If you only take the Rams’ healthy wide receivers, Brandon Powell leads the group with 22 receptions this season That’s…wild

DL Larrell Murchison, who had 2.5 sacks in his first game with the Rams, surprised and delighted teammates when he celebrated after a sack. “Well, the dance definitely sticks out,” said Bobby Wagner, grinning. “When you come into a team (like that), he’s quiet, doesn’t really

say much. Just kind of meeting with coaches, trying to get sped up on the defense. Then he goes out and gets a sack and starts dancing, starts talking to us – like, where did this come from?! But he’s put a lot of work (in) to try to understand the scheme, understand the nuances

of the defense, and I think that it was really fun just watching him have fun out there, let loose, not worry about always being right and making plays. … Everybody was feeding off that energy, because he probably said about four words before that.”

Derek Carr’s benching suggests the Raiders will free up $29.25M of 2023 salary cap space by parting ways with him. If a trade can’t be agreed upon before the 3rd day of 2023 waiver period (2/15) when Carr’s $32.9M 2023 base salary & $7.5M of 2024 are fully GTD, he’ll be released.

This doesn’t necessarily mean the end for Carr. If Carr gets hurt in the final 2 games, his contract is guaranteed next year. This gives the Raiders options next season but not a great look as it signals that they are unsure of him.

So were the Cam Akers issues mainly down to the RB coaching? He has had a resurgence since Thomas Brown took over coaching RBs again and the previous RB coach left.

Maybe but the last 3 games the Oline has gelled because with the exception of Allen it’s been the same guys 3 of them are vets. Also Baker is a fast qb as far as release and reading the D

Chargers are 9-6. They’re 21st in defensive points allowed, 19th in defensive yards, 26th in yards rushing allowed, 13th in offensive points, 11th in offensive yards, 31st in rushing yards and rushing yards per attempt. They’re also 20th in sacks allowed per game.

Chargers beat the Broncos in overtime by 3 points, 19-16.

Denver has been awful on offense. But on defense, they are 7th in points and 5th in yards.

If your nickel is soft as toilet paper and can’t play the run, you die. If your nickel is slow and can’t carry a vertical, you die. If your nickel can’t at least survive a two way go in man from time to time, you die. It’s the most important spot in a modern secondary imo.

So the OL is still Nsekhe Skura Shelton Aboushi Havenstein. It’s that elusive thing called “continuity,” which is something I’ve heard about before (it seems that other teams have it, whatever it is).

They did fine though that was helped by running a very quick, classic WCO style methodical short passing game out of 2 TE sets (and taking advantage of Mayfield’s very quick release).

I don’t like Skura but other than him, that could be the basis of their 2023 line if they keep Nsekhe and Aboushi. They have a long list of possible candidates at guard to replace Skura (once they’ve all recovered by the summer).

.@SandoNFL has been saying for years that Russ wanting to cook was never in Russell Wilson’s best interest, and that the vision Pete Carroll had for him was actually much closer to the optimal way to get the best version of Wilson.

Heading into ‘20 it looked like RW was ready to handle more … but yes, a common theme has been that even at his best he was a different type of Tier 1 QB because of his height. It’s still strange to see this type of fall but also true that Carroll was criticized unfairly.

Last April, I pinned Cobie Durant as a draft day fit for the Rams due to his smaller size, speed, and college ball production.

Cobie Durant leads the NFL in interception return yards (151) this season despite only playing on defense in 5 games
    .
According to PFF, Durant had the highest overall grade of ANY defender in the NFL this week (94.7)
