    Take a listen to this interview with JV. I started it at about the four minute mark. Jessie talked about having a heart problem and having to give up wrastling for about six months. Vince McMahon approached him and asked him to announce.

    Now pay attention to when Jessie sez, “If you believe it, its true.”

    And then think about Trump and his very close, very real connection with the WWE. It was part of his training ground, a lot of us think. Think about how Trump just brazenly makes up his own reality. Think about where that came from.

    …oh and remember Jessie went on to play the political game, too. Governor of Minnesota.

    would take Goff’s throw anytime in that situation. It wasn’t center of the target, but it gave the WR a chance to make a play. I expected Kupp to make the catch, but I am not as positive that he should have made the catch as some. I say 7 or 8 out of 10 times he catches it. I think if he would have had his thumbs together, he would have had a better chance to make the catch.

    Its pretty obvious God wanted Seattle to win that game.

    The question is why?

    “…The ideology that put Donald Trump in the White House is one of victimhood as much as it’s one of resentment. As a candidate for president, Donald Trump did more than attack presumed outsiders like Muslims and Hispanic immigrants; he also quenched a thirst for a large group of Americans indignant about what they have suffered at the hands of others. But these supporters weren’t victims of any real oppression or exclusion—they saw themselves as victims of political correctness, living in a world where a liberal media suppressed truth in the name of supposed fairness….”
    =============

    Well, but is that really true of all the factions that voted for Trump?

    I’d say the working class folks whose jobs were neolibbed out of existence,
    were indeed ‘excluded’ and ‘oppressed’ by the country-club folks and Neolib/Neocon policy makers.

    I dunno. I am not sure what i think about it. One the one hand, the rule makes it very dangerous for the ball-carrier to carry the ball recklessly down by the goal-line. Maybe it adds a little excitement.

    Its an odd rule, but i dunno that its a bad one.

    I’d like to see a new rule, whereby, endzone celebrations count as lost fumbles.

    w
    v

    What is the point of the rule? What does it accomplish? Honest question.

    ===============

    I think it rewards awesome defensive plays like the one Earl Thomas made, and it punishes loose ballhandling at the goal-line.

    It kinda gives the defense a desperate shot at turning things around.

    Looks like the Seahawks D is well-schooled on the rule, too.

    Like i said, its an ‘odd’ rule, but I am conflicted about whether its a ‘bad’ rule.

    Spoiler alert

    I saw it. I thought it was awful.

    Typical blockbuster. Big on slick. Small on character development.

    And the climax reminded me of a 60’s Batman tv-show climax. I mean, seriously, the water rising, while the two characters are battling… (eyeroll)

    None of the characters were interesting, none of the plot was interesting.

    About the only thing that was watchable for me was the old whiskey-drinking dog.

    And i liked the original a lot.

    Yeah, lets hope these young players learn.

    There’s a time to reach,

    I’d say the time to secure the ball is anytime Earl Thomas

    One other “singular” play. Whitworth. Hadn’t allowed but one pressure all year, and he gets beaten with Goff getting blown up for a fumble.

    Still. I like the way WV put it: the Rams are a team on the rise, and Seattle is on the decline.

    ===========

    I think of the classic short story (cant think of the author) about the old grizzled boxer and the up-and-coming talented young boxer.

    Course in the story the kid won 🙁

    I noticed the Rams had way more total yards than the hawks.

    btw, i have winced at other times when Gurley has stretched out and reached for the goal-line. I wince when ANY player does that in the NFL. I’ve seen too many of those reach-outs turn into turnovers. Earl Thomas is a pro-bowler. The guy makes those kinds of plays all the time. Lesson learned, one would hope.

    WV,

    Just watched the video all the way up to the break. He was spot on right down the line. I couldn’t agree with him more about forced patriotism, nationalism, etc. etc. Direct, to the point, well-said.

    Like any human, he has his flaws and strange views of certain things. We all do. Each one of us has what some might consider an odd take on matters here and there. But in that particular video, sheesh. Just right on the mark.

    Btw, did my post about YouTube help ya at all? Didn’t see any comments following it. I’m no expert on Youtube, but I know the Internet and computers pretty well. If you have any specific questions, please let me know. I used to do Internet/computer tech support for a living, etc. Though I’m a bit rusty. It’s been five years now.

    I think Jessie has moved a little to the left over the last few years, maybe.

    This is the ‘kind’ of thing one would expect from a young, rising team. This kind of game full of pluses and minuses.

    And this is the kind of game one would expect from a mentally tough, challenged, Seattle team. I thought THEY would be sky-high and motivated for this one. I mean everyone knew this was a statement game. Seattle certainly knew about that statement.

    Still looks to me like one team is rising and one is falling a bit.

    The rematch should be very inter esting.

    And now the test for McV is, can he get them back on track. Can he clean up the mistakes. And can he find a punt-returner with good hands.

    4-2 would sound a lot better than the sosar-like 3-3.

    seahawks to watch:https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/seahawks/seahawks-to-watch-against-los-angeles-rams-frank-clark-tyler-lockett-j-d-mckissic-and-more/

    By Bob Condotta
    Seattle Times staff reporter

    Here are five (well, six, actually) Seahawks particularly intriguing to watch against the Rams on Sunday.

    DEFENSIVE END FRANK CLARK: Sunday will mark the first game the Seahawks will play without Cliff Avril since 2013 — he has started every game since the beginning of the 2014 season. Clark will start in his place. It’s not the first time Clark has had to start getting the call for five games at mid-season last year when Michael Bennett was out, playing 77 percent of the snaps or more in all five, making one sack in three of the games. So this isn’t a new thing for Clark. But Clark has been battling a slew of nagging injuries — a broken bone on one hand, a torn ligament on the other, a hamstring issue as well as cramping against Titans, something to watch with the temperatures expected in the high 80s Sunday (Clark said later he would review how he prepared hydrating for the Tennessee game). Clark will need to play well and play a lot as there is little depth behind him with Marcus Smith and Bennett the only other official defensive ends after an injury this week knocked out newly-reacquired Quinton Jefferson. Clark has a good history against the Rams, though — 3.5 of his 10 sacks last season came in the two games against Los Angeles.

    OFFENSIVE TACKLES GERMAIN IFEDI AND REES ODHIAMBO: The punching bag that has been the Seahawks’ offensive line has to be given credit for playing better the last two weeks — no team in the NFL has gained more yards than the 910 of Seattle the last two games and the line has to have done something right, right? But the Rams have a better defensive front than the Titans or Colts and have always given the Seahawks fits. New Rams’ defensive coordinator Wade Phillips also continues to tinker with his front as he gets to know them — last week, the Rams moved tackle Michael Brockers to end which allowed rookie Tanzel Smart to start inside. Brockers responded with a key hit on Dak Prescott on a play that resulted in an interception as well as a sack. It hardly even needs to be said that Brockers and Robert Quinn — who has 10 career sacks of Russell Wilson — will provide a stiff test of Seattle’s tackles. Odhiambo is particularly worth watching early to see how he responds after the scary chest injury of last week. Matt Tobin is listed as his backup but the Seahawks also like the progress of Isaiah Battle — it’ll be interesting to see if Battle is active for the first time as a Seahawk. Battle has never played in an NFL game but spent his first two years on the Rams’ practice squad.

    WIDE RECEIVER TYLER LOCKETT: If Lockett had to shake off any rust early in the year as he came back from the devastating broken leg of last Dec. 24, his 41-yard from Russell Wilson last week appears to show he’s back to his usual form. Now he faces a team against which he has had some of his biggest games — two of what are statistically the top three in his career, in fact. Lockett had four receptions for 99 yards in Los Angeles last season and then seven for a career-high 130 yards along with a career-long 57-yard touchdown in Seattle last December the week before he was injured.
    Featured Video

    RUNNING BACK J.D. MCKISSIC: McKissic was one of the unexpected heroes of the win over the Colts when he had four carries for 38 yards, including a 30-yarder that helped break the game open, as well as a 27-yard TD catch that capped the second-half onslaught. If he might have caught the Colts by surprise, though, that won’t be the case with the Rams. And Seattle may again need him to play a significant role with C.J. Prosise again doubtful. McKissic’s game last week had some wondering if he’ll get a chance at helping replace Chris Carson as an early-down back. The Seahawks might work him in here and there in early downs but that role still appears likely to go to the duo of Thomas Rawls and Eddie Lacy with McKissic ticketed more for the third-down/two-minute back role. But that’s a big one in Seattle’s offense and with Prosise again unable to stay healthy, McKissic has a chance to show maybe it should be his full-time.

    CORNERBACK JUSTIN COLEMAN: Coleman was one of the other breakout stars of last week with an early pick six after stepping into a regular role in the nickel package with Jeremy Lane sidelined. Lane is likely again out meaning Coleman will again play the nickel. One of the keys to the Rams’ early success has been the play of slot receivers Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp, the latter a rookie from Eastern Washington who has two touchdown catches, one last week at Dallas. Woods has the best came of his six-year career last year against the Seahawks when he was with Buffalo catching 10 passes for 162 yards.

    Kinda seems that way, dont it.
    Is it the game that will reflect a major, surprising power-change in the NFC West? Will Gurley score four TDs and bury his head in a towel on the sidelines and weep?
    Will the beatdown the Rams put on the Seahawks be so humiliating that Pete Carroll pees his pants, and refuses to coach another game?

    When I started living alone again, I briefly considered buying a hand gun. Briefly as in about 30 seconds. I’ve fired weapons from time to time and it really is a lot of fun. However, I’d rather be gunned down by an armed intruder than have one of my grandchildren hurt by a weapon I may own. That’s good enough for me.

    So I know many gun owners and I can see why many of them do. They may live out in the sticks, or they hunt. Or they may be collectors. But with some, I find it disturbing when they react with almost religious fervor at the mere hint of ownership restrictions. It boils down to this…incrementalism. They fear a little gun control here and there will lead to the confiscation of their weapons.

    Well, I’m tired of waking up, turning on the TV and muttering, “Fuck. Again? Tired of it. I so feel for those lost and those left behind to deal with this madness. And I know grief up close and personal.

    It time to ban military style weapons. No civilian should own one. And maybe handguns, too.

    =============

    Well like most WVirginians, I own a gun. (handgun)
    I like having it in the house for protection against intruders. Just gives me some peace of mind.

    But yeah, i agree with ya. I’m fine with banning military style weapons.

    Aint gonna happen though. Like i said, a ton of people on the right, fear the government more than they fear the individual-nutcases.

    Often, the NRA-types talk about the solution being ‘mental health’ policies. But i never hear them get specific about what policies they are talking about.
    In WV we are WOEFULLY lacking in mental-health facilities for poor people. Its essentially every-crazy-person-for-him/herself
    in this State. There aint no real help available from the government.
