re going to win the whole thing? I think that’s a very, very difficult thing to do because it isn’t just five guys out there passing the ball around and shooting threes. This a whole team. Special teams we saw last year was the downfall for them, so how do they improve their special teams? It’s a team game and it’s a very tough thing to do going wire-to-wire.”
On paper, there’s no question the Rams are the best team in the NFL, but games are played on grass (or, mostly turf), not on paper. And the Rams have a 38-year-old quarterback who dealt with back problems last year, which has Fitzpatrick a little bit concerned, too.
“That’s a huge deal. Can Matthew, now a year older, continue to play at the level he’s played at? I think so, but can he stay healthy?” Fitzpatrick asked, before saying the Rams “obviously have no shot” if he gets hurt.

yes. most analysts keep ignoring this. i assume the kicking game will be fine with mevis. not great but not a liability. evans will be fine.
but coverage teams need to be better. and it’d be nice if they had a return specialist. a tony horne type player.

Well they have a new coach and did sign a STs ace or 2. IMO the main issue was blocking for the FG/Xtra points unit. Mevis may be more than okay–he may have a clutch gene. He won an important college game in the last seconds with a 60 yarder, and he did make the game winning kick in the Chicago playoff game.
Last year in the final 2 Seattle games, STs gave up a 17 point swing. There was a Seattle punt return for 7, a missed FG for 3, and a fumbled punt Seattle scored on for 7 in the playoff game. That’s a 17 point swing in 2 games the Rams lost by 5 points combined.

This does not surprise me. Football outcomes are so dependent on health and health is wildly variable and unpredictable in a brutal sport.
At any rate if the Rams dont have a quality Left Tackle this season, they are not preseason favorites in my view. The media is goin all ga-ga about Myles Garrett but the LT situation is critical. Beyond critical. …what’s beyond critical?

vIt’s a possible outcome. As of right now, the legal case is not clear and it’s not certain he did anythng that will warrant charges.
Not that he’s an angel. The story behind the case is not a good character reference for him.
