ZooeyModeratorI don’t know why they would do better against Dallas. They could play better against the run than they have all season, and still have a worse overall performance against Dallas. Dallas allegedly has the best offensive line in the league, and they have Ezekiel Elliott.

ZooeyModeratorNothing stops anyone from suing. The question is, “would they have a winnable case?”
I don’t know, and I’m not an attorney, so I can only guess. And my guess is that to win that lawsuit, they would have to prove that San Diego moved to LA just to prevent the Raiders from doing it, and meant to return to SD all along. And I don’t believe that’s a Thing. There is no provision in the terms of the LA deal that would cover a temporary move to LA, and a change of heart.
Secondly, the Raiders would then face a lawsuit from the Las Vegas entities because THEY have a deal. Then…there is the NFL. The owners voted to approve the move to Las Vegas. I can’t imagine they would be interested in turning around to vote on cancelling that move, and voting for the Raiders to move to LA instead. The Raiders could argue in court that their move to LA was already approved in the event San Diego did not exercise their option, but that’s more litigation, and litigation against a likely hostile league.
I think it’s too late for the Raiders to change course at this point, and if it isn’t yet, it soon will be. I don’t know if they have actually had groundbreaking at the Las Vegas site, but…. I don’t think the Raiders, at this point, would be interested in getting all tied up in that mess.
But – in the end – I don’t think San Diego returns without a stadium deal. So that has to happen. And talks about a stadium deal will leak eventually, and Don Banks doesn’t say those are even going on. Just that the league isn’t happy with San Diego’s reception in LA. Right now, this is just stating the obvious, imo. The league isn’t happy with the Chargers’ occupation of LA AT THIS MOMENT, and San Diego is the preferred city from their point of view. That’s really all that’s being said, and I don’t think that’s any big revelation.
There is no revelation until there are stories about a stadium deal in San Diego getting serious discussion.
I happen to think – on the basis of zero evidence, but just that corner of my brain that tells me that businessmen keep their options open – that there is likely some conversations happening about a stadium possibility. Does the reality of the Chargers playing in LA increase what San Diego is willing to put into a stadium? It might. Would Spanos and the League prefer the Chargers to be in a swanky new stadium in San Diego? I think the answer to that is Yes.

#NFL refutes story about sending #Chargers back to San Diego (It’s absolute crazy talk)What would be the consequences of saying anything short of that?
ZooeyModerator49-yard pass to Watkins.
My favorite play of the night.
I’ve had a crush on Sammy Watkins since Clemson. I wanted the Rams to draft him.
I cannot believe they got him.
ZooeyModeratorBut I LOVED it. Love what McVay is doing with this team. What a difference an offensive coach can make. They did everything right this off season. And it shows.
Well, an offensive coach, a #1 WR, a #2 WR, a #3 WR, and a LT can make.

ZooeyModeratorYeah, I’ve long suspected they will move back. We’ll see. But it really does make more sense for them to be in SD. But moving to LA keeps the Raiders out which I think is actually significant to many of the owners. Plus the Chargers have some real leverage to try to strike a SD deal.
I’ve thought all along that the Rams in LA in the Kroenkedome, the Chargers in SD in a new stadium, and the Raiders anywhere but the coliseum in Oakland was really what the majority of owners would prefer. And it may still happen. And I hope it does cuz I no wanna be in the same stadium as the Chargers.
ZooeyModeratorMcVay > Boras
If I’m a 9er fan, after I get over the loss, the thing that’s going to bug me a lot longer is the realization that Jared Goff isn’t a bust, and could well haunt the 9ers for a decade.
Tavon Austin is less valuable to this team than Amp Lee was to the GSOT. There are 13 more games for him to find a useful role. The jet sweep is nice…but somebody else could do that for 1/10th the salary.
I miss Janoris Jenkins. He would have been a better investment than Austin.
Donald looked better than the Washington game. But I felt like the announcers were gushing over him last night because announcers have their “Drool Points” on a 3 x 5 card. I am happy to see these other DL playing well. That’s the really good news. I don’t know what’s going on up front, but I’m concerned it may the LBs. I’m waiting for the tape watchers to give me something.
That was an important win. A loss there would have been devastating, against the crappy 9ers – Again! – and after surrendering a lead they should never have lost in the first place. 2-1 is much, much, much better than 1-2 with a division loss to a bad team they lost both games to last year.
And…as I said before…this is almost like a bye week coming up. They won the short week thing, and now they have time to rest and get some stuff worked out on defense.
Exciting game. Rough 4th quarter. Arrow definitely pointing up, especially on offense.
ZooeyModeratorYeah, 9er fans are going to cry about that PI call. That was a killer for them. It didn’t look egregious on the replay, but we saw only one angle. I don’t care.
Woods and Watkins 100+ yards receiving, Gurley 100 rushing, Goff a very, very good game.
Mid-range is definitely back. Some good things happening.
The downside: Penalties. Tackling. Need another CB.
Pretty happy about 10 days to rest, practice, and get ready for an off-balance Dallas.
Best looking start for the Rams in years. It is officially going to be an entertaining season, and that is a big improvement right there.
ZooeyModeratorIs there a cover charge?
ZooeyModerator“Oh, there you go, bringing class into it again–“
ZooeyModeratorI predict suicidal thoughts if the Rams lose.
ZooeyModeratorI always like speed kills’ posts and agree with a lot of what he says above but I’m not necessarily convinced it will take another year for this team to contend for a wildcard. Teams can grow up a lot over the course of the season if the talent is there.
I think the Rams may have a better shot at the division than a wild card.
The NFC West is down this year, and I think the division is up for grabs.
Meanwhile, I don’t think a wild card team is likely from the West. Obviously, it’s too early to say anything with much confidence, but that’s what I think.
The Rams need to take care of the games within the division.
ZooeyModeratorI am not certain they need more swag. I was thinking More Points would be good.
ZooeyModeratorRobey-Coleman hasn’t impressed me so far.
I’m thinking CB is high on the draft wish list this year.
Ah, look. Two weeks into the season, and I already posted a Draft post.
ZooeyModeratorOkay, well, I admit I’m not a professional football player.
But I have never understood how punters can be so damn inaccurate, and that when someone like Hekker comes around, he’s a bloody marvel.
Punting.
That’s your job. Your DAY job. It’s the thing you do all day, every day. Punt. How hard can it be to punt with accuracy when that’s what you practice all day?
ZooeyModeratorI hate Washington.
42-16.
Let the GSOT comparisons begin.
ZooeyModeratorI don’t know. But we are moving into High Concern area.
I don’t think these videos are evidence of a problem with Gurley.
To be fair. I am not sure anyone really knows yet.
Here’s the other view. In this podcast: http://theramshuddle.com/topic/gonzalez-joins-bill-barnwell-to-discuss-the-rams-podcast/ Gonzalez, the Rams ESPN guy (LA’s David Wagoner if you will), says that regardless what the numbers say in terms of how many are in the box etc., if you watch the game tape it’s pretty clear that defenses are still geared toward taking Gurley away. In spite of that, Gonzalez says that at practice you clearly see TG is a very talented back.
So this is a mystery right now. Who knows yet. I have my doubts about Gurley as a back but I don’t have any final coffin nails yet.
..
Right.
And I will add this: if Goff continues to put up 240 – 300 yards a game, and Gurley doesn’t get free, it’s Gurley. Because pretty soon, DCs are going to recognize they have a problem with Kupp, Watkins, et al.
ZooeyModeratorI don’t know.
I think it is odd that he hasn’t had a single 100 yard game since 2015.
And the pessimistic side can’t help but recalling that his impressive numbers from his rookie year came because of the long gainers. Subtract the long gainers, and he gets 3 yards a carry, or less (don’t have the stats). Were those fluky?
He just does not appear to be the kind of back that goes: 2, 8, 6, 12, 4, 1, 7, 15….
He used to have short runs combined with long bursts. Now it’s just short runs.
I don’t know. But we are moving into High Concern area.
ZooeyModeratorWonder why X disagrees with us on the anti-nazi thing?
Maybe he’ll explain it.

vThe conservative media have been banging away that Antifa are violent commies who have started all the fights, and who are much more inherently violent than the Fascists who – it they were just left alone – would just march a little bit in small numbers, then go home without any consequence to society. That’s the unbroken storyline on the right.
ZooeyModeratorSome time ago, I looked up Naomi Klein and was disappointed to learn she is married, and has kids, I think. It’s too bad because I think we really could have had something special.
ZooeyModeratorSo…you’re recommending people inhale sanitizers? Seems…dangerous to me. Even irresponsible of you.
September 11, 2017 at 7:49 pm in reply to: Goff week 1 & after…have other Rams qbs thrown passes like the TD to Kupp? #74203
ZooeyModeratorThere were a lot of highlights in the game, and many of them make me very happy, but this play makes me happier than all the others.
This is the play that opened up Tomorrow for me.
ZooeyModeratorThe Rams are under a media blackout.
Last night–on the pre-game for the Cowboys/Giants, they weren’t mentioned. On Good Morning Football today–at least the first hour and a half–they didn’t show highlights and only mentioned them in saying that the Jags had a great defense for fantasy and tied the Rams.
All they want to talk about is one of the most boring games in history–the Cowboys/Giants snorefest.
I know they beat a bad team but that game had exciting highlights–big plays.
Cowboys!!!! Packers!!!!! Giants!!!!! Seahawks!!!! Packers!!!
That’s pretty much the show.
‘Twas always thus, and always thus will be.
ZooeyModeratorHey, Mr. Bacteria.
Tell me…what about these hand sanitizer things?
I woulda thought…and admittedly art is more my line than science…that anti-bacterial this and that was essentially useless. Since I’d guess that the main thing to worry about is the common cold…which is caused by a virus rather than bacteria…that they don’t help anything.
Paint me a picture.
ZooeyModerator6 games worth of highlights in one game.
Cooper Kupp looks like he may live up to the hype.
And the TD to Kupp…Goff just has TIME. He’s waiting for somebody to come clear underneath first, close to the marker, and when he doesn’t, Goff lasers it to Kupp.
Protect Goff, and the Rams are going to win a lot of games.
ZooeyModeratorThe sun was not moving. I’m tellin ya, it stood as still as Tom Mack.

vYou win. Post of the Week.
ZooeyModeratorMan, I’m telling you. If they just had a FB, they would be looking at century burgers.
ZooeyModeratorAnd time to throw.
They will score more points this year.
And when teams realize they have to respect the passing game, Gurley may bust out for a 75-yard day.
ZooeyModeratorThe arrow is pointing up.
To overstate the obvious, the Colts are not the same without Luck, the running game looked as bad as last year, their third down conversion percentage was ungood, there was a lot of sloppy tackling, and there were too many penalties bunched up early in the game.
On the bright side, they settled down re: penalties, Gurley was effective catching the ball, the play action worked, the Rams now have several receiving targets, the defense appears to be more focused on takeaways than last year (based not only on the numbers and the 16 points, but also on some attempted strips I saw), and the mid-range passing was connecting. Oh…and Goff had time. Those are all good things, and I think significant improvements.
To state one more obvious observation: it’s only one game.
But…arrow point up.
ZooeyModeratorIn principle, I don’t disagree. However, what impact would free public college have on the delivery system of higher education? Do you really think that top-down Government regulation of education would be efficient? Would it not be more beneficial to foster more entrepreneurship in higher education while giving all institutions a real stake in their students’ success? Also, should *everyone* be able to waste the resources of higher education? Aren’t there enough people who go to college for no other reason than to go, and don’t finish? Wouldn’t that particular problem be exacerbated with an open door policy?
I dunno about the first questions. I think those are the biggest ones that would need to be tackled.
As for the last questions, I think…maybe. However, I would counter that ignorance is a fairly significant problem, and an unfinished degree is probably still better for our civilization than a degree that was never started in the first place.
