That Bobby Brown tackle. When that happened, I gasped. He didn’t really get a body on him, and I thought for a microsecond that the dude was going to escape the tackle, when all of a sudden, Brown just flicked him backwards like a booger.

outside of aaron donald he is probably the most physically talented player on defense. and according to pff he’s one of the highest performing players this season. and he’s only 23. had a rough two years to start his career, but he’s having a bit of a breakout this year. hoping he can keep progressing. 2024 will be his contract year.

That’s the 3rd good NT the Rams have drafted in a 4 year span. All picked in round 4 or lower. They seem to be as good at this as they are at drafting safeties in the low rounds.

    2018. Sebastian Joseph-Day. 6th round.

    2019. Greg Gaines. 4th round.

    2021. Bobby Brown. 4th round.

Plus 2021 is the same draft where they got Jones in the 3rd round.

Given their cupcake schedule, for all practical purposes the Packers are in.

That leaves the Rams, Seahawks, and Vikings battling for the final playoff spot.

The Rams and Seahawks will both likely finish 9-8, but the Rams own the tiebreaker.

The Vikings beat the 49ers but lost to the Bears so it’s hard to know what to expect from them. They get Jefferson back next week but things are still shaky at QB. At least at the moment, the Vikings own the tiebreaker over the Rams based on a better conference record. However, they could easily lose 3 or more of their final 5 games to finish 8-9 or worse.

Just expanding on what Nittany has said.

As we know the Rams face both Baltimore and SF. But also Wash, NO, and NYG. If they lose 2 of those 5 and end up 9-8, as we know they’re in over Seattle. If they beat either Balt or SF they go 10-7 and it’s unlikely either Minn or Seattle could overtake that.

Assuming the Rams go 9/8, to lose its 6th seed spot GB would have to win only 2 of the next 5 games. They play NYG, Tampa, Carolina, Minn, and Chi. Does anyone see 3 losses in those games? Though anything can happen of course, which doesn’t make it likely.

Minnesota‘s remaining schedule is a meat grinder. I don’t see how they could come out of that in the lead for spot 7. They face the Raiders, but also Cinn, GB, and Detroit twice. The luster is off for Dobbs, who threw 4 INTs against the Bears. If the Rams go 9/8, then Minn has to win 3 games because they have a tie-breaker with the Rams.

Seattle faces SF and Phil in consecutive games. They are capable of beating Pitt, Arz, and Tenn. But then for them to get the 7 spot, they need to be a game up on the Rams. Assuming the Rams go 9/8, to get in Seattle has to win 4 of the next 5. That means they have to beat SF or Phil while also winning the ones they look like the can win.

yeah.  they’re gonna have to hit another home run.  should be exciting.

My take on that is simple. If they did it before they can do it again. 2023 wasn’t luck. They hit on a lot of players both in the draft and in trades and bargain free agency (well except a kicker). So it’s in them to do it again.

An injury of the acromioclavicular joint targets the area where the shoulder blade (scapula) meets the collarbone (clavicle). The injury typically takes place in the form of a sprain, forcing the tendon apart by some type of blunt force trauma.

Odds are really great he came back Sunday because they shot him up with a localized pain killer.

The Ravens have allowed 129 (Arz), 178 (Clev) and 136 (Cincy) on the ground over their last 5 games. They haven’t allowed 200 yards passing during that span. So naturally, McVay will come out throwing!! In beating the Ravens, the Browns scored 2 offensive TDs, kicked 4 FGs and had a pick 6. The last time we played them we had 300 yards passing and 73 yards on the ground. And OBJ caught the winning TD with 0:57 left. Of course that was vs. Tyler Huntley not Lamar.

A win is not impossible but it’s going to take a Herculean effort and a complete game. That’s something we’ve had a hard time producing this year. And we have to stop the run vs Baltimore. Not easy.

If we “only” have 9 wins, we’re gonna need help. Losing tie breaker to Green Bay and most likely Minnesota based on common opponents. There is an unfortunate scenario where we end up with 9 wins and miss out.

I’ve said it before but I think Kyren is the best red zone weapon that the Rams have had in quite some time

There’s a stat called NFL Team Red Zone Scoring Percentage (TD only)

For years the Rams under McVay lagged in the mediocre range with those stats. This year they’re 7th. That’s the best the Rams have done with this stat under McVay.

The Rams had four players with 4+ pressures on defense yesterday. Aaron Donald led the way with 8! Michael Hoecht, Ernest Jones, and Kobie Turner all had 4.

It is truly such a joy watching/listening to Rams RB Kyren Williams talk about his teammates and their contributions (whether they’ve impacted his success or achieved their own). Highly encourage watching his press conference from this afternoon when it’s uploaded.

Which leads me to ask a question I brought up during the Chat: “Where did Atwell go?” I don’t remember seeing him after his only catch.

    from https://theramswire.usatoday.com/lists/rams-browns-snap-counts-week-13-demarcus-robinson/

Below are the full snap counts on offense and defense in Week 13.

    Offense

Cooper Kupp played all but one snap, leading all Rams receivers in playing time. Puka Nacua would’ve been right there with him, but he left with a shoulder and rib injury in the first half, only to return in the third quarter. Interestingly, Robinson played 13 more snaps than Atwell, catching four passes for 55 yards and a touchdown. Atwell had just one 9-yard reception. Ben Skowronek played 24 snaps in place of Nacua.

At running back, the Rams did nothing to limit Kyren Williams’ workload. He played all but four snaps, with Royce Freman filling in as the backup with just one carry.

Tyler Higbee left and was evaluated for a concussion, which gave Hunter Long more playing time. Long played 21 snaps, replacing Higbee in the time that he missed. Davis Allen only played one snap.

    Defense

That is some nice vision running by Kyren Williams. He’s had his blocking break down a couple times (Browns were throwing everything at the run with a single high safety)  and he was able to counter a miss or error or two and slip some contact for a gain.

No telling where it goes from here, but personally very glad the Rams chose to retool rather than rebuild. So many lasting benefits to this climb back to contention, in my opinion. Performances during this win streak validate they were right to bet on themselves.
    .
I’m saying it early specifically because it’s not dependent on the final five outcomes. They swept two divisions foes. Have shown on offense and defense they are worthy of being in playoff contention. Rebuilding with 9 and 99 playing like this would have been unfortunate.

Rams Week 13 OL PFF Grades:

    LT Alaric Jackson – 63.8 PBLK | 71.8 RBLK
    LG Steve Avila – 68.2 | 45.3
    C Coleman Shelton – 63.0 | 69.9
    RG Kevin Dotson – 60.2 | 44.2
    RT Rob Havenstein – 52.0 | 71.2

    9 Pressures Allowed

    from: https://www.turfshowtimes.com/2023/12/4/23987822/rams-offensive-line-steps-up-cleveland-browns-nfc-playoff-picture

Jackson is now starting to come into his own at left tackle, rookie LG Steve Avila looks to be a cornerstone player for years to come, and RG Kevin Dotson, who currently sports a fantastic PFF score of 88.9, may have been the best trade made by any team in the offseason. This rings even more true when you consider that LA only gave up swapping some mid-to-late round picks between 2024 and 2025 with Pittsburgh to acquire the right guard. In 2024, the Steelers get the Rams’ fourth and the Rams get the Steelers’ fifth, and in 2025, the Steelers get the Rams’ fifth rounder and the Rams get the Steelers’ sixth.

    from https://www.turfshowtimes.com/2023/12/4/23987594/rams-browns-pff-grades-puka-nacua-matthew-stafford

    Top grades on defense:

    1 – Aaron Donald, DE: 84.8

Donald finished with a whopping eight pressures, tied for his most in a single game so far this season. He accomplished the same feat earlier this year against the Indianapolis Colts. Donald was consistently in the backfield and was the main disruptor of Joe Flacco while it was a relatively quiet pass rushing day for everyone else.

    2 – Ernest Jones, MLB: 79.5

Jones had a very active date on defense and finished with a team-leading 15 total tackles according to the box score. PFF credited the linebacker with eight tackles and three assists. He forced four pressures on Flacco.

    3 – John Johnson, DB: 72.6

The Browns targeted Johnson in coverage only a single time, and the veteran safety picked off Flacco and returned the ball deep into Cleveland territory to set up a game-clinching touchdown. It was sweet revenge against his former team that cut him two years into his big free agent contract, and Johnson has been coming on strong of late for LA.

With four pressures, including two sacks (PFF does not credit “half sacks), Turner now has back-to-back games with multiple quarterback takedowns. The defensive tackle is now pushing to break Donald’s rookie sack record, which only signals that good things are in store for this promising individual.

Kobie Turner ranks third in the NFL among rookie defensive linemen with 23 total pressures. The Rams are the only team with two rookies with 5+ sacks. Turner’s has 5.5 sacks, Byron Young also has 5.

When did Raheem Morris become a ‘hybrid coordinator/head coach’ ? Did i miss the memo or somethin?

Morris is officially designated as the Rams assistant head coach. It just means he inherits the head coach position if McVay misses time for any reason. It’s like he’s the VP and McVay is the president. As a rule guys become assistant head coaches if they’ve been head coaches before, which Morris has. This doesn’t subtract anything from Morris being the Rams defensive coordinator.

    — OK, well, i thought it was like being the designated figurehead. Like Nittany is on this board. Ya know. Like assistant-hybrid-vice-admin. w v

No Nittany’s powers and responsibilities are different. Morris, for example, does not have power over life and death.

    from https://www.turfshowtimes.com/2023/12/4/23987864/rams-aaron-donald-kobie-turner-sack-rookie-records

With 3.5 sacks in the last two games, including 1.5 in the L.A. Rams win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, rookie defensive tackle Kobie Turner was quickly turned around his season from a good one to potentially a great one with five contests left to go. If Turner gets four more sacks in the next five games, he will surpass Aaron Donald’s rookie total of nine sacks in 2014, the modern franchise record for a first-year player.

This is against an elite level guard too. Did the same kind of thing earlier in the year against Zach Martin too

That’s quite a sight. Donald and Turner stunting and they both get there.
