I would put the Rams at #1, and the Buccaneers at #28.

I have peroneal tendonitis. Developed sometime late May/early June. There are times I feel fine, and times it flares up and I have to limp. As far as I can tell, the less I stress my ankle, the better I feel. Less ascending/descending is better. But a lot of standing/walking/pushing wheelbarrows uphill, the more likely I am to feel pain and weakness. It hasn’t gone away yet.

The pain can be brief. I can be having acute pain one moment, and be fine 2 minutes later. Rest helps.

I have no idea if my experience is relevant or typical, but on the basis of My Ankle, I’m going to guess that Stafford will throw some bad interceptions, like last year, and be great most of the time, like last year. So, yeah, it worries me, but I’m always worried.

I don’t know what is just in this case.

And I’m a little scared of judges who think they do know.

I don’t think there has ever been this many really good QBs in the league at the same time.

Yeah there’s something to that isn’t there. Even though they lost a few in recent years too. Going back to 2020: Eli, Brees, Roethlisberger, Luck, Rivers. Along with some “perpetual #2s who started sometimes” like McCown, Fitzpatrick, and Smith.

It just feels like there are 10 or 12 guys who are good enough to elevate a team with flaws to win the Super Bowl.

And another half dozen who are as good as most of the Super Bowl winners. And another half dozen who are better than Trent Dilfer.

It just looks like there are a lot of really good teams right now. This is going to be a quality year of football.

I thought there had been 56 Super Bowls. Do you not know who won that one?

I liked Danny when he was with the Rams, and I was bummed that he left, but I think I would have been happy for him no matter where he went. Except the Patriots. F that guy.

Would love to have Steven Jackson now. Or healthy Todd Gurley.

We don’t know what we have in Akers yet, really, but I don’t think he is going to join the list of Rams greats at that position. Akers strikes me as a more powerful, less elusive Wendell Tyler. I do look forward to watching him this coming year, though. If he can be a good blocker as well as do the other things he does, he will be good enough. I just…man. Steven Jackson.

His signing came at an odd time, but A’Shawn Robinson was one of the best players in the second half and playoffs, recording 22 tackles and a sack in LA’s postseason run. He can be elite.

[/spoiler]You know, I look at this at it makes me wonder. How much of this is the AD effect?

I will be interested to see how SJD does for the Chargers this year.

Yeah, I don’t think Seattle is going to trade for a QB. They are in a tear down right now. They can ride with Lock and win 3 games, and get one of the top 3 QBs in the draft next year, or a bunch of capital in exchange for that high pick. Why would they want to give up assets for Jimmy G, and win 6 or 7 games?

The Browns make a little sense, but they aren’t going to give up much. A conditional late round pick, maybe.

I don’t know Kupp’s 40 time, but I would guess he isn’t particularly fast in a straight line. He doesn’t just blow the top off. He has got behind everyone sometimes, but that isn’t where he excels. Seems to me that he is particularly fast in messy fields. He spins or ducks or darts by guys for an extra 5 – 10 YAC often, when he has no real business doing it. When he is well-contained. He’s just really, really elusive. And strong. He churns yards, too.

I think Jalen has been the most ‘complete’ CB, I’ve ever seen on a Ram team. (That goes back to 1968-69). The guy is such a force out there. A maniac. Old School in a way (on the field). AW was great but he was past his prime by the time he was a Ram. I think of him more as a safety on the Rams. w v

    Agree.

BTW, Las Vegas has the over/under on Trey Lance TD throws at 21.5

I would think Vegas wouldn’t have that line if they hadn’t talked to people-in-the-know in San Francisco.

On the 9ers and JimmyG. Again, the 9ers are screwed on this.

I won’t believe the “doubt” narrative on Lance until I see him flounder as the starter, or if the 9ers keep JG, and start him over Lance. I don’t believe the 9ers. This team had “unnamed sources” claiming the 9ers had received an offer of 2 first round picks for JG back in February. And I called BS on that at the time. That was bait for QB-needy teams to make a high offer. If anybody had offered that, he would have been traded already. The 9ers thought they could parlay him and reap a bounty. Didn’t happen.

I think the 9ers are trying to increase his trade potential now by feigning reluctance to move him.

In any event, JimmyG was emotionally “out of there” at the end of the season. He said “Goodbye” to all his teammates. He believes he is done there, and that is from a guy in the QB room with Lance all year long. This is not Joe Montana holding on in spite of sharing the QB room with Steve Young. JG has folded. He has packed his bags, and is waiting for the bus. It’s obviously possible they keep him, but Shanahan is going to have a hard time convincing him that he has confidence in him. The 9ers are a little bit broken right now.

They probably have Cleveland as their #1 mark, and we will see what happens when the Watson punishment gets doled out. If Watson gets a short suspension, or none at all, the Browns are out of the JimmyG market. If he gets 10+ games, then…maybe they will kick the tires on JG. But the 9ers are running out of potential trade destinations, and the clock is running down.

I think they are going to get very little or nothing for Garrapolo, or start the season with tension between QB and coaches. They’re screwed. Love to see it.

I think SF was the only team that really played them close. The other 2 games were close because of inexplicable flukes and injuries.

Interesting. Good points. But…we can’t overlook the fact that you disagreed with me. As if there was never going to be consequences.

Well, when you go around saying on a Rams board that you think the Rams shouldn’t have won, you should expect some push back.
