the rams have won 6 of their first 8 games just 11 times in their 88 year history, and each time they did they made the postseason, including reaching the title game 4 times and winning it twice, as was the in 1999:

I believe the lack of action at TE is a combination of McVay’s playcalling and Stafford’s choices in-game.In just the last 3 week alone, TEs have been open on intermediate passes but Stafford has elected for a different choice in his progressions.
Nate Atkins@NateAtkins_
Different choice = earlier choice in the progression a lot of times. I think they aren’t designing plays as much for them because they’re doing that for much better players and it’d be quite a bit different if their TEs were better than their WRs.They’d scheme this offense much differently if the TEs were a lot better than the WRs but the reverse is true.

Puka Nacua looked sharp in the limited time we were out there to watch, with no present issues making cuts on the ankle he hurt a couple weeks ago. He’ll be listed as limited today, but he was pretty full-go in individuals.

On the year [Stafford’s] QB rating is 109.4 when he has 2.5 or more seconds to throw and 109.2 when he has less…..so I’m pretty sure, #9 says “bring it”.

znModeratorOn May 4, 1982, a month after forces from Argentina invaded the British overseas dominion of the Falkland Islands and two days after a British task force traversed nearly 8,000 miles to join the fight, an Argentine Exocet missile slammed into the destroyer as it patrolled off Port Stanley in the South Atlantic.
According to the warship’s board of inquiry report released in 2012, “the missile’s impact left a 15 feet by 4 feet hole in the ship’s side and caused widespread minor shock damage.” Fire spread almost immediately throughout the lower decks of the ship.
“My boots were actually melting because the superstructure was getting that hot,” John Miller, a Royal Navy weapons engineer, recalled in an interview with the York Press. “We couldn’t put the fire out. All we could do was close the steel bulkheads down and contain it.”
Of the 300 sailors that manned the 4,100-tonne destroyer, 20 were killed and 26 wounded.
“After some 4 hours firefighting the situation was deteriorating,” the report continued. “Internally the ship was burning fiercely. … Sheffield’s fighting capability was totally and probably irremediably destroyed.”
It was then, while watching their ship burn, that Sub-Lieutenant Clive Carrington-Wood struck up a tune, bringing the sardonic British sense of humor into full display as he and his fellow sailors sang “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” — a classic from Monty Python’s “Life of Brian.”
The news of Carrington-Wood’s cheekiness reached the British press and injected some pride back into the British spirit in the aftermath of the attack.
Three weeks later, as the HMS Coventry sank after coming under waves of attacks from Argentine Douglas A-4 Skyhawks, the survivors took a leaf out of Carrington-Wood’s book and hummed, sang and whistled the track as they sat precariously perched in life rafts.
A little more than a month later, British forces prevailed to force Argentina’s surrender, giving new meaning to the notion that “when you’re chewing on life’s gristle, don’t grumble, give a whistle, and this’ll help things turn out for the best.”

With Atwell out over the next month, Rams do need someone who can stretch the field.…but we also know that only being a “burner” won’t work. Have to be able to do everything in the offense.

Jared Verse has recorded 5+ pressures in each of his last 5 games, which is currently the second-longest active streak in the NFL behind Lions’ Aiden Hutchinson (6 games). He also has a tackle for loss in 5 consecutive games and a forced fumble in 3 of his last 5 games.
znModeratorIf Massey had agreed to wear a glove when he started getting hand issues, I would have argued against trading him to the Giants.
Still, other than that, he was worth the expensive trade up they did to move up and get him in that draft.
I will never forget the coach’s immortal words from that year: “We will stand behind Chris Massey, and snap long hikes to kickers.”

Quarterback
First team (1): Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs
Second team (1): Matthew Stafford, RamsMahomes is the betting favorite on every book in America, and rightfully so. After watching Kansas City morph into a defense-first team the past two seasons, Mahomes and his offense are back. The two-time MVP has thrown for 2,099 yards and accounted for 21 touchdowns with four interceptions.
Meanwhile, Stafford entered his Week 8 bye with 1,866 passing yards and 17 touchdowns. The Rams have one of the league’s most explosive pass-catching duos, with Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, and Stafford has taken full advantage.
Wide receivers
First team (3): Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seahawks; Puka Nacua, Rams; Ja’Marr Chase, Bengals
Second team (3): Justin Jefferson, Vikings; George Pickens, Cowboys; Amon-Ra St. Brown, LionsSmith-Njigba is an easy choice. He leads the NFL by a wide margin with 819 receiving yards despite Seattle being on a bye in Week 7. Nacua is also an obvious call with 616 yards and two scores despite missing two weeks. Chase is coming off a Triple Crown campaign and ranks first in receptions (70), second in yardage (720) and eighth in receiving touchdowns (five).
Edge rushers
First team (2): Myles Garrett, Browns; Brian Burns, Giants
Second team (2): Nik Bonitto, Broncos; Byron Young, RamsGarrett has been utterly phenomenal despite the Browns being 2–6. He leads the league with 10 sacks, including five in a 32–13 Week 8 loss to the Patriots. Burns has also been tremendous, tied with Garrett’s 10 sacks while also posting 13 quarterback hits.
Bonitto might be the most underrated player in the game, leading a wicked Denver pass rush. The Broncos are pacing to shatter the 1984 Bears mark of 72 sacks, and Bonitto has eight and 17 quarterback hits. Finally, Young has nine sacks in seven games, creating havoc on a Rams front headlined by Jared Verse, the reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year

Will 12/13 personnel remain prevalent?
As Adam Grosbard of Southern California News Group noted, McVay’s postgame answer about the tight ends’ usage against the Jaguars struck a different tone compared to the previous six weeks, when that was primarily matchup-driven. And with how much success the Rams were having primarily operating the passing game through Nacua and wide receiver Davante Adams, it made sense that not a lot needed to be asked of the tight ends during that span.
Of course, matchups and available personnel played a part in that decision versus Jacksonville. The absence of Jaguars linebacker Devin Lloyd and Nacua, whose role often asks him to do many of the same things that are asked of tight ends in this offense, along with all four of Los Angeles’ tight ends being healthy, can’t be ignored. But McVay indicated this could be something that is here to stay for the rest of the season.
“I think you just mentioned it,” McVay said after the Rams’ Week 7 win over the Jaguars. “When we’ve got four legitimate NFL tight ends and you got them all up and active, let’s take advantage of that. Let’s be able to do some different things where we’re not just in 11 personnel all the time. We have got guys that are functional, on the line of scrimmage, they can make plays in the pass game, so I think we’re just continuing to learn. As the season goes, you might have an idea of what you think you’re going to be but it’s about utilizing all the personnel that you do have, and I think this is an exciting thing for us to be able to build on. We’ll have some time to be able to look at it. Obviously, it’s always predicated on the opponent, but it always starts with us and I want to make sure that I do a better job and then really us collectively of taking advantage of the depth that we have at some of these different positions, so they can make you a little more difficult to defend.”

znModeratorfrom Stu Jackson: https://www.therams.com/news/rams-trade-for-cb-roger-mccreary-titans-2025-nfl-trade-deadline
In a corresponding move to make room for McCreary on their 53-man roster, the Rams placed wide receiver Tutu Atwell on Injured Reserve.
Head coach Sean McVay on Monday said the move was influenced in part by the Rams being banged up at cornerback. Los Angeles has already been without Ahkello Witherspoon (broken clavicle) for the last six weeks, and Darious Williams came out of Week 7 against the Jaguars with a shoulder injury, though McVay left the door open for him to potentially play this week against the Saints.
“We were looking to be able to just add some depth,” McVay said. “He’s a guy that (we) respect from playing against him earlier this year, has some inside-outside flex. Actually, (assistant head coach/pass game coordinator) Aubrey (Pleasant) coached him in the Senior Bowl when he was coming out of Auburn, and so we’re excited to get him in. … Just talked to him, he’ll get packed and we’ll get him out here, and then we’ll see what it looks like to be able to get him going for this week. But excited to be able to add him, respect his game from going against them. I’ve heard great things about the human being from people that have been around him. Aubrey enjoyed coaching him at the Senior Bowl, and he’ll be able to add some depth to our group, and we’re excited about it.”
McCreary, 25, has 33 total tackles, two passes defensed and one interception in eight games (three starts) with the Titans this season. In Week 2 against the Rams, he had seven total tackles and one pass defensed, and his overall performance left a positive impression on McVay and the coaching staff.
“I think just the competitiveness,” McVay said. “I think what (Titans defensive coordinator) Dennard (Wilson) asks of that slot position and that system in general, activated as a blitzer inside on some of the run fits, the lateral movement and the short-space quickness to be able to guard guys on a two-way go. They’ll play some vision zone, and they play some matchup stuff where he’s in man or he’s sticky, based on some of the principles that they play, and all of that you could see could do at a high level. But I just respected and I liked the competitor. I saw a competitive player on tape, played big at the point of attack, would get his face dirty if he was involved in the run fit, they could blitz him internally, externally.”
