Bills fired McDermott. Won-Loss record: 98-50. But 8-8 in playoffs.

Yer basic Chuck Knox, Marty Shottenheimer, etc.

    Dont think i realized this.

Asked Matthew Stafford about the throw he made to Davante Adams in OT (and Adams’ catch)…

You know, the Caleb miracle-play at the end of regulation is a perfect example of Caleb’s remarkable talent. And that play will get most of the media-attention. Incredible, showy, desperate, clutch, jaw-dropping play by the young running-QB.

But the pass to Davante was just as remarkable. Cool, icy, gutsy, laser-accurate, clutch, soul-stealing Stafford.

    Two very-different animals.

That was a running commentary (so to speak) in chat. Where’s the run game, where’s the run game. It’s a running commentary (so to speak) in twitter. Maybe the post-game articles will come up with something to explain it, other than it just being McVay mishandling playcalling.

And Stafford was way off in that game. Plus, lucky thing that unlike the Rams, the Bears defenders don’t know how to catch the ball. Nacua, under these conditions, was not his usual dominant self, though he came through a number of times (he caught only 50%).

But here’s what I saw that I didn’t expect. Remember earlier in the season when the Rams defense included good secondary play? Well as much as this group can do that, it did it. The secondary was tighter this game than in the last few games.

In the end what won it for the Rams (IMO) were 2 things. The INTs, and Stafford, in spite of a rough game, being steady eddy when it counted. No matter what happened (sacked 4 times, less than 50% completions) he bounced back up and engineered enough scoring drives to win it. It was clear this was not the Rams usual offensive dominance, cause it was in snow and wind and cold on the road…so the game came down to them toughing it out to do just enough to win. For that to happen Stafford had to be unflappable and just keep slugging away. He did it. Remember this is a comeback overtime win for him (comebacks count against ties).

It might sound odd, but I am glad Caleb Williams came through with huge plays. I am glad he was everything he was advertized to be. Including that impossible tying TD at the close of regulation. First, because it was fun to see–in spite of it coming at the Rams expense. But also because this way, the Rams beat them in spite of a good showing by Williams. He wasn’t like Stroud falling apart for the Texans. No, Williams was everything he was supposed to be, but the Rams toughed out a win nevertheless.

    I agree with all that.

The Bears defense may not be statistically good, but when they are at home, late in the year, in that Bear-weather, they are very tough. They were getting pressure AND blanketing the Rams receivers.

But the Rams defense was doing the same.

I dont think it was Shula, or Dennis Allen – i think it was mainly just the weather.

Tremendous TEAM-win. Offense, defense, special-teams. For a Calif team to go into that environment and gut it out, and gut it out, and gut it out — impressive.

I thought the same thing about the 49ers doing it in Philly, btw.

neither stroud nor maye are taking care of the ball. patriots are just getting luckier.

Stroud has looked abysmal for two playoff weeks now. His QB Rating is 27 at halftime.

I’m afraid I have to think that the answer to that is yes.

…The 49ers are a really good football team, and they are going to be a problem next year. A big problem.

Yeah, I think Seattle, LA, and SF might ALL be a little better next year. Picture ‘that.’

It makes the no.1 seed so critical. When all three teams are so close, it makes all the difference to get the bye and ‘not have to go to Chicago’ etc.

I cant remember McVay ever having this kind of year with special teams. I know they will focus on it in the offseason but I dont even know what the problem is. Just bad personnel decisions? Bad special teams players? Need bigger, faster, tougher guys? I dunno.

What a strange emotional-swing for Denver fans. To find out ten minutes AFTER the huge emotional playoff win, that your star QB is done for the year. I cant remember anything quite like it. Its not like the Trent Green thing.

Jarrett Stidham. 6’3″ 215 lbs. Played for Auburn in 2018. 4th Rd pick for New England in 2019. Backed up Brady.
Traded to Raiders. First NFL start he threw for 365 yards. 3 TDs, 2 INTs.

Career NFL stats: 8 TDs, 8 INTs. 78 QB rating.

So, the 49ers have all these injuries, but are they all coming back next year? Are they gonna be a force next year?

Yeah, Cooks aint gonna make many contested catches. I thought it was a good call, based on how the rules are inter-pre-tated theze days.

didn’t ahkello witherspoon get an int on a similar play?

    seahawks look good.

I dont remember the ahkello play, but i do remember why Brandon Cooks has been jettisoned by so many teams — good dude, tries hard, good team-mate, lots of speed, but the guy just doesnt make plays in traffic very often. Plays very small.

Seahawks get 41 points — on 281 yards of total offense. Darnold had 124 yards passing on 12 for 17.
Time of possession was 31 to 28.

3 Turnovers for SF. Zero for seattle.

Bo Nix is out for the year.

So whoever wins the NE/HOU game tomorrow is going to the Super Bowl.

    So… go New England?

    Damn.

That sucks. Ruins the AFC championship game. Might even ruin the Super Bowl if Denver manages to win one more.

The media will not like this. If he was gonna get himself injured, he should have had the decency to lose the game.

Another gut-wrenching loss for Buffalo. Former Ram Brandin Cooks has the ball taken from him, and then former Ram Tre’Davious White commits a terrible DPI.

Yeah, Cooks aint gonna make many contested catches. I thought it was a good call, based on how the rules are inter-pre-tated theze days.

I watched that play five times though, and it looked to me like Josh underthrew it. It wouldnt have been contested if he had hit Cooks in stride.

I would probably fire the Bills coach, myself. He’s torturing Bills fans. Better to be 7 and 10 and miss the playoffs than go through the playoff-curse-thing every year. They should hire Marv Levy.

Bills have 4 turnovers in three quarters. How are they still in this game?

I think i want Denver to win, because i think they would do better against the Pats.

I do have a soft-spot for the Bills though. That team is cursed.
