I liked Madden cause he was… Madden, but I liked Clayton cause he was Clayton. w v

Neither one would have netted more than a 6th.

So…not similar to Van Jefferson, then?

Looking at the compensation for the Wentz and Ryan trades — two 3rds, and one 3rd, respectively — it makes the 6th rounder for Woods all the more absurd. Wentz is basically a bust. Ryan is the better player, but he’s 37. Woods deserves at least similar returns. Worst case scenario: a 4th this year. At worst. If we’re comparing his overall game, and his intangibles, to Davante Adams . . . I’m thinking the Rams should have gotten at least a 2nd. Woods is actually a 1st round receiver, and proven many times over. But, yeah, the age and injury thing kick in too. So I get that.

I was thinking a along those lines. I mean…a 6th round pick has, like, 50/50 chance of being with the team for  Year 3. Probably less than that. And that would be spot duty and special teams, maybe. Woods will still be starting and contributing 3 years from now, without a doubt. And he’s a known quantity. He’s GOOD.

But…there are a lot of good WRs. Only a few teams have nobody. Most teams have serviceable WRs, or even really, really good WRs.

QBs just aren’t a good comparison. Wentz may be a “bust,” but he’s a still better than other starting QBs in this league. That’s the reality.

This is the thing. This right here.

    Yep.

We are looking at the most effective front office in Rams history.

The media seems to have morphed from pipeline of BS to generator of BS. The media itself is doctoring photos and videos, and so on.

According to the press accounts I have seen about this issue, that’s not true.

I think I have a better way of expressing this now.

I think the media has now fully come to terms with the fact that they are the propaganda department.

Media used to see itself as independent investigators, reporting the Truth. From time-to-time, they collaborated with Power to shape an “important” narrative, but still saw themselves as basically independent.

That has eroded over time so much that I think now that no longer lie to themselves about that. They know their function is to spin stories, and it’s openly accepted. They don’t fool themselves into thinking they report objective reality. They weave it, and they know that’s what they do.

amari cooper netted a fifth and a move up the sixth round this year.

I did not know that. I saw he was traded, but did not notice the details.

That does change my thinking on it. That’s kind of mind-blowing to me. There are a lot of good WR, but…wow.

It was neither. It was because they gave Woods the final say in choosing which team he wanted to be traded to. He chose the team he wanted most, and the Rams, out of respect to him, just accepted the Titan’s low bid. They weren’t out for the highest bidder, they were honoring Woods’s choice of teams, out of deference to what he meant to the Rams and how he conducted himself as a player and leader.

I believe the Rams wanted to “do right” by Woods.

But I’d sure like to know how these negotiations went. Did the Rams contact TN? What did the Eagles, Browns, and Bears offer? I can’t wrap my head around a 6th rounder.

I have often wondered about the Rams getting poor return value on players they part with, but I’ve always thought that there is a possibility that I overvalue Rams players. But this is nonsense. A 6th rounder is probably out of the league before Woods retires. Woods is not just a proven starter, he is very, very good. It just seems like terrible poker playing on the part of the Rams.

Robinson better be very, very good.

Because they didn’t have to sign him. This whole roster change comes out of the oven as Robinson + 6th round pick in exchange for Woods.

    Now…why would you do that?

It must be scheme. We know that Woods was down in production this year, and was actually unhappy after the first month of the season. Maybe the Rams decided that Woods wasn’t a real good match with Stafford’s style of play, and Robinson is a better fit. Let’s hope so.

But…a sixth? Is that what TN thought Woods is worth? Did the Rams just lay al their cards on the table? Did they make no effort to leverage the other teams’ offers against TN to make them pay more?

    Anyway. So be it.

I would have liked to be in on the conversations because there is no way, from my couch, that this trade makes sense.

Well as was said in the thread, it’s a 6th rounder because the Rams let Woods choose the team he went to, and he chose the Titans…and that’s all they were offering.

Okay, but sending Woods where he wants to go could be a consideration, but surely if another team offered something better – a 4th, say – business is business. They might give him the courtesy of 10-12 slots difference, but…a SIXTH?

For the Vikings fella, I woulda understood. A position of depth for a position of need. Would not have loved it, but would have understood.

    A 6th rounder?

I would have liked to be in on the conversations because there is no way, from my couch, that this trade makes sense. I mean…if 5 teams were interested, how the F### is a 6th rounder not a laughable bid? Would you trade a 6th rounder to acquire Woods? In a nanosecond.

Why do the Rams trade a 2nd and a 3rd for Miller for half a season, and get only a 6th for Robert Woods for 3 years, or whatever he has left?

    This just derails my brain.

I do not consent to a Robert Woods trade.

They can deal Jefferson if they want, though I can’t see what that would accomplish. He’s cheap, and without much trade value.

But I want the Rams to get an edge rusher the easy way. Maybe the NFL can rig it for the Rams to win two years in a row.

I would prefer that the Rams keep Woods and draft a premier pass rusher in the sixth round.

I’m not shedding tears for Van Jefferson, if he gets left out. Nice guy, whatever, made some plays, okay. But he hasn’t exactly created a legacy. I want more from that guy, and he can either give it to me, or go play for the Jets, or something.

And Atwell can go join the Hall of Shame along with Trung Canidate, Mike Schad, Greg Robinson, Lawrence Phillips, Wayne Gandy, Jimmy Kennedy, and Bill Hawkins.

I never heard of him, either, but he looked good in that highlight video. Goes over the middle, makes tough catches. I don’t know about YAC or making people miss, but he’s big, and catches the ball. He’s a good player. There’s a part of me waiting for the other shoe to drop, though. And I hope it ain’t Woods.

Kupp, Woods, OBJ, and Robinson is lethal, imo.

I did not see this coming. I hope this is just insurance, though, and not the end of Robert Woods.

Well, I am bummed about Von Miller, though not shocked. He made a difference, and I’m not sure they would be SB champs without him.

But I also think that if they had Woods and OBJ and Higbee and Fuller, they woulda won anyway. Miller was the difference on a team that had only one leg left to stand on.

Cam Akers should be better next season.

I think they need to replace Miller with somebody, especially with Oko gone, too. They need another Edge. And secondary everywhere.

And fer gawd’s sake, they need a punter.

I think it’s their fan base.

I think a lot of their fans are really skeptical of their ability to draft players, and to put together another run. The same fan base that was still glowing a couple of days ago.

I think there are people – and I’m not pointing any fingers at anyone who might live in coal country – who may as well dress in red and gold.

I think the Rams need an upgrade in the fan base. Maybe find some fans who don’t sleep in Eeyore bedsheets.
