wvParticipantSchwartz was assistant coach of the year in 2023, and was DC during the Eagles super bowl during the Nick Foles era. He built a purty good D in Cleveland.
I dunno. Cleveland may just get Worse.

wvParticipantso landman gets a 3 year 22 million contract. jones gets a 3 year 33 million contract. they gave tutu a one year 10 million contract. and he’s inactive for the nfc championship.
weren’t they better off just giving jones the three year contract? or was he asking for more at the time?
they don’t usually make mistakes, but this time they did.
Not sure Seattle wins without Kupp and E.Jones.

wvParticipantSo many playoff games come down to one big play. Without a dominant team in the NFL these days, you have about ten teams that are within one or two plays of each other. Razor thin room for errors.
Collinsworth still cant watch this one.
wvParticipantMistakes in the playoffs are killers.
wvParticipantThere are 6 million 6 hundred and 6 reasons why the USA has become the Ecocidal Death Machine it has become. Big reasons and medium reasons and small reasons. One of the Big-Reasons is the evolution of corporate-capitalist-propaganda in all its pervasive forms, whether reflected in movies, ‘education,’ books, blogs, institutions, tv-shows, advertisements, whatever.
I discovered one of those examples of propaganda the other day when i watched a show I didnt know much about: Landman. With Billy-Bob Thornton. I watched it, because I liked Billy-Bob Thornton. I dont like him anymore. I dont like Demi Moore anymore either. She’s in it. I dont like anyone who would be in this thing.
If you’ve never heard of it, its a popular series about the Oil Bizness. Set in Texas. Jerry Jones even did a scene in it. The show has speech after speech after speech explaining how their is no alternative to the oil-based economy, and how alternative energies are supported by Russia, and the Oil Industry is what makes America great, and the big Oil Billionaires are very concerned about their workers, and climate change is a hoax, and fracking is actually good, and — get this — the Oil Industry is actually battling the Cartels and terrorists and making America safe for democracy.
I swear, this show is just like watching Fox News. Even the actresses on the show look like Fox News hosts.
The acting is good, the dialogue is snappy, its very slick and entertaining.
We are all doomed. And thats a good thing.

wvParticipantAs it stands right now, my guess is that one pick is a DB and the other is a WR. Obviously, an overhaul is needed in the secondary, but I can’t imagine the Rams going defense with both first round picks. It just doesn’t fit with their current profile.
I would expect them to try to address the secondary in FA or through a trade as well as in the draft. So that could change how things go in the first round.
I’d be curious how they view their ‘super bowl window’. Maybe they think Stafford will only play one more year. Or maybe two if he stays healthy next year. If thats how they look at it, they may lean more into ‘going all in’ for the short term. I have a feeling they will really push-the-cap this year. I think they will do more than just sign their core young guys.
As far as the draft who knows. Depends on who they are gonna sign in free agency. Can they pick up a DB in free agency. Can they pick up an OLineman in free agency. Do they have Olinemen on the roster they really like, etc.
If Higbee is leaving do they need a Tight End?

wvParticipantPFF mock.
13. Los Angeles Rams (via Atlanta): CB Jermod McCoy, Tennessee
Armed with two first-round picks, the Rams have ample opportunity to add to an already loaded roster this year. Cornerback should be a priority given the team’s recent struggles in coverage. Tennessee’s Jermod McCoy did not play this season due to a knee injury, but he delivered a standout 2024 campaign in which he ranked ninth among qualified cornerbacks in coverage grade (89.6).
==
29. Los Angeles Rams: CB Keith Abney II, Arizona StatePhiladelphia drafted cornerbacks with its first two picks in 2024, a move that paid off with a championship. The Rams could look to follow a similar blueprint to address their biggest weakness. Arizona State’s Keith Abney II is coming off an outstanding final season in which he ranked among the top 15 qualified FBS cornerbacks with an 85.3 coverage grade while recording two interceptions and nine pass breakups.

wvParticipantdefinitely i’d like to see curl, mevis, and mcquaide back.
I’d also like to see Jimmy G back. At some point Stafford is going to miss some games, one would think.

wvParticipantDaniel Jeremiah, mock:
Pick 13: WR Makai Lemon, USC.
The Rams value tough, rugged receivers who are also playmakers. It would almost be unfair to add Lemon to an offense that already includes Puka Nacua and Davante Adams.Pick 29: Blake Miller, OT, Clemson
He’s flying a bit under the radar now, but you’ll hear a lot more about Miller as we go through the draft process. The former high school wrestler made 54 starts at Clemson. He’s a tough, competitive right tackle.https://www.nfl.com/news/daniel-jeremiah-2026-nfl-mock-draft-1-0
wvParticipantStafford: 23/35, 374 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs, 1 sack, 127.6 QB rating.
Against the best defense in the NFC. On the road.MVP stats.
(Drake Maye: 10/21, 86 yards, 0 TDs, 0 INTs, 5 sacks, 58.8 QB rating)Sadly, Sam Darnold was, as good.

wvParticipantI hope Seattle obliterates New England.
Sigh. Its hard to get back to the final 4. The Rams will be one of the favorites next year, along with Chicago, Philly, Green-Bay, Detroit, Seattle, SanFran. So tough to get back. Hard to count on that X-factor — Health.
I’d love to know the plan. Who they let go. Who they target. Probly be Havenstein’s last game as a ram.

wvParticipantAh well. Seattle’s year.
This team will mostly stay together, i would think. So will Seattle.
We look to the draft 🙂

wvParticipantNeed a big day from Davante.
Didnt realize he was so vocal about the Raiders situation, btw.
wvParticipantMike Macdonald on Rams evolving, adapting…

wvParticipantRams are 636-611, and 21 ties in games played where there was some kind of weather.

wvParticipantI would not love either the Browns or the Cards. The Raiders and Bills are in better positions. The Bills are good, and the Raiders are going to get Mendoza to go along with some pretty good pieces.
The Browns and Cards have bad QB situations, and no relieve in sight. And both of those organizations are dysfunctional, and you can’t get a new owner in the draft or FA. I think I’d wait, unless I was jobless right now.
I’d like someone to do a study on cap-space. Like is there a pretty clear relationship between having a lot of cap space and adding more wins the next year? Or not.
Here are the top seven teams with the most cap space for next year, according to one site. The scariest one is the Seahawks :
Titans 93 million
Raiders 81
Chargers 80
Seahawks 71
Jets 66
Commanders 63
Bengals 46
Rams 45 million.w

wvParticipant“…Stafford, 37, had been sidelined for weeks with an aggravated disc, and neither he nor the team was sure if he’d be ready to start the season. He had tried everything: an epidural, hours of medical treatment and even sessions in a red-light therapy chair housed in a trailer the Rams parked at their facility. Time was running out. He was still in pain, but he had to see if he could throw..”
As a person who has dealt with back issues since i was in my 20s — i always wonder about players with back issues. Kevin Carter, Matt Stafford, etc.
Backs are weird. I can imagine a player being able to play a football game, but then not being able to sit on a couch the next day. It would not shock me if some of Stafford’s late season drop-off is due to his back issues. He’s certainly never going to talk about it.
37 years old. I wonder, just how many parts of Stafford hurt at this point in his career and this late in the season. Back, shoulder, neck, knees, elbows….

Atheist players in the NFL?
——————————-
Yes, there have been several NFL players who have identified as atheists, nonbelievers, or secular, despite the league’s predominantly religious culture. While many players are openly religious, some have publicly expressed views outside of traditional faith, with former Houston Texans running back Arian Foster being one of the most prominent examples.
Notable former players and instances include:Arian Foster: The former Texans running back openly discussed being an atheist in 2015.
Pat Tillman: The former Arizona Cardinal who left the NFL to join the military was identified as an atheist.
Robert Smith: Former Minnesota Vikings running back who stated in 2006 that he did not believe in God.
Chris Kluwe: Former Vikings punter who has spoken at atheist conferences.
Josh Rosen: Former NFL quarterback who has been discussed as a non-religious, humanitarian-focused player. These players often operate in an environment where pregame prayers and public expressions of faith are common, making public atheism rare but present in the league.

wvParticipantNice summary of some stuff.

wvParticipantIt would make my day to see somebody do a Bo Jackson/Brian Bosworth on Ernest Jones tomorrow.
I dunno what happened with Jones, but I do not want to watch that guy get his revenge.
Yeah, Ernest and Cooper Kupp both seem pretty hurt/bitter about the trades.
The downside to buying into the whole ‘family’ thing etc, and so forth. Coach may call you ‘family’ and treat you that way — but at the end of the year, you are still a piece of meat in the NFL. In a way.
