“NATO wasn’t there when we needed them.” When exactly was that, champ? September 11? Because NATO invoked Article 5 for the first and only time in history FOR YOU. Soldiers from dozens of countries deployed, fought, bled, and died in Afghanistan FOR YOU. Australia wasn’t even in NATO and we still showed up. For 20 years.

I came across this topic in a book I’m reading. I’d never heard of the ‘Workers Olympiads’. A kind-of socialist-olympics. There were 3, but the biggest was in 1931.

Many of ‘those’ will sell-out eventually as AOC and Bernie have basically done.

Blah blah, just my opinion.

I do not believe capitalism can be reformed at this late stage. I think we will see a lot of fake-reform in the future, and I think we will see monsters, soon.

I saw a quote lifted from Twitter the other day which said something like, “The middle class was just a temporary concession from the oligarchy who lived in fear of rising communism. Once they were safe from that, they went back to squeezing everybody back towards peasantry.” And I’ve thought about that a lot.

It was interesting to see the reaction to the DSA primary victories. They won 3 or 4 primaries in districts that were heavily blue anyway, and my feed has since been flooded with hand-wringing and cries of alarm from both Republicans and Democrats about the far left, and how it’s the biggest threat to the US today. So the DSA now will have about 1% of the House? And they won’t get any committee assignments where they can impede the destruction of the planet. And as we know, DSA is a fair distance from “far left” anyway, but the point is that alarms are sounding in all quarters about some pretty insignificant gains. It’s hard to believe anybody is really all that worried about it, but the significant thing is that the Dem party is very loudly and clearly telling everybody who they are. And since they are junior partners in the corporate oligarchy, and hold all the cards, there is no reason to expect anything but the usual absorption of some of them, and the political destruction of anyone who holds out on them. We will not vote our way out of this mess.

While I was aware of the Leonard/Clippers story, I hadn’t really started caring or kinda paying attention to it until he was going to be traded to the Raptors. It doesn’t sound like a resolution is near. I don’t even really understand who is leading this investigation. Is it the commissioner who works for the owners? Or is there a 3rd party, and if there is a 3rd party, is the NBA obligated to follow the findings and recommendations if Balmer faces a penalty?

It reminds me of Watergate. Pablo has pulled on a small thread and bigger and bigger crimes are implicated. Plus homelessness and housing and all this political stuff is becoming the actual story.

Unlike Watergate nothing will come of it. Cause this aint the 70s.
