InvaderRamModeratori don’t necessarily see it as a running back by committee. i see it as two backs who are perfectly capable of carrying a running game on their own. and that should make the rams running game very dangerous. dare i say they have the potential to be the best running back duo in the nfl?
InvaderRamModeratorBradford was completing around 60 percent of his passes and the only quarterback to throw fewer interceptions than Bradford was Peyton Manning. But those were bloated numbers that came during the last quarter or few minutes of the game. Since being drafted by St. Louis in 2010, the verdict is still out on Bradford, which is a pretty generous ruling.
is this actually true?
looking at his splits from espn.com
his qb rating when they won by 0-7 points was 93.1.
his qb rating when they won by 8-14 points was 105.3.
his qb rating when they won by more than 15 points actually went down to 85.9.his qb rating in the 4th quarter +/- 7 points was 136.0.
unless i’m reading this wrong he performed well during close games when they needed him to…
InvaderRamModeratoryeah. i don’t think throwing the ball has ever been a problem for bradford.
InvaderRamModeratori think jimitroutboy was a big fan of gaines. secondary could use all the help it can get. i like a lot of what the rams have done there drafting guys like gaines and joyner. tough guys who just constantly battle.
InvaderRamModeratori think the running backs step up. i actually think the running game has the potential to be dominant. as a whole. i think austin and bailey make signficant progress. not superstars like rfl says. but solid significant contributors. kendricks and harkey will be doing a lot of dirty work.
InvaderRamModeratormy pick is zac stacy. i think with this revamped oline he could put up some sick numbers.
InvaderRamModeratorSo I personally don’t predict Bradford will break out…I think he will continue to be good. Maybe the national perception of him will change as a result, but I just think he was already pretty good and will stay good.
i agree with this.
InvaderRamModeratormy pick is michael brockers. he came to the nfl with very limited experience at his position. as it is, he’s made some progress. but this is his third year in the pros. right about the time that defensive tackles come into their own. he’s physically maturing and now the mental aspect is coming around. he is surrounded by great talent. and he’s got a defensive coordinator and dline coach who are going to get the best out of him. it’s all going to come together for him this year.
next year it’ll be greg robinson.

InvaderRamModeratordid anyone find any official numbers posted from the workout?

InvaderRamModeratorwell. definitely curious to see how he performs as i’m sure a lot of teams are.
but 40+ reps and a 4.5 40 at 360 pounds???
InvaderRamModeratori agree with wv. the offensive and defensive lines will be the bread and butter for this team. much like the secondary is for seattle. i think that alone is enough to get them to 8 wins.
how much of an impact can gregg williams make? especially on the secondary.
how much of an improvement can the wide receivers make?
can bradford stay healthy the whole season?
answers to those three questions will determine how much better than 0.500 the rams can get.

InvaderRamModeratorwell that sounds like a load of bs. not buying it.
InvaderRamModeratori just want to add that the interior of this oline is the best i’ve ever witnessed on a rams team. personally witnessed. i’m sure other “wiser” fans on this board will remember other ones. hehe!
and this is without robinson having played a down of professional football yet. but i am that convinced. this running game is gonna be powerful.
InvaderRamModeratori can see bailey forming that relationship with bradford. like bradford did with clayton and amendola and lloyd before him. bailey’s gonna be the glue that brings this passing game together. i can just see it. as soon as he serves his suspension that is…
sigh.

InvaderRamModeratorit’s true that they hit the lottery with quinn. i hope the same happens with brockers and donald. then we could really have something special here. rams could use some luck right about now.
InvaderRamModeratori’m not sure i understand what all of that means. but with guys like robert quinn, michael brockers, aaron donald, alec ogletree, and tj mcdonald. it seems like this defense has the ability to morph into a lot of different things. curious to see how this all develops this season.
InvaderRamModeratorWhere they need to improve the most…and it’s not just Bradford…is on 3rd down.
That’s their big Achilles heel.
I got that from looking at the numbers for the last 2 years. Bottom third of the league.
…
what were the 3rd down stats last season before and after zac stacy? just curious.

InvaderRamModeratorcouple things.
1. imagine if he played on those gsot teams. the amount of times opposing teams had to pass as opposed to now. where opposing teams have the luxury of running a lot more.
2. there were times watching faulk that i would tear up. last season. watching quinn literally crawl over to sack brees brought tears to my eyes. just beautiful to watch.
InvaderRamModeratortrying not to dissect bradford’s play too much. just taking his career so far as a whole? he compares very favorably to eli manning. in fact. he rates better.
eli manning (first four years)
57 games 55 started 54.7% 11,385 yards 77 tds 64 ints 6.3 ypa 73.4 passer ratingsam bradford
49 games 49 started 58.6% 11,065 yards 59 tds 38 ints 6.3 ypa 79.3 passer ratingthe one area where he pales is… durability.
i think he can be better than eli. i think numbers wise. even without considering all the circumstances under which bradford has had to play. the main thing holding sam back is his ability to stay healthy.

InvaderRamModeratorRams just have not done enough with their passing game yet to do anything
that. is an odd sentence.
but yeah. the biggest thing for me at this point is injuries. every other year he’s going down. that’s just not going to cut it. although he should be in line for a full season this year if the trend holds. ha!

InvaderRamModeratori think improvement on defense could not only lower the points allowed but also potentially raise the points scored. add in a running game. and i could easily see this team increasing its point differential by 4 points. add improvement in the receivers and i could see an additional increase of 3 points.
InvaderRamModeratornice to see him getting some recognition. now we need brockers to make that jump from alright player to serious difference maker.
InvaderRamModeratori agree that bradford has the ability to be a solid tier 2 qb. my only question being can he stay healthy. these qb evals are so tricky though.
InvaderRamModeratori was worried for awhile. didn’t know what to do. this is the go to place for rams information and discussion for me. great collection of personalities too. nothing like it on the cyberweb.

InvaderRamModeratorquinn’s play on the field is about as exciting as his interviews aren’t.
InvaderRamModeratorwhen they got the ball to austin on the move, he was devastating. as a receiver. in the backfield. when he was moving and had time to scan the field, he made guys look silly. so maybe they need to get him the ball on the move. getting the ball to him on screens when he’s standing still. he’s not big enough to break tackles. and this league is too quick for him to out quick people from a stand still. but get him the ball while he’s moving. i think he’s shown he’s got great vision to get some big yards.
InvaderRamModeratorhey y’all. thanks, rm. good to be here. looks like a great board.
