znModeratorSo far on the day…Arizona lost, Seattle won.
Tampa and SF in a dogfight.
znModeratorI thought Landman had a solid game.
He now leads all Rams in the team’s whole history for tackles in a game, with 17.

znModerator5 Observations From Rams Win Against Ravens
The Los Angeles Rams made a statement in their fourth win of the 2025 NFL seasonBrock Vierra
https://www.si.com/nfl/rams/los-angeles-sean-mcvay-matthew-stafford-ravens-kyren-williams
The Los Angeles Rams defeated the Baltimore Ravens in week six action. Here are five observations from the game.
1. Matthew Stafford is playing at an MVP level
Not every game is going to be a beauty but Stafford made critical throws when needed and once again guided the Rams towards victory. Solid day for Stafford.
2. It’s time to ask questions on Sean McVay’s in-game decisions
The Rams were able to manage situations well throughout the game but despite their functional play, there were a few questionable decisions but no decision was more controversial than Sean McVay’s decision to go for it on fourth and three up 14 points on the Ravens’ six yard line.
The Ravens were done and dusted. They were defeated and all McVay needed was to take three and make the contest a three possession game with under 14 minutes of game time left. Instead, McVay went for it, Stafford got sacked, and the Ravens nearly turned the momentum into six before the defense halted the Ravens’ offense once they entered the red zone.
3. Nate Landman and Quentin Lake need extensions immediately
Landman set the franchise record for tackles in a single game, including another punch out of the football and Lake not only recovered the fumble, he also recorded an interception, helping keep Zay Flowers at bay.
Both men are on one year deals and it is time to open negotiations towards extensions. They’re captains, leaders, and playmakers. They’re pillars of the defense and no executive ever lost their job paying pillars.
4. It’s time for tough questions on the Special Teams Unit
Joshua Karty had two field goal attempts on Sunday, shanking one and barely hitting the other despite both kicks being within 37 yards. McVay stated he thought the protection was good. On top of Karty’s issues, poor execution by Shaun Dolac negated a fumble recovery on a punt, plus other issues.
5. Kyren Williams proved he’s a legitimate pass catcher
Since training camp, Kyren Williams has been nearly begging to be used more in the pass game and when I asked McVay about increasing his involvment, he stated that’s something the Rams have continued to look into.
Over the past two games, Williams’ usage in the pass game has cracked the code in the Rams’ red zone operation.

Rams Defense Answer Five Important Questions in Win Against Ravens
The Los Angeles Rams defense showed up in a big way on SundayBrock Vierra
https://www.si.com/nfl/rams/los-angeles-byron-young-quentin-lake-ravens
Before the Los Angeles Rams took on the Baltimore Ravens in midseason action, I posed five questions the defense must answer. Here’s their response.
1. What happened last week and is it fixable?
It is. The Rams needed one drive to feel the Ravens out and after their opener, they would threaten to score again but every time Baltimore entered the red zone, they walked away without a touchdown, including the Rams’ stopping the Ravens three times on their own one yard line to take a tie into halftime.
2. Can the Rams stop Zay Flowers?
Yes and his name is Quentin Lake. In fact, what the Rams did against Flowers was the main reason why they won. Lake secured an interception while guarding Flowers, the Rams forced out the football from Flowers that Lake recovered, and Flowers would end up fumbling a jet sweep untouched.
Three turnovers that he was involved in and for the two that Flowers was responsible for, the Rams turned into a touchdown and another red zone trip.
3. Will Byron Young etch his name into Rams history?
He did. Two sacks on the Ravens final drive of the game saw Young become the owner of most consecutive games recording at least half a sack in franchise history, a record dating back to last season.
On top of that, Nate Landman set the record for most tackles in a game for the franchise.
4. Should the Rams re-sign Quentin Lake?
Yes. There’s no question about it. Lake was massive again today for the Rams and when we start getting into what the future of the Rams’ defense looks like, Lake could easily walk away from the Rams as he will be a sought after player.
Lake is Los Angeles through and through. A LA native who played his prep ball in Southern California and his collegiate ball at UCLA, he’s everything that makes a Ram a Ram and thus, it’s time for a new deal.
5. Is it time to make a move in the secondary?
Not yet. The Rams secondary did enough to set up next week. If the Rams make a move, it will be based off what they do against a true NFL starting quarterback and a legitimate passing offense.

FINAL:Rams 17
Ravens 3L.A. improves to 4-2 with a much-needed win over a hampered Ravens team. Their own injuries made it a slog, as did some offensive and special teams miscues.
But the mix of Jared Verse, Byron Young and Quentin Lake is going to punish offenses like this.

Rams win 17-3 in Baltimore. It wasn’t a pretty game, but the defense got the job done, forcing critical turnovers. The Rams advance to 4-2 ahead of an international matchup with the Jaguars next week.

QB Matthew Stafford just passed Dan Marino (61,361) and moved to 9th all-time in passing yards.Wyatt Miller@wymill07
On 4th and 3, Matthew Stafford has all day to throw and finds Kyren Williams inside the 5 for 30 yards. On the next play, Williams walks into the end zone for a touchdown.roberto clemente@rclemente2121
holding any offense, injury riddled or not, to 3 points on the road is a helluva day for a defense.today is the 151st game mcvay has head coached for the rams, and only the 4th time his rams have held an opponent to 3 points or less.

OLB Jared Verse just recorded the third forced fumble of the season and the fifth of his career. His three forced fumbles in 2025 are currently T-2nd in the NFL.***
Lake finished with six tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery, as he had his fingerprints all over this game.

It’s an ankle injury for Puka Nacua, not a foot. Sean McVay isn’t sure yet if he’ll be able to play next week in London. He pushed through pain to give a few snaps late today.October 12, 2025 at 4:26 pm in reply to: Ravens game: tweets, plays, highlights, articles etc. #158607

Landman set the franchise record for the most tackles in a single game in franchise history (17). Since 1994, only four other Rams have recorded 16 tackles in a single game: James Laurinaitis (2009 vs. Cardinals), Alec Ogletree (2015 vs. Commanders), Mark Barron (2015 vs. Browns), and Keith Lyle (1995 vs. Saints).October 12, 2025 at 4:22 pm in reply to: Ravens game: tweets, plays, highlights, articles etc. #158606

Fun lyrics from Chuck Berry. Plus the movie clip where you heard the song.
You Never Can Tell
Song by Chuck Berry (1964)It was a teenage wedding and the old folks wished them well
You could see that Pierre did truly love the mademoiselle
And now the young monsieur and madame have rung the chapel bell
“C’est la vie”, say the old folks, “it goes to show you never can tell”They furnished off an apartment with a two-room Roebuck sale
The coolerator was crammed with TV dinners and ginger ale
But when Pierre found work, the little money comin’ worked out well
“C’est la vie”, say the old folks, “it goes to show you never can tell”They had a hi-fi phono, boy, did they let it blast
700 little records, all rock, rhythm and jazz
But when the sun went down, the rapid tempo of the music fell
“C’est la vie”, say the old folks, “it goes to show you never can tell”They bought a souped-up jitney, was a cherry red ’53
And drove it down to Orleans to celebrate their anniversary
It was there where Pierre was wedded to the lovely mademoiselle
“C’est la vie”, say the old folks, “it goes to show you never can tell”They had a teenage wedding and the old folks wished them well
You could see that Pierre did truly love the mademoiselle
And now the young monsieur and madame have rung the chapel bell
“C’est la vie”, say the old folks, “it goes to show you never can tell”

Matthew Stafford has recorded back-to-back games with 370+ passing yards and 3 TDs. If he records another such game against Baltimore, he will become the only QB in NFL history to have two separate career streaks of 3 games with 370+ PsYds and 3 PsTDs (also did it with the Lions from Week 15 – Week 17 in 2011). He would also be the only QB in NFL history to do it with two different teams and would join Patrick Mahomes, Ryan FitzPatrick, Drew Brees, and Tom Brady as the only QBs to do it 3 straight games.

Ravens QB Lamar Jackson has been officially ruled out for Week 6.
znModeratorLos Angeles is far from alone when it comes to blocked kicks. Through the first four weeks of the season, the NFL saw 16 total blocked field goals, punts or extra points. It’s the second-highest mark through four weeks since at least 1991.
One theory has been that a new approach to kickoffs, with a knuckleball style to take advantage of the extra 5 yards of room to force a return, has led to kickers approaching field goals differently. It’s an easy line to draw to Karty, who has mastered the technique perhaps as much as anyone. And in the loss to the Eagles, he saw the highs of watching nearly every kickoff bounce off and around Philadelphia’s return men before the lows of having two kicks blocked.
But he said the new kickoff approach is not an explanation.
“That thought has not crossed my mind,” Karty said.
Nor, either, has the pressure that the field goal block units are putting on him.
“There’s nothing I should be doing to compensate for anything,” Karty said. “I should just be going out and trying to hit my ball.”
Opponents are hunting for these moments as much as ever, finding a decided advantage on the inside of the line. They aren’t allowed to push on the back of the long snapper to gain a lane, something the Denver Broncos learned painfully in a Week 2 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, when they went from victory to defeat thanks to a 15-yard penalty and a re-kick that Spencer Shrader made to win the game for Indianapolis.
To avoid the penalty and still take advantage, teams are piling their biggest and most powerful defenders around the edges of the long snapper and using the crevices around a mostly stationary player to get into position for the block. That’s what the Eagles did with two first-round defensive tackles in Davis and Jalen Carter, who traded off on blocks to beat the Rams. On the final one that Davis returned, the two teamed up to push their 650 combined pounds over Rams right tackle Rob Havenstein and through backup guard Beaux Limmer.
And perhaps therein lies some of the problem for the Rams: Their line has been hit with injuries and lineup inconsistency, and all four blocks have come from interior pressure. Havenstein has battled an ankle issue this season that led him to miss last week’s loss to the 49ers. Right guard Kevin Dotson battled cramps against the Eagles and was out for the second block.
Left guard Steve Avila has missed the past three games on offense with an ankle injury. The Rams didn’t want to risk it on turf and a short week last Thursday, but they did play him for five special teams snaps. And he was the one who gave up the pressure that led to last week’s block, this time coming from the right side.
znModeratorStu Jackson@StuJRams
Sean McVay said Steve Avila has done a good job in practice this week and practiced and played the way he’s capable of, indicating Avila will step back in at LG this Sunday at Ravens.“Expect Steve to be ready to roll and do his thing on Sunday.”
znModeratorMatthew Stafford was asked on Wednesday what Nacua’s “superpower” is and he pointed to Puka’s versatility.
“Trying to put one on it. I think if I can’t, then it’s got to be versatility, right?” he said. “If it’s like, ‘Hey, if I can’t say he’s 6-foot-5, 250 pounds and runs 4.3 like Calvin [Johnson] did, I think it’s just his versatility, right? If you’re a defense and you’re going up against him – and really, not unlike a lot of guys on our team – but you’ve got to defend all the blades of grass. Are we going to hand it to him? Are we going to throw it to him? Is he going to lead block for us in a run play or is he going to slip out into the flat, catch it and run for another 15? I think it’s his versatility, his ability to affect the game in a number of different ways and help our team.”
