    For me, the vinegar and the sugar are non-starters.

    I prefer a potato salad made from potatoes, eggs, celery, parsley, red pepper, mayo, bacon, onion, salt and pepper (maybe some fresh dill if you have it).

    Most of the eggs get diced, but slice one up for the topper and dust with paprika.

    This is my Polish grandmother’s recipe, minus the bacon. Just recently added the bacon, and it makes a huge positive impact.

    btw, do we know if Goff likes bacon? If snisher did their ‘due diligence’
    then they know.

    I don’t agree with corporate personhood. You can blame monied interests like the 1% and mega-corporations but that isn’t the problem. The too easily bought politicians are the problem.

    “…Neuroscience tells us that the brains of kids regularly facing significant trauma or toxic stress are wired for survival and likely to erupt at the smallest provocation. A major study of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) by the Centers for Disease Control and Kaiser Permanente found that the higher a young person’s ACEs score, the greater the risk in adulthood of chronic disease, mental illness, and premature death. These children also have a far greater future likelihood of either inflicting or being the victim of violence…”

    Yup. This gets to the crux of why I am a leftist.

    Most middle-class folks dont recognize the full spectrum of A.C.E.’s that
    are tied to poverty. I mean, everyone knows about the big dramatic traumatic events
    that tend to go along with poverty. But its the silent, chronic low-level stresses
    that dehumanize and limit and slowly destroy people trapped in poverty.

    The vast majority of them…have no chance.

    And the book that pointed me in its direction, George Scialabba’s What are Intellectuals Good For. To me, it’s a must-read, especially for leftists.

    My son really liked the books. Nobody in my family has seen the show, probably because we don’t have HBO, though my son is expert at piracy.

    I’d like to read them, but there seems to be about 1,000 hours required to do that, and I do not have that kind of time.

    Do you do netflix?

    What you say about republicans you could say about democrats too. So why don’t you?

    No I don’t believe the official story of 9/11. Why would anyone? Look at the aftermath. Who gained power? The american people? NO. The US government, YES.

    —————–
    bnw, all the leftists on here trash the Democrats non-stop.

    Sorry but have to call BS on that. Case in point would be appointees to the US Supreme Court. Other issues as well. The liberal cheerleading if not bias is far from hidden. Democrats overwhelmingly get the soft serve here. Doesn’t matter to me since I get an opportunity to hear another view and perhaps learn something. Trump will be the first republican I’ve ever voted for president.

    ================

    Yeah, its true, that the leftists prefer Dems to pick judges as opposed to Reps.
    That part is true. But I think you are missing part of the truth of that dynamic.

    Its a lesser of two evils thing.

    we dont like the Dems but they are slightly better
    on social issues than the Reps. But they are both loathsome parties,
    and a Leftist would not choose the same judge that a Democrat would,
    or a Republican.

    But yeah, if you forced me to choose between an Obama or a McCain
    to pick a judge, I’d hold my nose and take Obama. Lesser of two evils though.
    For me, anyway.

    ————
    Looks like the tricky judgment part involves deciding
    when a receiver is:
    “turning up field”
    or
    “tucking the ball away”

    People might disagree on the exact instant
    either of those happens/doesn’t happen.

    But how else are ya gonna write the rule?
    There’s always gonna be some gray-area judgment part of it.

    Not true. Especially before the primaries last year. During the primaries among the 17 again not true. Graham, Cruz, Rubio, Romney, Ryan no thanks. Since Trump should have the nomination then yes I have been partisan but only because of Trump. Depending upon his pick for VP I assure you I will unload when warranted.

    ==================
    Ok, but I’m not sure what it is exactly that you dont like about mainstream republicans. I dont like’em because I see them as puppets of big-private-sector-corporations. In the pockets of the big-private-sector. Why dont ‘you’ like’em ?

    It sounds like you dont believe the official story about 9-11. So who or what do you think was behind it all ?

    I paraphrased it below. Its tricky alright. But its tough to write good laws.

    w
    v

    ==================
    Pass is complete, if player is inbounds and:

    A. Secures ball in hands or arms before ball hits ground, and

    B. Touches ground inbounds with two feet or any part of body other than hands, and

    C. Maintains control of ball after a and b have been fulfilled, UNTIL he
    has the ball long enough to clearly become a runner, — ie,
    when his second foot is on ground,
    he is capable of avoiding or warding off impending contact of opponent,
    tucking ball away,
    turning up field,
    or taking additional steps

    IF player has control of ball, a slight movement of ball will not be considered loss of possession

    If player loses the ball while simultaneously touching both feet or body part to ground, it is not a catch

    Fwiw, as a sidebar, some folks think dallas has a better-than-most
    kinda police force:

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-watch/wp/2015/01/12/what-dallass-historically-low-murder-rate-can-teach-us-about-policing/

    ps – i thot this was an inter esting paragraph:

    “… The massive crime drop we’ve seen across the country since the mid-1990s occurred in places that both did and didn’t engage in mass incarceration, did and didn’t engage in “broken windows”-style policing, did and didn’t commit to real community-oriented policing, did and didn’t use a widespread stop-and-frisk policy, and so on. It’s quite possible that the drop had nothing to do policing strategy at all and instead was the product of rising standards of living, an aging population, or even environmental factors like a decrease in childhood exposure to lead.”

    Good questions, WV.

    Personally, I don’t think our focus should be so much on trying to change the way people view race — though that’s important — but instead on preventing its effects. Preventing the application of racist beliefs in society…

    ===============

    Yeah, i just wonder what ‘prevention’ would look like. Ya know.

    It would require nurturing ‘critical thinking’. How does a society do that?

    It would require meeting citizens basic needs so that have time/energy/safety in order to have the luxury of ‘thinking critically’. How does a society accomplish that?

    …i suppose amerika has made a ton of progress with race/jingoism/superstition.
    But with the pace of corporate-destruction increasing, and the pace of environmental degradation increasing….how much more time do we have to be so…ignorant?
