InvaderRamModeratorRG3, the legend
foles, ???
Jeff George.
trading for rgiii would have to be the most hilarious trade in the history of the nfl.
i think i’d do it just for the laughs.

InvaderRamModeratorother trade possibilities
robert griffin iii (ahahahahahahaha!!!!)
nick foles (also coming off an injury)
jay cutler (a bit on the older side i would think)
InvaderRamModeratorlocker is intriguing but like ag says he’s inconsistent. and he’s coming off shoulder surgery.
i guess i just don’t see any long-term solution. or solution i like better than bradford. i see another shaun hill coming.
i wonder what trade possibilities there are. glennon was mentioned earlier. i want a younger prospect with some upside. again locker fits that category but he’s coming off major surgery.
InvaderRamModeratorummmmm…
….
reality and then depression sink in…
InvaderRamModeratorperhaps i’m being too harsh on kendricks. but i feel like they could do better. he’s been solid but not spectacular. just thinking of ways to upgrade the offense. i personally would target offensive line and tight end as positions to upgrade. assuming quick comes back healthy and they are able to bring britt back.
well. besides quarterback of course.

InvaderRamModeratorno i don’t think they should count on that.
but. they shouldn’t draft a pure center. draft someone who can play multiple positions.
InvaderRamModeratori believe lance kendricks is a free agent. might be time for an upgrade. i haven’t been too thrilled with him thus far.
January 3, 2015 at 4:08 am in reply to: who are the best 6 OLs this year & how were they built? #15404
InvaderRamModeratori was really hoping jones would just grab that center position. maybe he still can.
InvaderRamModeratormaxx williams in the second round?
InvaderRamModeratorcan’t find anyone with 11″ hands. but wilson came from a pro-style offense and has 10 1/4″ hands!
logan thomas has 10 7/8″ hands. but i think he was in a spread offense.
ha!

InvaderRamModeratoror they could draft ol in the second round and another in the later rounds. there should be plenty of talent left in the second round to choose from.

InvaderRamModeratorrams so far.
robinson – high 1st round
saffold – high 2nd round
wells – fa
joseph – fa
barksdale – waiversi could see them replacing wells and joseph with potentially a 1st rounder and a lower round pick.
personally i think it makes sense given the strength of this year’s draft. i don’t know what the fa market looks like. but the rams seem to be able to spot ol talent in the draft.
InvaderRamModeratoryeah. at first glance there doesn’t seem to be a russell wilson type guy in this draft.
i mean he didn’t just play in a pro-style offense. he dominated in a pro-style offense.
he averaged 10.3 yards per attempt and threw 33 touchdowns on just 309 attempts and had a 72.8% completion rate.
domination.
InvaderRamModeratorI think taking Petty at No. 10 would certainly be a risky pick. Maybe a trade down to pick up an extra pick, but the dilemma with Petty is getting to be pretty common given the nature of the college game these days. Quarterbacks have always had to be taught to play the game “the NFL way” coming out of college, but never more than now. The differences between the college game and the pro game have never been greater overall than they are now. Teams not only have to evaluate the quarterback on a physical level, but now have to determine what their capacity for learning a very different game is going to be. I think the NFL is going to have to consider a developmental league to develop their quarterbacks or they are going to have to make the adjustments in their offensive systems to accommodate the skill sets that the college quarterbacks bring with them to the league. The number of college programs that still utilize anything resembling a pro style system is rapidly shrinking and those quarterbacks are in shorter and shorter supply.
well this is a good point. what qbs coming out for the draft are coming from a more pro-style offense?
someone correct me if i’m wrong but i believe russell wilson came from a pro-style offense at wisconsin. that must have made a huge difference in his transition to the nfl. maybe the rams should be looking more in that direction.

InvaderRamModeratorhaha!
can’t wait for the combine! just waiting for that 37″ armed quarterback with 11″ hands!
draft him!
InvaderRamModeratorwell i wouldn’t be in favor of drafting hundley in the first round either. i’m just not in favor of drafting any qb at #10 unless mariota somehow falls down to that spot.

InvaderRamModeratorYou can’t call Bradford injury prone. Not if you believe in “The Gambler’s Fallacy”. I don’t exactly believe it myself, but the proof of that will not fit the margins of this post. For Bradford you can say it is true.
Bradford is your probably you best play, if for no other reason than it is your only play to field a QB cabable of winning a Superbowl. imo But, you don’t have to go all in on the salary. You can add protection by finding the next best thing at QB and getting insurance on Bradford’s salary.
Bringing back Bradford is the definition of sanity.
i’m not sure that applies to bradford. i think he is injury prone.
however. i agree that the rams best shot at winning next year is bringing bradford back. because while it’s only a small chance that bradford stays healthy next year. there’s still a chance. and if he’s healthy, i’m almost positive the rams have a winning season.
if, however, they have to play a new quarterback, i’m almost positive they have a losing season. it’ll be almost like starting from scratch, especially if he’s a rookie.
i think that makes sense. they’re better off drafting a rookie and hoping bradford can stay healthy for a season or two and then developing that quarterback in the meantime.

InvaderRamModeratorwhile i’m all in favor of drafting a quarterback this year, petty seems like the very definition of a reach pick at #10. everything i read has him as a third round pick.
i’d rather trade down or pick a quarterback later in the draft. i’m personally in favor of drafting brett hundley. if he comes out. in the second round.
December 29, 2014 at 10:51 pm in reply to: Rams currently scheduled to pick 10th in NFL draft #14990
InvaderRamModeratorwonder what the chances are that the rams will be able to trade down. lots of good offensive linemen to choose from.
hmmm… maxx williams intrigues me as well…
InvaderRamModeratorwell it makes sense. because bradford is the best option for 2015. i mean who else could come in next year with his kind of talent and knowledge of this offense. it’d be impossible.
but yeah. beyond 2015. they have to find another quarterback.
i also think changing coordinators on either side is not the answer. i think blame on that side is almost always overblown. and in fact it can become a detriment when you keep changing the scheme.
the offense has had stability in terms of scheme but has suffered some horrible injuries. the main one being at quarterback. a healthy bradford this season would have allowed schotty to expand the offense. instead they had to start over with a journeyman qb. and a quarterback with no professional games under his belt.
the defense has tons of talent, but they’ve changed coordinators every single year. so the inconsistency isn’t all that surprising to me. second year in the same system with all that youth and talent? they just need a leader or leaders to step up and get this unit to perform week in and week out.
InvaderRamModeratora couple things.
the rams do have the ability to beat seattle. and in fact beat them at home earier in the season. they beat denver as well.
they’re just inconsistent. i think most of us realize this. and the optimism on the board i don’t think is necessarily being delusional. but part of just being a fan.
another thing. seattle is almost impossible to beat on the road. they’ve lost 2 games at home in the last 2 years. so it’s not just the rams who get beat badly at seattle.
arizona? they lost 19-3 at seattle this year. which is worse than the 20-6 beating that st. louis got. they then went to arizona and beat them worse than even that. 35-6. rams actually tied the series 1-1 this year.
i understand the frustration. and taking the season as a whole. the inconsistency of this team is certainly maddening.
but not without hope. i don’t think the disparity is as big as some people would like to believe. the rams are close. i really believe that. and i don’t think it’s blind optimism.

InvaderRamModeratorIf Cameron Erving shows well at the Combine, I could see them trading down a lil bit and taking him at Center in the 1st and then going BPA in the 2nd… maybe a QB…then going OG in the 3rd.
If Hundley falls out of the 1st round, I’d be tickled pink to pick him up in the 2nd… that presumes he comes out. I think he’ll stay and learn and allow his stock to rise…although there aren’t very many QBs in this draft right now…
i’m intrigued by brett hundley. i think he ends up going in the bottom of the first round.
pretty sure he is leaving. i think his own coach mora confirmed as much.
InvaderRamModeratorhe very well could drop to the rams.
i don’t see washington taking him at all. the jets? it’s a possibility. the titans i think stick with mettenberger. no other team in the top 9 has a quarterback need. maybe somebody trades up. but with his character concerns, is a team going to trade up to draft him? doubtful. but if they do, i hope it’s with the rams.
InvaderRamModeratori’m actually for trading down and drafting a guy like erving.
i see him being what bruce matthews was to those titans’ lines.
i see him stepping in immediately at center which would go along with your idea of drafting a center with a lower first round pick if you need him to step in immediately. the added benefit of drafting him is that he could potentially slide in at guard and tackle too. that kind of versatility is invaluable in the modern nfl and makes him more than worthy of a first round pick.
i don’t think you start two rookies. my hope is that barrett jones can finally step in at guard. drafting another linemen lower would be with the idea that he gets a year or two to develop.

InvaderRamModeratori don’t know how i would feel about that.
it’s hard for me to forget about those rape charges. it sticks in my mind even though there’s the chance that he is innocent.
so even if he proves to be the next ben roethlisberger, i can’t help but feel that this guy is a huge tool. and that would be the upside. the downside is that the rams would be drafting a rapist.
InvaderRamModeratori don’t agree that it’s easy to fix an ol. like ag said. if it was easy, the rams would have done that by now.
i do agree that there are different ways of developing an offensive line.
as far as drafting one high, i think this happens to be the year that drafting one in the first round just makes sense. it’s supposed to be a strong year for the offensive line. there is no qb available beside mariota who will be worth drafting in the first round. no cornerbacks really that seem to be upper first round caliber. there’s landon collins i suppose at safety. maybe receiver. but i think 2014 was the year to draft a receiver. not 2015.
at this point. offensive line in the first round just makes sense. it’s a position of strength in the draft that would fill a huge need.
InvaderRamModeratori agree. great play by dl. but bone headed decision to even put the ball there. it was a horrible throw.
InvaderRamModeratorwell. yes. i have to agree that they’ve improved. i guess the question should be have they improved enough?
i think his work has warranted another year. the only thing we can do is see how they play next year.
but if for whatever reason fisher is gone after next year. whoever is next in line? this will be a very hot position for coaches. i can see a lot of head coaching candidates salivating at the chance to coach this team.
something i don’t think could have been said when fisher took over.

InvaderRamModeratorej gaines has been good too. great rookie class. let’s hope they can continue to get better.
InvaderRamModeratorput off watching highlights of this game cuz it just hurt too much. but i just saw a clip on nfl network.
depending on the angle it actually looks like odell starts pulling ogletree’s mask BEFORE they go out of bounds dragging him out of bounds.
of course i could be biased.
