wvParticipantDamn, i did not know Puka is not Nacua’s real name. There’s a vid in another thread called “How did so many teams get wrong about rookie of the year Puka Nacua,” and the youtuber said ‘Makea’ is his real name. Puka means chubby and he was a chubby baby, so the nickname…

wvParticipantIf you look at that list of QBs on that chart, there isnt a lot of separation among them. Doesnt look like one of those years, where one QB (Brady) is lightyears ahead of the others. They are kinda bunched up. The pundits have been yak-ing about Dak all year, but his numbers arent much different from Staffords.

wvParticipantI love smash-mouth football ; I just figured that out, this season.
Avila is 6’3″ 330 pounds.
Dotson is 6’4″ 321 pounds.
I dont ever wanna see a small, agile guard again.

wvParticipantI have no clue, no inkling about what to expect in the Giant game, but I’m guessing its gonna be a gut-busting, physical, low-scoring, close, game.
My cold, rational, reasoning on this, is, the Football Gods just don’t make things easy for the Rams.
Rams 16
Giants 15

wvParticipantWell if i had the 23 pick, It’d be awfully tempting to trade down a bit. Pick up another 3rd or somethin. I dunno.

wvParticipant…. kyren is the rams most important addition to this offense since matthew stafford himself. i know nacua gets more accolades and maybe he even has a better overall career than kyren when it’s all over, but williams not only makes this offense harder to defend, but my feeling is that he will extend stafford’s career by at least another couple years if kyren can stay healthy. by far the best running back stafford has ever had the pleasure of playing with. already. and yeah. his ability to process things quickly is his strength. in a way that makes me like him more than gurley…
Yes, and its just really good team-building by Mc/Snead. They did a lot of things right. Added lots of puzzle pieces and achieved a synergy of sorts.
I mean, McV self-evaluated and apparently, saw the need for a more physical run component.
Then Snead drafted the big Guard and added the vet from the Steelers, etc.
And they added Nacua partly because he’s physical and willing to block.
And of course that shift helps Stafford stay healthy and feel confident and stay in third and short situations, etc, etc.
So, yeah, i agree about KW but its also kinda hard to separate the puzzle pieces and see them separately. Its just a really cool ‘whole’ that they all put together this year. And what makes a lot of us kinda smile, is – there’s no OBJ, no Vonn Miller, no Jalen Ramsey, etc. Its kinda fun to see a group come together like this.
Course if they lose to the Giants, they are bums and the offensive coordinator should be fired.

wvParticipantAt around the 25 min mark, Rich Eisen talks about maybe, Nacua winning Offensive Rookie of Year, and Matt Stafford winning Comeback Player of Year.
wvParticipantRams Tapes@RamsTapesAll this praise lately on Matthew Stafford, and Puka Nacua.. but can we talk about Ernest Jones? Who is ranked in the top 9 in total tackles (132) arguably currently the best blitzing LB in the NFL, has 5 sacks, 5 QB Hits, and 13 TFL’s, and has a @PFF grade of 81.5Yeah, i keep hearing celebrity-pundits describe the Rams defense as “Aaron Donald and a bunch of other guys no-one has heard of”
Its a lazy way to do tv. Non-analysis.
Ram fans know all about Ernest Jones. He’s not just a ‘guy’.

Rams favored by 6 against NYG.
Seattle favored by 4.5 against Pittsburgh
Vikings favored by 2.5 against Green Bay
Bucs favored by 3 over New Orleans
Bears favored by 3 over Atlanta
wvParticipantI was skimming that passing-yards chart and, of course, Brady is on top by a mile. His career was just astounding. But if you look at the names on that list — Marino, Elway, Rogers, Manning, etc — It never ‘seems’ like Brady was the ‘most talented.’
But Brady’s talent was inside his head. I guess. Its the only explanation that makes sense. He ‘processed’ things quickly, accurately. Better than the rest.
So, anyway, i kinda look at Kyron Williams that way. He’s like Brady. Hes not got elite-level ‘measurables’ like many star RBs. But he does something ‘inside his head’ better than the rest of em. I think. I dunno.

wvParticipantStafford needs 1293 yards to enter the top ten passing-yards leaders in NFL history. Fwiw.
Its mainly solid Hall Of Famers in the top ten, but not completely. Philip Rivers? Matt Ryan? Eli is 10th right now.
If Stafford played 3 more years, he would be in top-5 territory.
Course plenty of Hall of Famers played before the rule-changes made it a passing league.

wvParticipant…If the 49ers were to rest their starters in the final game against the Rams, one wonders how the other bubble-teams would look at that.
Or, if the Lions were to rest their starters in that final game against the Vikings…etc.
I dunno if there is any way the NFL can address situations like that.

wvParticipantThis guy is interesting.
wvParticipantI do the averages for the last 5 games only, and then compare those averages to rankings for the 16 game (so far) league-wide averages: Yards allowed per game: 254. Would rank 1st. Points allowed per game: 22.4.Would rank 19th. Turnovers per game: 0.8. Would rank 31st. Sacks per game: 2.2. Would rank 27th. % of 3rd down conversions allowed: 35.7%. Would rank 5th.
Thats some odd stats, there. First in restricting yards per game, but only 19th in points allowed.
Still winning without getting turnovers. Imagine if they were just middle of the pack in turnovers.
Merry Holiday, humans.

wvParticipant
wvParticipantAccording to a vid i saw, if the Rams beat NYG and the Steelers beat Seattle, the Rams clinch a playoff berth. So that there is one scenario.
w
v
wvParticipantLions leading the vikes 30-21 in the 4th, i see.
Amon-Ra Julien Heru St. Brown,
has 11 catches for 102 yards.
“…St. Brown was named after Amun, the supreme deity in the Egyptian religion, due to his father’s interest in black consciousness…” wiki
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amon-Ra_St._Brown
wvParticipantI think that means that if the playoffs started today LA and Seattle would both be in.
True, but think of the possibilities this year. If, say, the Rams lost to the Giants, and a bazillion things happened over the next two weeks….and five or six teams all finished 8-9.
It could come down to the 42nd tie-breaker, which i believe is, which team could name all the Dire Wolves and the order they died, on Game of Thrones.
w
v
wvParticipantI remember when the Houston Oilers built a very good team. Onliest problem was the Steelers had built a super-team.
I hope the McSnead-Rams dont end up being the Houston Oilers over the next few years.
Cuz, the 49ers look like they built a super-team.
We must burn sage and manifest crippling injuries for that north-calif team.
w
v
wvParticipantVikes lose. 7-8
Seattle wins. 8-7
Packers win. 7-8
Falcons win. 7-8
Not sure what all the permutations, and algebra would be involving possible 2 and 3 and 4 and 5-way ties. Yes, there could be a 5-way tie, i guess.
w
v
wvParticipantSo, i guess these are the games we are interested in, Sunday:
Vikings vs Lions
Packers vs Panthers
Bucs vs Jaguars
Seahawks vs Titans
49ers vs Ravens

wvParticipantTrying to boil this down into a Hack-sized post: Don’t want them to trade or cut Kupp, and I think he still holds a great deal of value for the Rams. They’re stronger with him than without him, and an off-season to regain health and focus may do wonders. But it wouldn’t surprise me if the FO decides to move on from a 31-year-old receiver, who’s taken his share of hits, all too many of them “cheap shots” in my book.
I would think it depends on what their expectations for next year. If they think they have a shot at another ring next year or the year after that — then they keep Kupp and Nakua and Higby together for a couple more years.
Just looks like now, they only need to really work on the defense. Probly have a solid two year window on offense, I’d think.
