if they can bring back littleton, i think it’s worth it. i would not bring fowler back.

they need to upgrade on brockers. they need edge rushers. i don’t think it’s possible to do it in one offseason.

he finished first in pass attempts. and i think it’s worth noting that tannehill, jackson, and brees who finished top three in passer rating ranked 29th, 26th, and 27th in attempts. tannehill only started 10 games, but still would have finished 26th approximately on per game average i think. brees started 11 and would have still been around the twenties on per game average.

just to look a little further.

the top five teams in pass attempts per game.
    1. atlanta
    2. carolina
    3. los angeles rams
    4. tampa bay
    5. new england

i didn’t look at the passer ratings of the team as a whole. just the qbs who started the majority of games for those teams.

    1. matt ryan – 92.1 (14th)
    2. kyle allen – 80.0 (30th)
    3. jared goff – 86.5 (22nd)
    4. jameis winston – 84.3 (26th)
    5. tom brady – 88.0 (18th)

on the flip side. from 32 – 28. the teams with the lowest pass attempts per game.

    32. baltimore – lamar jackson 113.3 (third)
    31. tennessee – ryan tannehill 117.5 (first)
    30. minnesota – kirk cousins 107.4 (fourth)
    29. san francisco – jimmy garoppolo 102.0 (eighth)
    28. washington – case keenum 91.3 (fifteenth)

brees who finished second in passer rating at 116.3 – saints finished thirteenth in pass attemps per game.

mahomes was seventh with 105.3. his team finished fifteenth in pass attempts per game.

rams gotta find some balance back in their offense.

if the rams can fix the running game and the oline. i don’t see why goff’s passer rating can’t shoot back up the rankings.

    well.

    https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2019/passing.htm

    some interesting things.

he finished first in pass attempts. and i think it’s worth noting that tannehill, jackson, and brees who finished top three in passer rating ranked 29th, 26th, and 27th in attempts. tannehill only started 10 games, but still would have finished 26th approximately on per game average i think. brees started 11 and would have still been around the twenties on per game average.

    he finished fourteenth in ypa.

finally despite being first in attempts and playing behind a revolving door at oline he still ranked third in sack percentage behind brees and mahomes. i think that’s a pretty encouraging stat actually.

i think the long term prospects of goff are still very good.

How come some offensive genius doesn’t figure out how to use two pass-catching TE’s on the field at the same time? Why cant we see Everett and Higbee and Kupp and Woods and Cooks on the field at the same time?

wasn’t the washington offense under mcvay a 2 te offense?

that’s what i’d like to see.

    https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/was/2016.htm

they had reed and davis that year. both receiving threats.

i feel like mcvay should have been exploiting this more.

the rams finished with a winning record.

    that can’t be discounted.

and they’re close. they just need to rebuild the oline. and it’s not like it’s in tatters. they have some young pieces to work with. my main concern is left tackle. even if whit comes back.

and they need to rebuild the front seven. they need edge rushers and a defensive end to replace brock. but again. they may already have some of those pieces already in place. plus they have the most dominant defensive player in recent history to build around so that ain’t too bad.

offensive line needs to get fixed. maybe most of the parts are already in place. and just need seasoning.

front seven needs new talent. especially edge rush. but also defensive line.

goff needs to get better. a lot better. i think he will though.

That article actually thinks it’s viable to talk about Rams possibly trading Donald.

yeah. trading away the best player in the nfl.

    that’s just a dumb idea.

are they pretty much tied to gurley until 2022?

but really the oline needs to get fixed.

    PFF LA Rams@PFF_Rams
#LARams Tyler Higbee has been a completely different animal this year

His 4th season is the highest-graded of his career in Offense and Receiving. His receiving grade is 10th in the league among all WR/TE

And he’s been the highest-graded Ram on offense in back-to-back weeks

highest graded in back to back games.

yikes. unfortunately, i think that says more about the state of the rams’ offense than it says about higbee.

he has looked pretty good. but he shouldn’t be the highest graded player on this offense.

    Rams Wire@TheRamsWire
Eric Weddle says Taylor Rapp is “lightyears ahead of most rookies”

“Anytime I say something to him or relay something to him, even in the middle of the game, he’s on top of it the next series,” Weddle added. “He’s been not only one of the best rookies, but over the last 10 games, one of the best safeties out there. His tackling ability, his covering, his playmaking. Could’ve had three or four picks if he could catch, but those times will come. The sky’s the limit for him, I’m just happy that I can share the field with him and help him as much as I can.”

and he doesn’t turn 22 until next week.

young and full of potential. it’ll be a treat to see him develop. can’t wait until jj comes back healthy next year too.

I find it hard to believe the Rams OLine has fixed itself. I am a doubter.

i’m not totally convinced either although i will say there’s potential.

that’s what gives me hope. how young a lot of these key guys are. goff. the oline…

except for whit. he’s old. still not confident about how they replace him.

    defense and running game.

goff played well. one of those ints was a throw away.

want to see them finish the season strong.

With the change in approach, Goff’s time to throw has seen a shift. In 2018, Goff’s average time to throw was 2.95 seconds, which ranked sixth in the league according to Next Gen Stats. Goff’s average time to throw has dropped to a 20th-ranked 2.77 seconds this season. However, Goff experienced a fourth-ranked 25.2% pressure rate in 2018 despite his high time to throw, whereas his lower time to throw in 2019 has been paired with a 21st-ranked 29.9% pressure rate (subscription required). In other words, Goff isn’t holding the ball as long this season, but he’s being pressured far more often.

    well there ya go.

i guess it woulda helped to read.

ok. so if i’m reading this correctly. the next gen stats that is. he has the fifth highest expected completion percentage at 67.1% meaning on average his passes are low risk passes. however, he is only completing 62.5% of his passes indicating that he is performing below expectations? that would be third worst just ahead of rosen and haskins.

he does rank 22nd in terms of time to throw and being pressured more often. so that explains at least part of it. but like the article says. goff is not good at throwing under pressure. how much of that can be improved on?

his lcad is pretty high. i’m not sure, but i think it means he on average throws downfield more than most qbs?

    actually i think that’s iay.

still. his expected completion percentage was very high.

i think his receivers have let him down a little this season.

    looking at those stats.

his lcad is pretty high. i’m not sure, but i think it means he on average throws downfield more than most qbs? someone else would know more. also his expected completion percentage is 67. seems like his receivers are dropping passes they should be catching which would match what i’ve seen on the field.

    no average though.

i would also like to know what percentage of dropbacks he’s under pressure compared to other starting qbs.

Some of Goff’s problems are byproducts of factors outside of his control. He’s had an average of 2.76 seconds to throw per pass attempt this year, compared with 2.95 in 2018 and 2.93 in 2017, according to NFL Next Gen Stats.

what i would like to know is what is the league average?

Well, I am beginning to think of them as sure things, myself.

i’ll say that i like what i’ve seen so far.

but they’ve got 9 games starting experience between the two of them.

i wanna see how they do these last four games.

edwards and evans are far from a sure thing.

and it could get real ugly if whit falls off a cliff which is what it’s looking like right now.

and i wouldn’t necessarily count on noteboom just stepping right in at left tackle. not after major knee surgery.

i just want to see the rams finish out this season strong.

not even really considering playoffs at this point. if it happens, great. but i really just want to see something that will give me hope for next season.

good win. let’s see how the oline holds up over the next four games though.

    mmm…

this is just a guess mind you.

and i don’t know enough about football to really say this with much conviction.

but my guess is that defenses are also figuring goff out a little bit and taking some things away from him. and it’s gonna be up to goff to see if he can adjust or not.

and that’s not to discount the other things. the oline and gurley are also reasons. but i think some of it lies with goff as well.

but as i’ve said many times. i think goff has the ability to adjust. i really do. his mental makeup is top notch.

I’m usually not the kind of fan who goes ballistic after a loss and pounds the table for a complete rebuild.

But that’s how I felt after the first half. I was almost numb by the end of the game, and couldn’t even watch the last minute or so after Kupp drop-tipped the pass for a Ravens’ interception.

After some time to calm down, reflect, burn off some of the alcohol, do some Zazen . . . I can see much more clearly now:

Tear this #$@&%*! down you #$@&%*! I’m NOT PUTTING UP with this #$@&%*! any #$@&%*! MORE this #$@&%*! YEAR or next #$@&%*! YEAR!!! You #$@&%*! #$@&%*!?#$@&%*!!!

it sucked. i was anticipating a regression this season. i just knew things couldn’t go like they had been the past 2 years.

they’re still above 0.500, but it sure doesn’t feel that way. it feels like it did the past 15 years.

but i’m also willing to see this until the end of the season. i don’t think they need to tear the whole thing apart. they need to get the oline and the running game situated. maybe most of those parts are already in place and just need some development. i don’t know. this will be a crucial offseason.

the defense. i don’t think it’s as bad as it looked last night. this was an all-time running game they went against. i really believe that. greg roman. that’s what he does. he develops high powered running offenses. and he had ingram and jackson to work with. and they could very well break a 40 year old record for rushing yards in a season by a single team.

still. the defense needs a pass rusher outside of aaron donald. and they’re gonna need to find a way to replace littleton…

    ok… i’m starting to feel sick now…

yes. i have a hard time believing bortles is a better qb than kaepernick.

and i do admire him for standing up for injustice.

but then why did he sign a deal with nike? or will he protest the injustices done by nike?
