ZooeyModeratorWould love to have Steven Jackson now. Or healthy Todd Gurley.
We don’t know what we have in Akers yet, really, but I don’t think he is going to join the list of Rams greats at that position. Akers strikes me as a more powerful, less elusive Wendell Tyler. I do look forward to watching him this coming year, though. If he can be a good blocker as well as do the other things he does, he will be good enough. I just…man. Steven Jackson.

ZooeyModeratorHis signing came at an odd time, but A’Shawn Robinson was one of the best players in the second half and playoffs, recording 22 tackles and a sack in LA’s postseason run. He can be elite.

[/spoiler]You know, I look at this at it makes me wonder. How much of this is the AD effect?
I will be interested to see how SJD does for the Chargers this year.

Yeah, I don’t think Seattle is going to trade for a QB. They are in a tear down right now. They can ride with Lock and win 3 games, and get one of the top 3 QBs in the draft next year, or a bunch of capital in exchange for that high pick. Why would they want to give up assets for Jimmy G, and win 6 or 7 games?
The Browns make a little sense, but they aren’t going to give up much. A conditional late round pick, maybe.
ZooeyModeratorI don’t know Kupp’s 40 time, but I would guess he isn’t particularly fast in a straight line. He doesn’t just blow the top off. He has got behind everyone sometimes, but that isn’t where he excels. Seems to me that he is particularly fast in messy fields. He spins or ducks or darts by guys for an extra 5 – 10 YAC often, when he has no real business doing it. When he is well-contained. He’s just really, really elusive. And strong. He churns yards, too.
ZooeyModeratorI think Jalen has been the most ācompleteā CB, Iāve ever seen on a Ram team. (That goes back to 1968-69). The guy is such a force out there. A maniac. Old School in a way (on the field). AW was great but he was past his prime by the time he was a Ram. I think of him more as a safety on the Rams. w v
Agree.
ZooeyModeratorPeople can badly evaluate CB play, especially in games where a WR makes a long play on a CB.
Tom Brady had 57 dropbacks against the Rams in the playoffs. Mike Evans āburnedā Jalen Ramsey on 1 play. Thatās only 1.75% of the time, but people forget the other 98.25% because of it

ZooeyModeratorBTW, Las Vegas has the over/under on Trey Lance TD throws at 21.5
I would think Vegas wouldn’t have that line if they hadn’t talked to people-in-the-know in San Francisco.
ZooeyModeratorIt will never get old.

ZooeyModeratorOn the 9ers and JimmyG. Again, the 9ers are screwed on this.
I won’t believe the “doubt” narrative on Lance until I see him flounder as the starter, or if the 9ers keep JG, and start him over Lance. I don’t believe the 9ers. This team had “unnamed sources” claiming the 9ers had received an offer of 2 first round picks for JG back in February. And I called BS on that at the time. That was bait for QB-needy teams to make a high offer. If anybody had offered that, he would have been traded already. The 9ers thought they could parlay him and reap a bounty. Didn’t happen.
I think the 9ers are trying to increase his trade potential now by feigning reluctance to move him.
In any event, JimmyG was emotionally “out of there” at the end of the season. He said “Goodbye” to all his teammates. He believes he is done there, and that is from a guy in the QB room with Lance all year long. This is not Joe Montana holding on in spite of sharing the QB room with Steve Young. JG has folded. He has packed his bags, and is waiting for the bus. It’s obviously possible they keep him, but Shanahan is going to have a hard time convincing him that he has confidence in him. The 9ers are a little bit broken right now.
They probably have Cleveland as their #1 mark, and we will see what happens when the Watson punishment gets doled out. If Watson gets a short suspension, or none at all, the Browns are out of the JimmyG market. If he gets 10+ games, then…maybe they will kick the tires on JG. But the 9ers are running out of potential trade destinations, and the clock is running down.
I think they are going to get very little or nothing for Garrapolo, or start the season with tension between QB and coaches. They’re screwed. Love to see it.

ZooeyModeratorIn 2021, the @RamsNFL ranked 21st in offensive spending and 20th in defensive spending, definitely sounds like they bought a championship pic.twitter.com/0ICoAcjGoX

ZooeyModeratorI think SF was the only team that really played them close. The other 2 games were close because of inexplicable flukes and injuries.
Interesting. Good points. Butā¦we canāt overlook the fact that you disagreed with me. As if there was never going to be consequences.
Well, when you go around saying on a Rams board that you think the Rams shouldn’t have won, you should expect some push back.

ZooeyModeratorYep. We iz dead.
ZooeyModeratorExcept for ARZ they were winning close games.
Yes, and what I noticed re-watching them is that the Rams had the upper hand in the Bucs and 9ers games, but mistakes made those games closer than they should have been. The Bucs game took a parade of errors (2 Cam fumbles, a Kupp fumble, and a missed snap, all recovered by TB) to get them back into it. In the SF game, the Rams were dominating the ball, drove the length of the field, and had a deflected pass INT in the end zone. That was tighter than the Bucs game (which was really a blowout).
The Super Bowl had the famous OPI that got CIN their only 2nd half play, and the Rams were without Woods, OBJ, Higbee, Mundt, and Blanton, and Akers was not 100%. They had Stafford and Kupp left.
I think SF was the only team that really played them close. The other 2 games were close because of inexplicable flukes and injuries.
ZooeyModeratorThe Rams signed Bobby Wagner and are *still* spending less at LB than every NFL team
Here's where the Rams rank in 2022 spending at each position compared to the rest of the league https://t.co/9LuaWhLYdl

ZooeyModeratorAnother update about OBJ and the @RamsNFL:
āBoth sides expect Odell to be back with the team before the season. He wants to wear #13 which is currently taken, but provided he signs a deal before the season, itās his number and Wolford is on-board with giving it up.ā

ZooeyModeratorThat 27th ranking is just what you would expect after extending so many stars. A bunch of teams will have to give extensions and FA signings over the next couple of years, and they will leapfrog where the Rams are right now. Besides, the Rams are in their window for championships. Their future is now and the next 3 years or so.
ZooeyModeratorI, once again, watched zero minutes of college basketball this year.
All I can say is that these 3 guys drafted first don’t look like they know how to shave.

ZooeyModeratorWe knew that as soon as it was confirmed as an ACL.

ZooeyModeratorTwo moments in #Rams history, 22 years apart that happened to look very much the same. Kupp and Bruce making that final cut & turning on the burners is cinematic excellence.
