I was at at the game. Sorry, I couldn’t start a thread for some reason, so I’ll give a brief description of our experience here.

I flew into Ontario from San Jose and we spent time with my brother in the high desert…drinking marghs and watching the Dodgers lose. Left the house about around 9 on Sunday and found parking in a neighborhood driveway for $45. My brother is friends with the ticket seller and provided GPS coordinates to the best area. Worked like a charm and we only had to walk a quarter mile to the stadium, drinking beers and shots along the way and mingling with the locals. Considering the disruption every event here has on their lives, they were pretty cool. Unfortunately, I can see the area get gentrified, just like 3rd street did around Oracle Stadium in San Francisco.

The stadium. All I can say is…this place is incredible. Awesome. And it’s huge.  You don’t even see the building until you’re right there, unlike Levi’s, which you can see from miles away. The field is 100 feet below ground to conform with FAA rules… It’s under the flight path to LAX. Anyway, getting in was easy, security was friendly and helpful. Once in, it’s really confusing to get around, even with the attendants assistance. The concourses are wide so you’re not shoulder to shoulder getting in or out.  We found our seats, we were on the second level, just off the west endzone), grabbed some beverages (yes, very expensive but the lines were short, same as the restrooms) and took in the views from our seats about 30 minutes from game time. The sheer size of the place boggles the mind. And that score board…the Infinity Vision. Watching it during the game, I felt information overload. It not only shows the game but game stats from our game and around the league. I felt myself looking up too much and missing the real action on the field.

The fans- Same old LA fans, different century. I went to games at the Big A in Anaheim back in the late 80s and early 90s. The fans mainly sat in their seats and on third downs, same thing. Just a real lack of enthusiasm. Maybe it was the opponent or the team struggling but you would expect a partisan crowd that just experienced a Super Bowl title would be more into the game. The passion just wasn’t there.  At Levi’s last year everyone stood the entire game and made constant noise. The general consensus is LA hadn’t had a team in 22 years so it would take time to get the area back on board. There’s something to that so I’ll give them a pass.

The game- The Rams started slowly- again- but I don’t think anyone doubted the ultimate out come. The D showed up and the offense moved the ball. That pick six should have been caught by Kupp. But you guys know how the game went down.

Overall, a great but expensive experience. Going to this palace is a bucket list item and I plan on going annually.

I’d post pics, but this site is rather archaic and doesn’t make uploading photos easy.

So, the 49ers offense ranks 9th in the NFL when facing zone defense & dead last when facing man coverage. Does Morris adjust accordingly & play man coverage on Monday night or does he help SF out & stick with zone? Something to keep an eye on Monday night.

Nailed it. I remember a comment from a 49er defensive lineman after the CG…He was asked about the Rams selling out against the run and playing man…something like, “It took them long enough to figure it out.”

If they give up the middle of the field, it’s gonna be a long night. Jimmy can’t throw long or the out, but he’s been really good with getting the ball out quickly on short/medium routes underneath, especially against our Rams.

I think the Rams can move the ball on anyone, but the defensive scheme will be key Monday night.

    Hi, All. Long time.

Long story here involving me and my brother and sister. But first my personal experience. I’m vaxxed and boosted x2. Yeah, I trust science and vaccines are the greatest medical accomplishment in human history.  Two weeks ago I flew to Portland. I even bought N95 masks and wore it on the aircraft. Five days into a nice beach vacation, I tested positive for Covid. We drove home instead of exposing people I don’t know to a potentially deadly virus. So 11 days of not so fun. I was miserable. It kicked my ass. I’m negative now but still have lingering effects. I’m damn glad I was vaxxed.

Now to my brother and sister. 64 and 65 respectively. Sis is QAnon and believes in Chemtrail conspiracy. Fire and brimstone born-again Baptist. Enough said. Completely anti-vax and encourages her kids to not vax their her grandchildren. They don’t listen to her, thankfully. My brother is another story. He’s not very political, but thinks he’s Superman;  his immune system will fight off anything. Granted, he’s in excellent physical condition (Middle School PE teacher) and can still put an Elway Cross on your chest with a football. So we argued about vaccines with me countering his Superman stance with the -fact- that to ward off disease, the immune system needs to be trained and there’s just two ways to do that. 1. Get a disease and hope you live through it or 2. Get vaxxed. He did get the first two shots in order to keep his job but was resentful. He did take a flu shot a few years back “and got the flu.” No, his body reacted in a good way to the vaccine. Anyway, nothing I say can change his mind.

That’s the problem. In most cases of vaxx hesitancy, it’s political and the mind shuts like a steel trap. All the guys I golf with have gotten covid but about half are still hesitant about the booster and won’t take it. I point out it was the Trump Administration that pushed Warp Speed and they just give me a dumb look and say, “I don’t know what’s in it.” Yeah, and if you did dumb ass, you wouldn’t understand how it even works in the human body.

    It’s exasperating.

I had major anxiety all week. I wanted another shot at those Hineys. For a while there, I was thinking, “What the fuck was I thinking?” Then after the second Kupp TD I knew we had it in the bag. The Niners couldn’t run the ball and left it in Jimmy G’s hands. A nightmare scenario for them and he came through. For us.

I’m proud of this team. Go Rams.

If Morris doesn’t adjust, that line won’t matter. Aaron Jones is likely out and we’ll see a ton of AJ Dillon and short passes over the middle with a sprinkle of Devonte Adams. I just hope Morris grows a brain and puts Ramsey over DA and drops the linebackers to cut off the intermediate horizontal routes.

I agree that Rittenhouse should have been “guilty of something.” He really did a stupid thing by simply injecting himself into a riot… But I think the prosecutor really fucked up by going for the Hail Mary, intentional murder charge. Clearly, the videos showed otherwise.

My question for you, as a lawyer, is…what did you think of the Judge and his interactions with the prosecution? I mean, he was PISSED.

I was at the game. Here’s my report.

Atmosphere. Like every Rams-Niner game I’ve been to, save 07, when both teams stunk, it was really good. For a rivalry game, the two fan bases get on real well. I saw no problems, no fights or taunting. I was surprised at the number of empty seats between the 20’s. Way fewer Ram fans than previous years.

    Now my take..

Now my take. I was sitting just off the 20 yard line, Rams side. On offense, the Niners came in with very simple, obvious goals- run at Donald and Floyd to protect their weak right (right tackle is OFS) and take quick shots over the middle. Keep the Rams offense off the field. Mission accomplished. Time of Possession 40-20, Niners. And the Rams were quite accommodating by lining their corners two miles off the LOS. I’ve been bitching about this all year. And where the fuck was Ramsey? A shut-down corner should be blanketing the opponents best WR. Really, I can see why Raheem Morris got run of of Atlanta and everywhere else he’s been. He really needs to go and McVay has to stop making excuses for his DC. It was really frustrating to watch this D struggle against a team with a mediocre QB and just two weapons- Kittle (who absolutely destroyed Von Miller) and Samuels.

On offense, the Rams struggled, as you all saw, against a Niners D that basically played a vanilla scheme with one safety playing back in Montana. They dropped the backers and took away the horizontal game (which is what everyone is doing to Patrick Mahomes) and absolutely did not fear the run game. Stafford had plenty of time to throw, mostly. On the first INT, I had a straight line of sight. Stafford threw the ball where OB had inside position and could have made a jump on but flat out gave up on the play. Flat. Out. Gave. Up. Hopkins, Adams and any other “elite” WR would have at least TRIED to make that play. He was a non-factor, 2-18 yards. On the second pick Higbee gave his best “hands of stone” imitation. Hit a guy in the hands, he has to make the catch. The rest of the night, the Rams were out of sync offensively, which I can understand since they weren’t on the field to get any semblance of rhythm. When they were on the field, it was mostly 11 personnel. Remember fucking Chicago in 18? C’mon, change it up once in a while. Clearly, this offense needs a workhorse back to make the 11 go and keep what is more and more a suspect D off the field. Henderson and Michel do not fit the bill. Kupp was Kupp but OB needs to get his best Robert Woods imitation going or a season with high expectations is going to be a disaster.

So McVay has his work cut out and he’s got two weeks to fix it.

My take…like last week, it was the oline folding. And it’s also lack of a burner that can stretch the field. I think we miss Cooks, despite his inconsistent play and injuries. His speed had to be accounted for by DCs. Now, it’s just a short, horizontal passing game. I don’t remember if they took a deep strike at all yesterday.

What a turn of events in two weeks…in control of the division, then the humiliation of losing to the Jets and now the injuries.

I’m surprised this is even brought up today…These quarterbacks (and the systems that are devised for them) have been easy to solve. See the halcyon days of Kaepernick and RGIII, the so-called robo-quarterbacks. They had a two or three year run, then defenses solved their games, particularly the option…And, as one scout said and I paraphrase…”There are lots of old drop back quarterbacks and no old mobile quarterbacks.” Their mobility is a great asset, but ends up being their undoing injury wise.

It’s going to be interesting when they put the plastic panels on…will it have its own unique atmosphere? Like the airship hangars at the old Moffett Field NAS?

Late to the party here. I’d be pissed if I were a Saints fan. But- like others have mentioned, two missed facemask calls (one of which would have resulted in a first and goal at the Saints one) and not one, but two missed delay of game calls. Clearly, this crew wanted no part of affecting the game. And as a result, they did anyway. They let the two teams play. I would bet my last dollar that the flags will be a-flying in Atlanta. Which I think works against the Patriots.

One last note on Coleman. Had he played the ball and not the man, it’s an interception and possibly a pick 6.

I’m not surprised that today was spent crying about that call. It was a mistake, and it happened at a crucial moment.

But my guess is that Phase Two of this conversation is going to belong to the Cooler Heads. I think we will hear more of the Colin Cowherd kind of perspective tomorrow.

A football team has 60 minutes to put away the other team. That’s the task. Put the other team away…so that no Variable can come into play, and change the outcome.

A Variable is one of those plays that can turn the tide that is not under control of the team. Things like a gust of wind, a fluke bounce, an injury, a bad call, a blown assignment, a drop, a time mismanagement, a deserved penalty…. Every team strives to put themselves in a position that they are far enough ahead that a Variable can’t affect the outcome.

Here’s the deal: The Saints had the advantage in the beginning of the game, and they failed to put a lock on the game. They had two red zone opportunities in the first quarter, and came away with 2 FG. They failed to score TDs. In any game, there are several Opportunity plays. Several situations in which a team has an Opportunity to force its will on the other team. The Saints came out on the short end of those Opportunity plays.

The Saints got out to a 13-0 lead. The Rams failed to get a first down in the first quarter. But after that point, the Rams won the game statistically. They kept Bashing On, Regardless.

The non-PI call was not the last play of the game. It did not determine the winner. On the very next play, in fact, the Saints kicked a field goal and took a 3-point lead with 1:40 to go. They were winning AFTER that play. They did not lose because of that play. They lost because of what happened AFTER that play.

The Rams took the kickoff, and drove down the field to get close enough for GZ to kick a 48-yard FG – with the season on the line, on the road – and he drilled it. Tie game.

THEN. The Saints won the toss and got the ball. Suh and Fowler collapsed the pocket, and Fowler got a hand on Brees, and his pass went up for grabs (a Variable), and JJ made the play.

THEN. The Rams got close enough for GZ to try an NFC record 57-yard FG on the road, with the season on the line – and he drilled it.

There were several Opportunities in this game, and the Rams won most of them. They won statistically. And they scored more points.

The Saints lost this game because – over 60 minutes – they came up short. Not on one play. The Rams won. The Saints lost. And I think intelligent sports fans will see that. To say that play cost the Saints the game is Cherry-Picking. It ignores the entire story.

I absolutely do not believe that the Rams were unworthy of that victory, or given a Gift. No asterisk.

As for the people who see it otherwise…enh…don’t care. Yeah, for some people, this will be the Blown PI game.

I don’t care. They are wrong, and I don’t care.

This is the best, most epic post I’ve seen on this board in years. You nailed it, Zooey.

You’re right…it wasn’t one play. It was failure on the Saints to press the accelerator when they had a 13-0 lead. They played not to lose and lost. Sucks to be them. Of all fan bases, we know that very well, having endured it in SB 36.

One thing is certain. The refs in SB 53 won’t hesitate to throw the flags…and that evens the playing field for us.

I don’t have much knowldege of the 49ers this year. After Garoppolo went down, the season was over, and I have not heard anything about them since. They had already lost McKinnon, I think. So that’s that. Whatever they had to offer, it was gone. Just imagine the Rams without Goff and Gurley.

    Season Over.

Usually I unavoidably hear about the 9ers (and Raiders) because that’s what people talk about up and down the radio dial. But 9er talk just stopped, basically. All the fans and the radio hosts just turned the page.

Matt Breida and Dante Pettis are also out, so the 49ers will not score. I’m sure the Rams will make RB Jeff Wilson look like a legitimate NFL RB since the Rams are good at that kind of thing, but it won’t be enough.

This has all the makings of one of those games that will resemble an NFL game in a semi-satisfying way for about the first 28 minutes, and then just turn into a time-killing slopfest with the Rams just playing not to lose, and the 49ers mentally cleaning out their lockers by halftime. I think it’s going to be difficult to sit through.

Not sure about your take on the Niners. Several weeks ago Shanahan made it very clear that he and the staff would be watching for any lack of effort from his players. They’ve played pretty well since then. Their QB, Mullens, is fearless and has put up good numbers since he took the starting job and the Rams absolutely need to spy on Kittle, who is a beast. On the plus side for us, their red-zone offense is pathetic. This was a problem even with Garropollo.

I see this as a trap game. I’m just hoping the Rams can get out to a big lead early and sit some starters in the 2nd half.
