ZooeyModeratorBillionaires have been building little deep-ocean submarines that they carry on their yachts.
I would be surprised if those yachts don’t also have full-equipped “hospitals,” and hydroponic gardens. Just like their bunkers.
They are prepared for the collapse and the mayhem that follows, whatever the precipitating event happens to be.
ZooeyModeratorThe future is bleak but the resistance is coming from some blue state governors. Apparently the national democratic party establishment doesn’t control those guys.
I see only Gavin Newsom. And I see him mostly just defending the interests of the Democrat Party.
He has done some meaningful things, however. The alliance with Oregon and Washington to form the West Coast Health Alliance to protect people from Trump’s destruction of the CDC is important and valuable. He has also sued the feds (and won – at least for now) over its illegal use of the military as a police force. There are other examples.
He is not fighting the overall system, though. He’s still a shitlib. He backed off trans rights, and he intervened to kill a bill for universal health care within California that would have passed in the state government without his personal opposition to it. I think of him as an old school Democrat. Massively better than what we have now, but I dunno if he will ever take on Thiel and his psychopathic band of delusional sociopaths, or even do anything that alters our society’s trajectory.
ZooeyModerator2025 NFL Week 4 Buzz: 49ers Nick Bosa Needs Season-Ending SurgeryUpdated Sep. 22, 2025 2:49 p.m. ET
Who’s starting, who’s hurt, and who’s on the move?
NFL news is nonstop, and we’re breaking it all down week by week this season.
Here’s the latest on what’s happening around the league entering Week 4:
49ers Nick Bosa tears ACL
San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Nick Bosa tore his ACL on Sunday against the Cardinals, and, per ESPN, requires season-ending surgery to repair it.Bosa, a five-time Pro Bowler, had already racked up 17 combined tackles in three games with the Niners in 2025. While the report is that the tear is clean, it still requires surgery to repair.
The 27-year-old lineman injured his knee before the end of the first quarter, when a pair of Cardinals – Kelvin Beachum and Evan Brown – stopped Bosa adn knocked him to the ground. He fell with his knee at an awkward angle, and did not return to the game.
Cardinals RB Conner suffers ankle injury
Arizona Cardinals’ running back James Conner is reportedly out for the year with a season-ending ankle injury, per ESPN.Conner’s leg buckled underneath him as he was tackled on a short run and members of the Cardinals’ training staff immediately ran onto the field.
Several Arizona players came off the bench as both teams gathered around Conner as he was being treated. He was then taken off the field on a cart and was immediately ruled out for the rest of the game.
Coach Jonathan Gannon had no update on the extent of the injury following the loss, but his teammates were very concerned.
ZooeyModeratorPart of the reason for the Rams’ struggles was the pass protection, which was lacking throughout the contest. In fact, Pro Football Focus even gave Rams offensive linemen Justin Dedich (35 pass-blocking snaps) and Beaux Limmer (five pass-blocking snaps) their worst possible grade, a 0.0.
Not surprised. There is a notable dropoff after Avila and Dotson. Fortunately, neither of their injuries are serious long term. On paper, anyway.
The Rams probably win yesterday if both those guys were healthy.
ZooeyModeratorOne of my reactions to the Eagles game is to think about the fact that the Falcons lost again.
30 to Zero. To Carolina. O my.w
vAnd Penix got pulled for Cousins. Good sign.
ZooeyModeratorI’m more concerned about Stafford than the loss. He didn’t look right even before the hit, and while limping a bit after that hit, he also grabbed his lower back with both hands. But a few of his passes were wildly off before that play.
That was a game the Rams let get away from them. They had it. And then they salvaged it after they blew the lead, but Karty got blocked. Again. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that happen back-to-back in my life.
I didn’t love the officiating in this game. There were 5 or 6 calls (or non-calls) that I thought they missed, but I hate talking about officiating.
Oh well. Bring on the Colts.
ZooeyModeratorSigh. I basically agree with Russell Dobular here. (from ‘Due Dissedence’ part of the ‘dirtbag left’) I set it to play at the 1:07 mark where he makes a little speech. Such a dark view, but i share it, fwiw.
Yeah, I share that view, too. I don’t know why that view isn’t more widespread. There have been plenty of articles on this. The techno-feudalists say this stuff out loud. Their intentions are clearly documented from multiple sources, from multiple points in time. They even say it on camera. And, as was pointed out, they control everything already. At this point, I’m not sure what they’re waiting for. They see most of us as a threat to their survival, and their need for our labor, as he said, is diminished significantly. And the left is not organized, and never will be. It requires leadership, and leaders don’t survive. They capitulate, or they die. Not much of a choice.
Meanwhile, they have everybody at each other’s throats over a dozen trans athletes.
There is zero chance of avoiding the dystopia they have carefully prepared for, and I don’t know what they’re waiting for at this point. AI to develop a bit more? Some civil disturbances? Maybe they’re fine hiding behind the facade of democracy until that ultimately gives way. I dunno. But the future is bleak.
ZooeyModeratorBut in my mind, if we used time travel and had Nacua drafted in 2003 by the Cards, then I think he would have put up comparable numbers.
Just SAY you’re a Cardinals fan and you’re jealous that the Rams got Puka, and be done with it. You will sleep with an easier conscience. (I won’t say “easy” conscience, because I know you’ve got other stuff in there. Like the fact that you’re glad that the Cardinals eventually got Warner).
ZooeyModeratorI dunno. I watch Puka make play after play after play — and i cant quite figure out how he’s doing it. With a guy like Isaac Bruce, i am able to see the sheer obvious quick-twitch talent.
Like you say, Puka just seems like a little Tight End. Or a Deebo, of some sort.
I’m not saying Puka is ‘less valuable’ I’m just saying i cant quite categorize him.
w
vIt seemed to me against the oilers last week that Puka was more open than Adams was (generally). It seemed like – especially in the first half – that Adams had Creed inside his shirt most of the time. Puka always seemed a yard away from his guy.
And it’s a mystery. But imo I think Puka is faster than he looks. He doesn’t have catlike speed, but he’s… you know… he’s an Ostrich. You wouldn’t think it to look at them, but they can run 43 mph. Puka doesn’t have that sleek-looking agility. But he’s very fast, and he gets open, and he catches the damn ball, even if the judges don’t give him a 10. Or a 5. Or whatever judges give.
Okay. I’m done mixing metaphors. I’m going to go mix some paint, and tackle the bathroom like a sausage in a refinery fire.

Rams’ Center Coleman Shelton ranks 7th in run blocking grade (79.7) among all offensive linemen in the NFL (min 50% snaps played), according to @PFF. He also hasn’t allowed a sack in his last 221 pass blocking snaps, according to TruMedia. That’s great, but… honestly… I’ve NEVER allowed a sack. I’m not saying that to brag. It’s just a fact.
ZooeyModeratorLos Angeles Rams PR@TheLARamsPR
According to @PFF, the Rams are one of two teams in the NFL that have two EDGE defenders who rank in the top-10 in pass rush grade – Byron Young (90.1) and Jared Verse (80.2) (min 50% snaps played). That’s BS. Verse has zero sacks. Wasted draft pick, imo.
ZooeyModeratorJ.B. Long@JB_Long
Sacks since 2023 by players drafted since 2023, per NFL Research@RamsNFL – 55
TB – 27.5
PHI – 23That’s interesting. That’s not close.
But I bet the Rams have acquired more pass rushers since 2023, too.

ZooeyModeratorYou know, from a NATIONAL point of view, the Rams have nothing to lose this weekend. The Eagles are favored. Most of the pundits will pick the Eagles to win.
If the Rams lose, people will generally shrug, and move on. If the Rams win, it will change the conversation. Nationally. Among those experts who are really generalists and not experts at all.
Not that it matters. I don’t care what the national consensus is because it’s really not much better informed than the average football fan’s opinion.
I think it will be a good measuring stick for the Rams. It will show us how they measure up against a really good team. In Week 3. Beyond that, it won’t tell us much, except maybe in retrospect – if vulnerabilities are exposed.
In any event, Rams 23 Eagles 16.

McVay’s ability to run down the sideline after a Rams’ TD may be impeded against the Eagles.

ZooeyModeratorYes my hopes are modest too.
15-17 point win. That’s all.
Right. I don’t want the Rams to come off as rude guests.

ZooeyModeratorSo we’ll see what’s what with both teams.
Yeah, this is going to be a revealing game.
It’s obviously a tough environment to play in, and the Eagles are the Champs for good reason. They’re fearless, and they are physically dominant.
We’re going to see if the retooled defense specifically designed to slow down Saquon is going to work, but that is a tall order. The Eagles just wear people down. It’s going to be a tough game.
I just hope the Rams escape Philly injury-free, and with a comfortable victory by 15 points or more.
ZooeyModeratorInteresting comment from Nate Atkins in The Athletic:

ZooeyModeratorNever had a duo like Nacua and Adams?
I dunno. Kupp and OBJ were pretty good. Kupp and Robert Woods were pretty good.
w
vPretty sure Bruce and Holt surpass them as well.

ZooeyModeratorJoe Burrow toe surgery. Out for at least 3 months.
The Bengals’ OL has ranked in the bottom quartile his entire career.
ZooeyModeratorGG.
The Rams looked like they were on their way to a cakewalk in the first quarter, then Jeff Fisher gave his famous “They’re celebrating!” speech, and it took a turn for the worse. I thought the Rams were in for unnecessary fight when they just came out and took over all second half.
And, yeah, they could have tallied a 40-spot. It was kind of amusing watching McVay trip all over himself trying to avoid that. And the Titans tipped the old cap to that by running off ten seconds at the end.
Anyway… Byron Young came to play this year. And Landman. Jeeze. That guy is going to lead the team in jersey sales if he keeps this up. Reminds me of Kurt Rambis. Hard hat guy who just gets it done.
That throw by Ward for the only TD the Rams have given up all year…wow. I see that from my rookie QB, and I respond with gladness. That was something.
The Rams just overmatched them in the trenches, though. That DL is going to matter in a lot of games. I hope they all stay healthy.
Looked like Stafford was forcing it to Adams in the first half. Maybe Adams drew the tougher CB; I dunno. But that wasn’t working. Glad to see it work in the 2nd half.
Blake Corum sighting! Who didn’t love seeing him reel off a few roundhouses? Good to see.
I assume Ferguson is not yet “there” on blocking because he seems to be alright in every other aspect of the game. If he surpasses Allen eventually, though, that will be alright with me.
I somehow missed the Witherspoon injury. Must’ve been one of those moments when I was distracted because I watched the entire game. Clavicle sounds like a couple of months, at least. That’s no bueno.
So far, no gaping holes in the Rams’ game. They looked good in both games so far. I’d like to see more from Williams, but everything else looks pretty good. The LB play has certainly stepped up, so I would like to make a Motion that we keep playing out the rest of the season.

ZooeyModeratorThat TV map sucks for the 2nd week in a row.
I guess the 49ers don’t want the Rams game to be televised at the same time (as their SF @ NO game)in the SF bay area.
Thus, we get the low game on the totem pole from CBS….. Carolina at Arizona….in the afternoon… that’s fucking ridiculous…
I’m 100 miles east of the Bay Area, and they are giving us the Rams game, even though this is ostensibly 49er territory.
I don’t get it. CAR vs AZ will not draw as many viewers as the Rams would. I think it’s safe to say that there are more Rams fans in your area than CAR and AZ put together. To say nothing of the fact that the Rams are a hated rival of SF, and would draw more interest on that account alone, never mind the fan base of the Rams.

ZooeyModeratorThat video up there listing Stafford’s 20 longest passes didnt show his biggest pass as a Ram.
Anyone remember his biggest-most-importantist pass ?
w
vWell, the one I was looking for, and didn’t see, was the big bomb to Kupp in the divisional playoff game after they gagged up the insurmountable lead over the Bucs.

ZooeyModeratorDunno if you saw the game-winning touch-down pass by Purdy but i think it was the most pathetic game winning TD pass i have ever seen in my life. Should have been picked. He should have had three INTs in that game including the game-losing-pass.
I did not. I didn’t see anything apart from the Rams game. I will go find that later today.

ZooeyModeratorThe 49ers will be without TE George Kittle for multiple weeks due to a hamstring injury.
He has been place on IR which means he can’t return any earlier than Week 6, after the Rams play them.
The 49ers also released their kicker, much to the applause from their fans. They are currently asking “What took so long?”
In spite of the Expert rankings and predictions for the 49ers, their fan base is very much “wait-and-see.” They are not buying into the hype, seems to me.
ZooeyModeratorAhkello Witherspoon locked down Nico Collins, only allowing one catch for 4 yards on two targets. He only gave up two catches for 5 yards in the entire game, showing he’s the Rams’ CB1 on the outside. Emmanuel Forbes Jr. played well, too, giving up just one catch for 1 yard.
2 catches for 5 yards?
That’s what the starting corners gave up?
Holy shit.
