I filed a complaint on nfl network’s ‘contact us’ link. Called them a bunch of money grubbing clowns that couldn’t manage a pack of rats.

I’m sure it’ll get filed in the ‘old Ram fan who hates the world’ folder. But, by golly it sure was fun to hit submit.

    Stupid bastards.

I planned last night and then this afternoon around it. What a bunch of clowns.

Hopeful that it was just a hyper extension scare or scar tissue tear.

I had a hyperextended knee once – 20 years ago or so. I was playing wiffle ball at the beach one handed with a beer in the other. I went down rounding first base because we were playing on an uneven pasture lot. But, as the beer gods are my witness not one drop of beer was spilled. It hurt so bad I was seeing stars for a while. Some of the worst pain I’ve ever encountered. Almost as bad as the Rams loss to the Pats. Luckily, I didn’t have to line up under center 40 seconds later and was able to go home and limp around for a couple of days before the pain stopped completely.

I’d like to see the hightlights focus on the starters as well. But, from what little I’ve seen I am impressed with Michael Sam and think the Rams got a steal in the seventh. Seems to me that MS would have been a decent pick in the fourth round. I didn’t think he has much of a shot in June but now I think he should make the team along with Westbrook. If he doesn’t it will be a numbers thing where they want additional depth to work inside and perhaps like Westbrook more. But, if he does make the team and unless injuries sideline Hayes, Sims, or even Westbrook I doubt M Sam will see the field much or even the active list.

With an eye towards this season, I think they’ll do everthing they can to keep Sam and Westbrook as depth and for the future. So, the practice squad will be a last resort. My thought is how much longer will Sims and Hayes and even Chris Long be around? Talented UDFA and 7th rounders are great values and make it easier to afford to keep and pay their stars such as Quinn and Ogletree.

The preseason will be over shortly – then the real bullets will fly. Oh yeah!

The voices of Vin Scully and Chick Hearn will live with me forever.

“Chicky-baby” with his catch phrases like telling you a guy was faked out by saying he was “in the popcorn machine”… or telling you when the game was over by telling you “the lights are out, the eggs are coolin’, the butter’s gettin’ hard and the jello’s gigglin’…” even if there was 5 minutes to go.

And Vin Scully brought poetry to baseball. He could do a 10 minute intro that just would make my heart soar and would just make me EXCITED to hear about…DOOOODGER Baseball, brought to you by Farmer John.

I’ll admit to being spoiled by being able to hear two of the greatest sportscasters who will ever be as part of my formative years. Downright BLESSED.

I still listen to vinny almost every night he does all the home games and the west coast games. I loved Enberg too. I loved Chick and Vin but “Oh! My!” – I loved me some Dick Enberg too.

“As a practical matter, it’s the Legion of Boom rule. In 2013, the Seahawks brazenly committed illegal contact and holding, knowing that, if illegal contact happens on every play, the officials won’t throw a flag on every play. In an intriguing segment that aired on NBCSN’s NFL Turning Point, Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman was displaying to a teammate on the practice field techniques for concealing illegal contact.”

I watched a couple of preseason games this week on the lack of D NFL Network – Bears and Eagles from last week and the Jags last night. They did call it almost every pass play. It was ridiculously easy for any receiver to simply run into a DB who’s more than 5 yards past the LOS and out would come the flag. So, the play of the night was run into a DB and draw a flag for a FD. That said, it was a preseason game so we’ll see how far it goes once the regular season starts. If they’re looking for more scoring – this is one way to enhance that. Simply look at last night’s NFL preseason scores.

The jersey grabbing, pushing, pulling, bumping stuff has been going on for decades. Many times, it goes both ways. After all the emphasis on illegal hits and injury producing head hunting the past few seasons, this would really make it much harder on any defense to slow down any NFL passing attack. I prefer balance and a defensive game isnt’ a bad game in my opinion.

Rolls – mmmm – some hot buttered rolls with some fresh cherry jam would be awesome. But, I can’t afford the calories. I’ll have to save up.

He’s pseudo predicting that Pettis will have the best season of the six – whatta goof. I don’t think so.

To me, Pettis is a role player who still has to make the team. If they trade for a WR or only keep 5, I’d guess Pettis is the odd man out all things being equal with injuries, etc.

And Givens, meh kinda a JAG. A nice mid round pick with some potential but he has a lot to prove going into season three I’d state that all the others have more potential to have as good or better seasons than either Pettis or Givens. If Sam and Austin both stay healthy, there’s gonna be some explosions.

Weber’s kick ass.. I own 4 of them.

    1) the Weber Genesis B, …..my go-to grill…..I’ve had it since about 1998… we BBQ a lot….used it last night to grill halibut…..it still works killer, have only replaced the igniter and flavor bars… . despite hours and hours of grilling, it still has the original porcelain grates.
    2) 22″ Weber charcoal grill, I’ve had it since 1996….. I use only Kingsford briquets with NO Lighter fuel… strictly lit with a coal chimney starter using newspaper. (I’ve found that lighter fuel gives me migraines) Every Thanksgiving or Christmas turkey that I’ve cooked since 1997 has been grilled on this baby……I want to replace this grill soon only because I want a newer model with the “one touch cleaning” thing on the bottom of the grill.
    3) The Go Anywhere Gas grill, this little baby is very underrated.. great little grill that I use for camping or small cook outs
    4) the little Smokey Joe… I rarely us this thing, primarily used by the kids for ‘smores or when I need additional grill space.

BTW, Every Labor Day and Memorial Day weekend, Home Depot has a killer price on BBQ charcoal….. 2 20lbs Kingsford bags for 11.99 for you charcoal guys, make sure you stock up for winter this Labor Day…

Been using my new Weber Genesis almost every night the past 10 days – should have bought it last year but I limped the old Charbroil along for anotber year. If one is a griller, life is too short not to have the weber gas grill. It’s cooking par-excellance. No other gas grill will ever measure up after using this one.

I also have a Weber Charcoal Performer model bought about 96 as well – it was the first year those came out with the table and wheels attached to the pot. We use it a lot and for special occasions. I have used 3 – 15 lb bags of charcoal this year because the old one was dying. We use a chimney starter as well. I used to live for grilling on the bbq – went decades cooking almost every night.

My sons and I split the DTV deal last season. I have the satellite tv feed of Ram and every other game every week(except the viking and broncos becuase they’re my local TV market games) and the boys use the remote device feed in a different city on their pc and phone’s I think. So, I think that was available last season to DTV satellite subscribers or at least a version of it was available.

Non DTV subscribers coudldn’t get it last year from what I understand.

There are some unit and personnel issues but I do think their staff and overcome those with what they have on board. So, my thing is can they finally overcome their youth? They have a lot of young talented guys. Can they grow up and come together with a purpose? Those are my questions. Can they collectively play to win all their games regardless of where their snooker ball sits, adversity, injuries or any other unknown surprises?

These are my questions – beside what to cook for game day week 1. I’m open to suggestions. I only have two months or so to come up with a suitable menu.

And then the Detroit Tigers showed up – 14 to 5. Dodgers pitchers gave up 14 funs – f…ing runs after they had 5 to 0 lead.

Greinke and Sherzer tonight. Ought to be a decent game.

Had a college class based on the Connection Series – an easy A amidst all the algebra. Watched some of the cosmos stuff but so long ago about all I remember is the “billions and billions” line.

What about Rat Patrol? I thought that was the coolest show on TV when I was 7.

    Storyline

Set in North Africa during World War II, this series chronicles the adventures of a 4-man team of commandos within the Long Range Desert Group. (In utter defiance of historical accuracy, the team consists of three Americans and one Brit.) Armed with jeeps equipped with .50-caliber machine guns–and endless chutzpah–they wage a highly irregular war against Rommel’s Afrika Korps. Their most common nemesis is Hauptmann Dietrich, though Dietrich and the Rats join forces from time to time against a common enemy. Written by Marg Baskin <marg@asd.raytheon.ca>

    6′-5″, 366 lbs, runs a 40 in 4.51 and does 47 reps of 225 –

I see why teams want to see him up close and personal but which of these numbers are right? I’d guess the 366 lbs.

    11 sounds much more dramatic.

But, if it’s 9, that’s what it is. 9 would likely mean playoffs with the extra wildcard. Are they doing that this season?

Tough schedule and a tough division. Lots of large livers in the NFC West these days. 9 wins could be a huge step up for a young and coming bunch of Rams.

Get to know a rookie: Abasi Salimu

    July, 4, 2014

    By Nick Wagoner | ESPN.com

EARTH CITY, Mo. — We have officially reached the closest thing to a dead period the NFL has to offer these days as organized team activities are over and training camp has not yet arrived.

That means vacation time for the players, coaches and, yes, reporters. In the meantime, let’s get to know some of the lesser-known additions to the St. Louis Rams’ roster: the rookie free agents.

    Abasi Salimu

    Position: Offensive tackle

    College: Nicholls State

    Height: 6-foot-5

    Weight: 310 pounds

Stat to know: Salimu was a two-season starter at left tackle for Nicholls State after transferring over from San Jose State, where he spent his first three seasons. Earned Southland Conference honorable mention honors in 2012 and second-team honors as a senior in 2013. He played in all 24 games in his two seasons for the Colonels.

Road to the roster: Of the many spots that need sorting out on the roster, the offensive line is one of the most crowded. There are plenty of players on the roster who are probably safe in their spots and a couple of positions that could be coin flips between two or three players. The Rams have a penchant for keeping more linemen than other teams, and they could do so again but it’s going to be tough for Salimu to be one of them. He projects as a tackle with some versatility to play guard, but he is going to have to beat out a long list of people to make it. The chances of that happening are slim, but he would do well to show enough to land a spot on the practice squad where line coach Paul Boudreau likes to stash prospects with potential.

If the Rams win something, he’ll be top 12. If Sam finishes the season relatively unscathed with the same numbers he was projecting last season under center, he will rate in the top 12 or at least my top 12.

Because of how QB’s are rated in a team game where winning is not quite but almost everything from a rating perspective, Sam B isn’t in the top 12. Would Flacco or Wilson or Eli be if they hadn’t won a SB? Who knows is my answer to that. But, from a talent and projection perspective I think he’s close now and could leap way up if he stays healthy and his team wins something – anything – above 500 even.
