Oh, and I’ll repeat something — this team has some beautiful drives.  Just a beautiful mix of passes and runs, short stuff, deep stuff, sideline stuff.   There’s a sports-beauty to it.

Starts with Stafford, though.   He’s Picasso.

Well, that was F’ing awesome.    Holding Kamara to 19 yards?  Are you kidding me.

    And now a mini-bye.

This is one of the most intriguing Ram-teams, i can remember.

The changes McVay made in the running game have been startlingly successful.

Yeah, and if Mc-Snead does not sign a competent vet backup-QB NEXT year, I’m gonna make it my mission in life to be crabby about it.

Well, they’ve been in this position before haven’t they — 6-6, huge game against Ravens in Baltimore.

Now, 7-7, huge game against New Orleans.  This one certainly seems more do-able but, i guess we shall see.

    tidbits on the saints, fwiw.

“The defensive backs, even without Marshon Lattimore, are the class of the team. We have come to expect high quality play from Paulson Adebo in this breakout season, but Isaac Yiadom has also stepped up immensely.  Jordan Howden had another quality game, as did Tyrann Mathieu. The amount of talent in that room is endless. — Jeremy Trottier

“This was another big game for Alvin Kamara, who made plays on the ground and through the air; he led the team in yardage both as a rusher (66) and as a receiver (44). His efforts put him over 1,000 scrimmage yards this season for the seventh time in his pro career, which set a new Saints franchise record. He’s a critically important part of the offense. — John Sigler

“..Both receiver Michael Thomas and defensive back Marshon Lattimore are eligible to return off injured reserve this week against the Los Angeles Rams, but it doesn’t sound like either of the New Orleans Saints stars will be available.

“They’re both in the rehab process … I can’t tell you exactly where they’re at,” Saints coach Dennis Allen said. “I don’t expect the practice window to open, so we’ll just keep going through the rehab process and see how it goes.”

Asked whether either would be able to return at some point during the Saints’ final three regular-season games, Allen said, “I’m hopeful, but I really don’t know the answer to that right now.”

“…The Rams have had a surprisingly lackluster pass rush, getting opposing quarterbacks on the ground just 2.2 times per game. While the Saints offensive line was bad early in the year, they’ve somehow made their way to 8th in the league in sacks allowed per game,..”

“While the Rams defensive numbers are middle of the pack, they’re 11th in the league in red zone touchdown percentage allowed at 51.28%. On the flip side, the Saints are right at 50% in the red zone this season, but over their last three games, that number has jumped to an astonishing 90% (maybe they need to keep putting Jimmy Graham in when they get inside the 20).”

Agree with all that. 100 percent In some ways Williams is the most interesting/fun RB to watch/analyze in a long time. Im not sure i can remember a rb quite like him. w v

In that chat room I predicted that you would no longer like Williams after his second fumble. You’re getting soft.

He’s ‘that’ good.   Way better than that useless fumbler Eric Dickerson.

    [quwote quote=147617]

Williams and Nakua are, like, all-pros at this point. Seriously. Amazing.

The McV/Snead Rams have a kind of mediocre history in the 2nd round. Maybe that’s changing, starting with Avilla? They have a pretty good history in the 3rd round (Jones for examle). They have an amazing record in the 4th through 6th rounds. The league-wide hit percentage in those rounds is very low. In the last 5 drafts they’ve gotten these players in those rounds: Allen, Nacua, Williams, Lake, Bobby Brown, Fuller, Gaines, and Edwards. That’s out of 19 picks, with a hit percentage of 42%, which is fantastic in those rounds. I know everyone knows this but I like finding the words for it. Namely: Williams’s superpower is in his play from handoff or pitch to hitting the LOS. Beyond the LOS he’s pretty strong for his size, has top contact balance, and is a fiercely determined straightline runner. He has those things but not the elusiveness, speed, size, or power. I mean he’s not just “a guy” in that respect but he does not have those things at the superpower level. His real magic is in those steps before he hits the LOS–vision, reads, instincts, anticipation, burst, smarts. The thing I see about Nacua is that he is constantly playing like a rookie. Drops, missed blocks, and I’ve seen where analysts find flaws in his route running. So imagine him after another training camp and refining his game to play more consistently. He could be a monster. So everything he is now but more.[/quote]

Agree with all that.  100 percent

In some ways Williams is the most interesting/fun RB to watch/analyze in a long time.

Im not sure i can remember a rb quite like him.

And my lord what a difference he makes.   Combined with the new OLine and the new blocking scheme.    I mean, some of these drives in the last few games have been glorious.  The whipsawing.  The physical nature of the running.   The way the defenses are kept off balance.  Stafford’s elite skills.   Kupp, Nakua, Higby, the new TE.   And that vet  WR they signed.   I love that guy.  Forgot his name.    Its all come together on offense.

Really really pretty drives.   Different than the super bowl year.

sloppy game. yet the rams still had control of the game for the most part. and kyren williams. wow. i know he had the two fumbles, but he makes this oline better. he makes stafford and the whole offense better. i am amazed watching him run.

Yeah, thats what i keep thinking — Williams makes this Oline look so much better.  I’m just astonished at how he quick-slithers through traffic, and then bursts.

Williams and Nakua are, like, all-pros at this point.   Seriously.  Amazing.

“What he’ll do is he’ll stand in the pocket and manipulate his arm angles and make some throws in there that’s just like, ‘Gosh dang, I can’t believe that you made this throw,’” Kupp said. “You might not see it on ESPN next night, but we see it. Aside from even that stuff, I think the way he’s managing games…”

Gosh dang it, Stafford is the Rams’ MVP.

And this is a team with Aaron Donald.

I was reading around a bit, about Washington.  They may be the worst team in the NFL.  Just a mess.   Rookie QB, disappointing WRs.  Defense has been top-ten in the past, but now they are a mess.  2 and 9 over the last 11 games.

    Rams are 6.5 point favorites.

We know whats sposed ta happen.

Season is on the line.  For all intents-and-purposes its a playoff game.

One would ‘think’ they’d be motivated.

7-7 sounds a LOT better than 6-8, dont it.

The fun thing about this team, as we’ve all noticed is the physical-running game, paired up with the usual Stafford/McV passing game.    Itz got two-dimensionality.   It aint the GSOT, but its evolving into somethin damn-solid.

The thing that stands out to me, was that game was on the Road.

Just an outstanding effort from a team that lost Ramsey, OBJ and Von Miller, etc.

Heartbreaking loss, but that is exactly the kinda of loss a team like this gives you.  A team heading in the right direction.

Very impressed with McVay and Raheem Morris.

Kyren Williams adds another 114 tough yards.  What. A. Find.    Oline has to love that kid.

Lamar Jackson – 70 yards running.  316 passing.   Lord.

Could be the Ravens year.   Ravens vs 49ers?    Looks like Chiefs, Ravens, Dolphins, Cowboys, Eagles, 49ers all have a shot.

Dont really like any of them teams.   Lions in the NFC and Browns in the AFC iz what I’m pullin for.

Ravens practice updates: Lamar Jackson missing from Thursday practice

    https://www.baltimorebeatdown.com/2023/12/7/23992482/ravens-practice-updates-lamar-jackson-missing-from-thursday-practice

    We’re guessing illness

On Thursday, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was noticeably absent from practice. Both because he’s the biggest name on the team and not on the field and the fact he was the only absence on Thursday, as wide receiver Rashod Bateman returned after missing Wednesday with an illness designation.

It’s likely Jackson is absent due to illness. He was not on the injury report yesterday with any designation following practice. Jackson has been prone to suffering illness around this team of year, which is what’s being assumed at this time. However, it’s not ideal to have Jackson miss practice against a team that’s up-and-coming during this back-half stretch and in challenging weather conditions, especially when ball security’s been an issue for this offense all season.

We’ll here more from either the podium today or when the injury report is released around 6:30 p.m. ET. Note, Head Coach John Harbaugh is not scheduled to speak, so it’s up to whether our not Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken will answer the why Jackson is absent.

When did Raheem Morris become a ‘hybrid coordinator/head coach’ ? Did i miss the memo or somethin?

Morris is officially designated as the Rams assistant head coach. It just means he inherits the head coach position if McVay misses time for any reason. It’s like he’s the VP and McVay is the president. As a rule guys become assistant head coaches if they’ve been head coaches before, which Morris has. This doesn’t subtract anything from Morris being the Rams defensive coordinator.

OK, well, i thought it was like being the designated figurehead.   Like Nittany is on this board.   Ya know.  Like assistant-hybrid-vice-admin.

Well, that article was as good as sports-journalism gets.  I hate to keep repeating myself, but JR is F’ing awesome.    Which means, of course, she will get a better offer soon, and will be covering the Cowboys or Yankees at some point.    So, savor her now.

    Btw:

“….Cuss somebody, if needed. Line up again. McVay spent those sessions with the offense, but also partially in collaboration with hybrid coordinator/head coach Raheem Morris and the dramatically inexperienced defense on some days — a hard-to-pry-away delegation of McVay’s previous obsessiveness with his offense…”
