InvaderRamModeratorReynolds is a FA next year and Saffold has a cap hit of 6M+ next year, so maybe they are here or maybe not? They can keep the same group together, if they want. This group can be as large as the same 10 offensive linemen they had last year and they can keep all 10 for this year and the next 2 years.
that’s comforting to know.
InvaderRamModeratordoesn’t necessarily have to be the exact same line. but i would think as little change as possible would be better.
and also at this point i would put development ahead of just putting the best oline out there. unless of course reynolds and saffold are so much better than brown and wichmann that it doesn’t make any sense to just throw them out there.
InvaderRamModeratorand because of the contract situations i think i’d rather go brown and wichmann. even if they are just a little behind reynolds in individual ability. reynolds is a free agent next season. saffold can’t stay healthy. brown and wichmann are under contract through 2018.
InvaderRamModeratoryou know. it really doesn’t matter to me who is at guard. whether it be reynolds and saffold or reynolds and brown or however many iterations the rams need to find their two starting guards. i just want those 5 on the field playing together for the majority of the season. getting that chemistry working is more important than any one individual breaking out.
InvaderRamModeratormore than any one lineman breaking out. they just gotta keep playing together as a unit.
in 2015. greg robinson’s first year as a full time starting left tackle. tim barnes’ first year as a full time starting center. havenstein’s first year as a full time starting right tackle. so it was good to have at least those three playing together for the entire season.
but guard was just a mess. i’m hoping wichmann can springboard off the end of the season and just grab one of the guard spots. and hopefully brown can grab the other spot and just let them play together as a unit.
also. is this the year quinn and donald dominate as a duo?

InvaderRamModeratorhappy birthday, pa.
InvaderRamModerator. One thing you can look at with Fisher is his record with backup QBs. I believe the league winning percentage is about .250. The Rams are 13-17 (.433) under him when starting backup QBs. Just as one example Jason Garrett is 1-13 (.072) when Romo doesn’t start.
it is interesting.
i mean how good would belichick be without brady? and let’s face it. they lucked out and picked him in the sixth. they had no idea how good he would be. he did do well with cassel as his qb that one year.
conversely. how good would fisher look if the rams absolutely nail it with the goff pick? fisher and mcnair were a pretty formidable duo.
mind you. i’m not trying to say fisher is as good as belichick. just that belichick has had the fortune of coaching a hall of fame qb for the bulk of his career.

InvaderRamModeratorwell let’s hope cooper can have a rookie season like diggs did last year. diggs had a score of 89.5% just like cooper. fwiw.
InvaderRamModeratorgaines is the reason i wasn’t too upset that jenkins left. i’m more worried about fs and mlb actually. although with the secondary i’ll never be too worried as long as fisher and williams are here. they always seem to be able to develop players there. in fact, if they can find a replacement for mcleod, i think they’ll actually be better there than they were last year.
and of course if ogletree can handle the middle and robert quinn can finally come back healthy, the defense as a whole should be better. although that’s three big questions i just posed.
InvaderRamModeratorinteresting.

InvaderRamModeratorand not just your own timing. the way i understood it is knowing at each step where your receivers are supposed to be. being in sync with the entire offense. and then when you get to the proper depth you have to be decisive and get that ball out or the timing is all screwed up.
at least that’s the way i understand it.

InvaderRamModeratori just find it annoying although i knew all this before the rams moved.
i’m gonna try and make it to a game when it’s in the coliseum but no way i go to games in the new stadium. not even sure i’ll be able to afford it.

InvaderRamModeratorThat’s because Rams’ owner Stan Kroenke’s $2.6 billion stadium and development project will become the most lavish stadium project in North American sports the day it opens.
mmm…. is it too late for the rams to move back to st. louis???

InvaderRamModeratormaybe the owners should go on a walk of shame.
shame! shame!

InvaderRamModeratorit’d be cooler if the rams actually got to a superbowl.
hahahaha!
InvaderRamModeratori think i’m not as concerned about the oline as i used to be although i still think there needs to be improvement.
the good news is there is lots of potential on that line. and i agree. run blocking needs to be more consistent.
InvaderRamModeratorash williams?
InvaderRamModeratorall joking aside. looking at clips of goff in the rams rookie orientation, and he definitely looks bigger than the college clips i’ve seen of him. and it’s only been 5 months since he got out of college.
and like mentioned above we have to remember he’s only 21 years old and will turn 22 in october. his body isn’t fully developed yet. by comparison bradford was already 22 when he was drafted and turned 23 during his rookie season. just that one year can make a big difference.
i don’t know about 240 pounds. it’s awful hard to maintain that weight during an nfl regular season. but i fully expect him to enter his rookie season at about 225 pounds. and i think he’ll eventually settle into around a 225-230 pound playing weight when he is fully mature.
but again. as i keep saying. i think more than the durability issues people had with his slight build the biggest difference we’ll see is his arm strength. his arm strength was already graded out as above average. i think eventually he’ll have above average to just under elite arm strength when it’s all said and done.
InvaderRamModeratorthe only thing about stuck out about forrest was that people said he played better than he tested.
also used to play basketball i think.
but to be honest i’ve barely seen goff play much less forrest.
InvaderRamModeratori’d feel so much better if higbee didn’t get injured so much.
InvaderRamModeratorhis hands are still tiny.

InvaderRamModeratorthat new stadium is gonna price out a lot of fans.
i’d rather they just stay at the coliseum.
May 19, 2016 at 8:20 pm in reply to: Wagoner: as teams go smaller on defense, Rams push to get bigger on offense #44365
InvaderRamModeratorit will always be a passing league, but i do like the idea of countering all that speed on defense with some power. if it actually works. i guess we’ll find out.
InvaderRamModerator“My first goal is to get the playbook down pat so I can play as fast as I can,” Thomas said. “That’s what I’m aiming for — just learning the playbook as fast as I can so once I learn the playbook, and play it fast, I know I’m going to make the team. I’m confident.”
haha. every interview he’s like that. the enthusiasm just bubbles through.
i think he has the potential to be the best wr the rams have had since torry holt left. not that that’s saying much considering the receivers the rams have had since then.
i just think it’s going to take thomas at least a year before we see that.
May 17, 2016 at 6:34 pm in reply to: Wagoner: Landing with Rams gives Jared Goff chance for rookie success #44194
InvaderRamModeratorin the case of roethlisberger he also had hines ward. a veteran wr who had 200 catches in the 2 previous seasons before ben was drafted.
even russell wilson had sidney rice. while not spectacular did have a 1000 yard season with the vikings until knee, hip, and brain injuries derailed his career.
i have no clue who that will be for goff. maybe britt. but he’s always been a disappointment. did have a good start in tennessee in 2011 before he injured his acl but never has had 1000 yards. maybe being paired with a number one pick will motivate him.
maybe tavon? or maybe a combo of tavon and britt.
but he needs that receiver. even brady had brown and manning had harrison. brees had conway.

InvaderRamModeratorand also a running back still rehabbing and acclimation to a step up in level of competition.
so i would expect an uptick in second level yards as he gainz more experience and maybe even an uptick in open field yards as gurley gains explosion as well as improved oline and qb play.
InvaderRamModeratorgeez. wonder if martz would ever consider becoming a qb coach for the rams.
seem to remember him having problems with fisher during one of those joint training camp scrimmages.
InvaderRamModeratorany reports on robert quinn’s health?

Los Angeles Spine Group Surgeons Discuss Robert Quinn of the St. Louis Rams Recovery from Back Surgery
Dr. Sanjay Khurana and Dr. Rojeh Melikian of Los Angeles Spine Group comment on an ESPN article about the treatment and expected recovery process for the professional football player’s back injuries.
LOS ANGELES, CA (PRWEB) FEBRUARY 25, 2016
According to a January 8 ESPN article about defensive end Robert Quinn of the St. Louis Rams, the football star is currently in recovery from back surgery to correct an unspecified injury. According to Quinn, he is up and walking again and focusing on his rehabilitation. Some form of back strain and spine injuries are inherent to all sports, particularly from the grueling physical contact that is routine in professional football. Many star athletes are forced to take some time off over the course of their careers to heal and recover from injuries that can range from mild muscle strains and tears, to more serious damage to the spine, joints, and lower back. Orthopedic spine surgeons Dr. Sanjay Khurana and Dr. Rojeh Melikian from the Los Angeles Spine Group discuss the effects and recovery time needed for spine surgery.
“Spine injuries and chronic back pain are not at all uncommon among professional athletes, especially football players. With reports suggesting that he was previously suffering from hip and knee problems before his back surgery, Robert Quinn was most likely suffering from progressive damage that impacted his ability to continue performing without surgical intervention,” said Dr. Sanjay Khurana, a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon at Los Angeles Spine Group.
Quinn had notably missed playing in several games of the 2015 season while trying to identify the source of his problems, stating that he attributed his symptoms to “getting old.”
“Thanks to technology and developments like robotic spine surgery, back surgery is now less invasive than ever before. Depending on the nature and extent of pressure and injury to the spine, many people are healing and recovering from surgery for back pain faster and more successfully than ever before,” added Dr. Rojeh Melikian. “Conventional wisdom used to dictate that physical decline and pain, especially where the back and spine were concerned, were inevitable with age. And while it may be true that many conditions are more common as we get older, staying active, maintaining a healthy weight, and seeking treatment for problems like chronic pain can really make a difference in how well we age.”
Dr. Sanjay Khurana is a board-certified and fellowship trained pediatric and adult orthopedic spine surgeon in Los Angeles. He specializes in minimally invasive and robotic spine surgery procedures with an emphasis on degenerative disc disease, herniated disc, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and spinal deformity, spinal instability, spine trauma, spine tumors and spondylolisthesis. Dr. Khurana completed his undergraduate degree at the University of California at Berkeley and his medical school and orthopedic surgery residency at The Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Khurana completed his combined orthopedic and neurosurgical training at the prestigious University of Miami / Jackson Memorial spine fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. Frank Eismont and Dr. Barth Green.

InvaderRamModeratori don’t know about chuckie’s qb camp, but i did read several reports that said goff did not come off well in one on one interviews. but that very well could have been smoke coming from the browns camp.
i also heard on sirius. not sure who it was. might have been kirwan. that goff supposedly got very upset. maybe even childish or bratty. when questioned about his hand size. kirwan qualified that statement, however, by saying that while it may be a character flaw in one’s personal life, it wasn’t necessarily a character flaw when it came to being a football player. he said the great ones have that trait. guys like tom brady and peyton manning. douchebags. but guys who are obsessed with perfection and being the best.
InvaderRamModeratorbeyond the legal issues i worry about this guy’s durability. the guy has not been able to stay healthy.
