As you know, our Rams are more than $14 Million over the cap. What moves would you do, to make sure we get under the cap? That means, whose contracts would you renegotiate, if any? Who would you release, if any? Who would you resign, if any? Who would trade, if any? Etc. Those are some examples.

Again, what would you do, as a whole to make sure to get under the cap?

    Renegotiate
    Leonard Floyd
    Cooper Kupp
    Jalen Ramsey
    Allen Robinson

    Resign
    Marquise Copeland(RFA)
    Greg Gaines(UFA)
    Matt Gay(UFA)
    Jake Gervase(ERFA)
    Michael Hoet(ERFA)
    Shaun Jolly(ERFA)
    Bryce Perkins(RFA)
    Christian Rosenboom(ERFA)

    Release
    Jordan Fuller
    Joseph Noteboom
    Robert Rochell
    Coleman Shelton

    Trade(if possible)
    Van Jefferson
    Bobby Wagner

    Sign
    Greedy Williams CB – 3 years, $9 M, $5 guaranteed
    – I’ll look toward signing the best LOT, that ends up as a cut casualty.

First thing i would do is Not have any key injuries.

2nd, I’d sign one of the 49ers coaches so McVay can figure out exactly why the 49ers own the Rams.

3rd, I’d accept the fact they probly cant be an ‘elite’ team next year, but they can be a ‘good’ team and make the playoffs.  Not enough cap space to make this a team that could compete with the Chiefs, etc.

I don’t know anything about the cap.

I think Gaines, Hoecht, and Gay are must re-signs. Love to keep A’Shawn, but that looks unlikely. Perkins will get the minimum, and nobody else is going to give him more, probably, so…fine.

No way would I release Fuller, Noteboom, Rochell, or Shelton. Fuller was very good when healthy, Noteboom is a solid G and still possible LOT, Rochell is still on his rookie deal (I believe), and Shelton graded higher than Allen (I believe).

The Rams wouldn’t get anything for Jefferson, so I see no point in trading him. Wagner was the highest rated ILB last year, so trading him makes no sense to me at all.

I agree on Fuller and Shelton. They keep both. I agree on Wagner. Noteboom I don’t know about. It may actually be that Jackson is better.

IMO, the Rams are lacking in elite athleticism overall. They’re kinda slow, with exceptions. They tend not to draft elite athletes when available, though they will occasionally trade for them, like a Ramsey. Under McVay, they seem to prefer less athletic, but more “mature” players, with other intangibles. Rochell is one of rare draft cases where elite athleticism was a major factor. I’m against cutting him, as I was against the cutting of Terrell Lewis, a freakish size/speed guy. Hollins was also pretty athletic,  as was Henderson. Against those cuts too.

I want them to keep Rochell, re-sign Nick Scott, try to keep A’Shawn, if possible. Re-sign Shelton, and attempt to trade Noteboom. If they can’t get a decent return, move him to guard and play Jackson at LT.

If they can get a good draft pick for Floyd — which is probably not likely — I’d trade him too. Draft two Edge guys, a run-stuffing DT, and at least two O-line guys. They have holes at TE and lack a true #2 wr. Hoping they luck out in FA for those positions. A-Rob should have a better season in 2023, but counting on that is probably a mistake.

The Rams should be able to compete for the playoffs, but without a lot of smart drafting and FA work, going further may not be in the cards.

    I hope Jackson is better.

Noteboom still played well at G.

This post is what can we do, to create cap space. Remember, we are $14 Million over the cap. You would like to get some more space as well, to sign rookies

Rams have one month to get under the cap. Two moves can get them there.

It doesn’t take an expert to understand the Los Angeles Rams aren’t in the best shape salary cap-wise. They’re currently $14.1 million over the salary cap, which has been set at $224.8 million for the 2023 season.

It’s not an issue that they’re over the limit right now because the new league year doesn’t start for another month. On March 15, however, they have to be under the cap, per league rules. They’re also not the only team with more than $224.8 million allocated to players at the moment. There are 13 other teams that are over the cap, too.

With one month until the deadline, the Rams need to make some moves to clear up some space. Whether that’s releasing players or restructuring their contracts, there are multiple avenues to freeing up money.

Two simple moves can get them under the cap before March 15, and it doesn’t require them to release anyone. First, they can restructure Cooper Kupp’s contract, thus creating $14.19 million in cap space. That almost gets them under the cap right there. The second move they can make is restructuring Bobby Wagner’s contract, which would save them another $7.75 million in 2023.

After those moves, the Rams would have $7.82 million in cap space, according to Over The Cap.

It would make sense for them to tweak those two contracts because it’s highly unlikely that the Rams want to move on from either player anytime soon.

If they restructure Aaron Donald’s deal, it’ll cause some pain in 2024 in the event that he retires. A restructure of Matthew Stafford’s contract would only save $251,250 in 2023, so his deal isn’t worth touching. Leonard Floyd could conceivably be a cap casualty, and there are rumors swirling about the possibility of dealing Jalen Ramsey.

Kupp should be on the team for at least the next two years, and the same goes for Wagner. It’s better to restructure the contract of a player who is expected to be on the roster in the coming years than one who could be cut in the near future.

I would not want to restructure Aaron Donald’s contract next year, due to he is probably going to be in his last season.  His dead money will be a real killer for cap.  Also, I believe that Matthew Stafford, and Head Coach, Sean McVay, retires after the 2023 season, as well as AD.

I’m not sure if I want to restructure Aaron Donald’s contract. I believe Matthew Stafford, Aaron Donald, and Head Coach Sean McVay will retire after this season, Donald’s cap number will be a killer, if we do it,

PFF lays out Jalen Ramsey-to-Dolphins trade that doesn’t include a 1st-rounder

I don’t like that trading Jalen Ramsey is even open to discussion.
