ZooeyModeratorI’ve always hated the Raiders, and I’m not going to stop now.
Don’t think I haven’t noticed that everybody is giving me the Silent Treatment over this.
I see you. I know everybody on this board admires the Raiders. Your veil is pretty thin.
As for me and my house, though, we will serve the Rams.
ZooeyModeratorWe will rally around Baker Mayfield, and play disastrous football.
Did you watch the video joemad posted?
I was surprised by Bayless’ strong support of Mayfield.

ZooeyModeratorWhy on earth would they play Mayfield tonight unless Perkins gets injured? That would be absurd. And insulting to Perkins. And for what? He’s had no reps.
ZooeyModeratorI’ve always hated the Raiders, and I’m not going to stop now.
ZooeyModeratorSorry!
My objection was to the idea of starting Mayfield as a means of evaluating and developing the WRs in the last 5 games.
I don’t mind bringing him in to play scout QB, and see if he has learned anything about leading a locker room. He’s low cost, low risk, and potentially high upside.
I just don’t see him starting for the Rams this year. I see this more as early OTAs.
ZooeyModeratorFrom my living room vantage point, this looks like a cheap way to kick the tires on a guy who might compete for the #2 QB slot next season.
He’s not the answer to anything this season. It’s low risk, anyhow. He has a chance to regroup in the next month, or he’s on the street again, having gone 0-3 in the NFL.
ZooeyModeratorHere is an idea that I do not love:
The #Rams 100% should claim Baker Mayfield. Would give them the best chance to evaluate the WRs and develop them in the last 5 games.

ZooeyModeratorI do think that Stafford will say he wants the OLine upgraded. In other words, get a LOT in free agency or he’ll retire. There is a rumor the Titans may cut Taylor Lewan in a cost cutting move, and if that is true, I think a one year or two year deal, would be good sign for us then.
The problem isn’t lack of talent.
It’s lack of health, and a musical chairs rotation throughout the line.

ZooeyModeratorI saw some of it.
Powell made some use of himself, and that was encouraging.
Considering how many frontline players were out, I will take it.

ZooeyModeratorThis is how I explain the 8 year war in Donbass to my British friends. I find it a pretty good analogy. Imagine if an English nationalist gov took power in London. And announced the suppression of Scottish culture…. Like ukr did to its Russian pop in 2014. What would happen?

ZooeyModeratorWhat the hell is going on in the RB room?

ZooeyModeratorYeah, I don’t think it’s Super Bowl hangover, either. You can win with a few players going down here and there, even a couple for the season, but you cannot win with an incoherent OL. It can’t be done.
The defense, I gather, is still holding its own.
This is the last game I’m going to miss this season, I think, although I may miss a weekend or two in January. Anyway, it’s nice to pull up my chair and begin watching during garbage time….

ZooeyModeratorOkay.
I just watched that for the second time.
And I am open to different interpretations. Maybe there is something I’m missing. But I don’t see a single thing in that monologue – or in his comments on trans people – that strikes me as unfair, or untrue, or even hurtful. Granted, I am a member of a privileged demographic, and I haven’t experienced the pain that plagues trans people, or Jews, or the Black people, or anything else.
But I don’t get anything from Dave Chapelle that makes me think he is willfully, or even inadvertently, harming any group of people.
And I think that Chapelle and Carlin are the best comedians that the USA has ever produced.
ZooeyModeratorWell, Kupp is having surgery, but they say out 4 weeks.
Alaric Jackson is out for the year. Chandler Brewer is out for a month.
This is an opportunity to try Robert Rochell at OT, seems like.
ZooeyModeratorI picked a good season to miss, it seems.
The only games I’ve seen this year are the Buffalo game and the 1st 9ers game. I’ve missed every Sunday game all season long for…reasons.
I had some hope a week ago because it looked like the OL was returning to health, but this is now a lost year.
I also have to think OBJ is not going to sign into this train wreck, so we’ve probably permanently lost him as well.

ZooeyModeratorGood luck with the move, Mack.

ZooeyModeratorWeird bit from a CBS article. Am I misreading this?
The Los Angeles Rams are very interested in trading for a pass rusher before the Nov. 1 deadline according to multiple league sources, and they’re closely watching the Broncos in London on Sunday morning.
The Rams are interested in Broncos pass rusher Bradley Chubb, who’s near or at the top of the Rams’ wish list. Chubb is currently on his fifth-year option, so the Rams would need to feel sure they could negotiate a long-term deal with him before making the trade.
The Rams have told teams they’re willing to part with future first-round picks, but the Rams don’t have one in 2023 by virtue of the Matthew Stafford trade. That’s complicating matters because a team would be trading a blue-chip player for compensation they wouldn’t see for a year.
The Rams were recently outbid by the 49ers for Christian McCaffrey. Their lack of a fourth-round pick helped San Francisco to win out for the running back’s services.
Available pass rushers aren’t falling off trees. Carolina appears unwilling to part with Brian Burns. L.A. was relieved to see Philadelphia scoop up Robert Quinn knowing the former Ram likely didn’t want a reunion with the team and the fact that the Eagles were some of their main competition at edge rusher.
The Kansas City Chiefs are also deeply interested in a pass rusher. With the teams being in opposite divisions, they’re not necessarily battling one another for the same players. Denver, for example, should have no interest in trading Chubb to their AFC West rivals.
@@@@@@@@@@
Why would Quinn be opposed to a reunion with the Rams?
And, although it takes the Eagles out of the competition for Chubb, the Eagles got Quinn, and the Rams so far have nothing, so personally…I don’t feel relief.

ZooeyModeratorAt CBS, it’s unanimous: all 8 experts pick the 9ers.
