Bills issued this update on Damar Hamlin

The Buffalo Bills issued the following statement at 1:48 am on Damar Hamlin’s condition.

“Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in the Buffalo Bills’ game versus the Cincinnati Bengals. His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for further testing and treatment. He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition.”

Hamlin’s injury took place at the 5:58 mark of the first quarter. The game was postponed by the NFL after Hamlin received medical attention on the field.

The team and all of the sports world continue to pray for his recovery. Get well soon Damar!

The Rams close their season at Seattle. ILB Ernest Jones said as bad as they wanted the last matchup for Bobby Wagner, they want this as much or more. “It’d mean everything for me. … For me, I definitely want to get him this win. I definitely want him to get the last say-so.”

with Akers one of the biggest difference is the volume or runs. pitches like this one. tosses, traps, inside runs. Not just the outside zone hendo ran well or that McVay just used to run over and over and over with Gurley.
it’s the variation of different runs added by McVay. He didn’t do it until he lost all WRs and couldn’t stay in 3 WRs but he should have changed long ago given the lack of quality 3WRs beside Kupp. Look closer at McVay dude yards in the second half today

    Cameron DaSilva@camdasilva
Baker Mayfield went 3-for-7 for 35 yards in the second half
    .
Cam Akers and Van Jefferson were really the only two Rams players with solid grades from PFF this week, which feels about right

I’d like to know the full behind the scenes story behind trying to trade Cam Akers but then pivoting to the RB coach leaving and Darrell Henderson getting cut.

The #49ers’ 10-point comeback in the second half today was the second time in Kyle Shanahan’s tenure they’ve overcome a double-digit second-half deficit.

They’re now 2-33 in such situations.

Aboushi, Brewer, Edwards, Nsekhe & Skura are unrestricted free agents after this season, Anchrum & Shelton are unrestricted free agents in 2024. It’s good to get someone, in the draft, for the future.

That gives them probably Brewer (who I think they keep) and possibly Nsekhe, plus Anchrum (who still gets very high buzz), Shelton, Arcuri, Jackson, Thomas, and Bruss. There’s a player or 2 in that mix. Notice that list includes 5 or 6 with gametime experience. They will add possibly a free agent, some “ronin” (or young cuts and/or bargain FAs), a draft choice or 2, and UDFAs. I suspect it’s time to give up on Noteboom and Allen.

Edwards might be back but I doubt it. There’s nothing lacking in him, it’s just that he has a bad concussion history.

Rams allowed both a pass explosive and a run explosive on the LAC scoring drive. Entered the game allowing the least amount of either in the NFL.

Cam Akers with his second straight 100 yard game. He becomes the first Rams RB since CJ Anderson in 2018 with back-to-back 100 yard game

The Rams’ defensive front on this drive includes Keir Thomas, Larrell Murchison, Marquise Copeland & Earnest Brown IV. You know, just like we all expected in Week 17 of their title defense season. In possibly related news, the Chargers are averaging 11.1 yards per play.

we go for a guy that can play play either Guard or Center, like a Ricky Stromberg, or Steve Avila.

Jack they already have more than enough guys who can play guard and center. That’s the compensating upside of playing so many guys as injury replacements. They played 8 guys at OG and 3 at OC this year. When that group recovers they can sort out which ones can play.

an NFL exec told me a year ago — there’s more gifted pass catchers than ever before, and just not enough guys to cover em. Give coaches a month to scheme and it can become a track meet.

I wish we had easy-to-understand sites where you can see how the injuries compared from year to year. Has this been one of the worst injury-years in the last twenty years? Seems that way, but i dont trust my memory. I mean, Donald, Kupp, Stafford — just those three is season-blowing. w v

Rams have had some bad injury years since we’ve been online as a cohort. 2007, 2011 were among the worst. Once in 2011 they lost so many defensive backs they were starting corners they got off the street. That year, in an arranged online board chat with Demoff I asked if after a while the injuries started to get funny in a dark way because they just kept coming. He said yes, actually.

But 2022 puts them all in its rear-view mirror. There’s the players you name plus 3 of their top 4 WRs plus they’ve played 5 LOTs and 8 OGs and 3 OCs. The OL that was in the game against against Denver started 3 guys who were not even on the roster in week 1, they were in-season pick ups.

Leonard Floyd has a stomach bug and will be questionable for Sunday. Tyler Higbee had a rest day earlier this week, and then had his elbow checked out. Sean McVay said MRI came back favorably. He’s questionable but McVay believes he’ll play.
    .
    Stu Jackson@StuJRams
McVay also said DT Greg Gaines, who popped up on the injury report yesterday with a shoulder injury, will practice today and should be good to go for Sunday’s game. Gaines’ DNP Thursday was Rams “being smart with him” per McVay.

he’s a stopgap. i don’t understand why anyone would think he’s a long term solution.

But he has not proved to be an unselfish, good, Leader, over time. And if you listen close to his interviews, you can see the hints of selfishness. He said something about ‘showcasing his talent’ recently. Thats not something i want my QB to think about. Its not a team-first mentality.

There is reason to be wary. He’s more talented than most QBs, but he’s not proven he can do the homework, or lead a team. I think it was zn who compared him to Jeff George. Too selfish, and too reliant on raw talent and bravado.

Yeah I agree with all that plus when he’s interviewed you can just see the entitled boy syndrome under the surface, even though he’s making an effort to come across well.
