InvaderRamModeratorI blame Fisher. He should have gone it instead of attempting the last FG. I think it was that big of a mistake. I am not going to hammer this, but I had to say it.
i agree with that. i also don’t think he or boras were aggressive enough on offense although that might have to do something with goff starting his first game.
but i also blame penalties. that lies with players and coaches.
i think the offensive staff has been a colossal failure this season. if fisher stays he better make changes on offense.
InvaderRamModeratorI’m indifferent when it comes to Fisher’s future as the Rams HC. Sometimes me being that way makes me feel like I’m a bad Rams fan. When I see some of the internet hysteria about Fisher, I ask myself why am I not taking up the fire Fisher cause? What’s wrong with me? I still like the Rams just as I’ve always have since the 70s. Therefore, I should probably curse Fisher’s existence, but I don’t. If someone wants to take my Rams Fan membership card away from me I’d understand.
Anyway, if Fisher is fired some names that would interest me to replace him include Kyle Shanahan, Rob Chudzinski, David Shaw and Jim Harbaugh. Although, if I’m Shaw or Harbaugh I would never want to leave my college gig.
haha. no need to curse fisher’s existence.
only his tenure as head coach of the rams!
hahahaha. just joking.
InvaderRamModeratori’m not going to say whether he should be fired or not. but if he was, i’d want josh mcdaniels.
Really? But he’s been a failure everywhere he didn’t have Tom Brady.
Remember how clueless he was as the Rams OC?
Maybe he’s learned a thing or two since then but he wouldn’t be one of my choices.
Although if Fisher was fired, I’m not sure who I would want to replace him. I haven’t been that thrilled with the lists of ‘hot’ coaching prospects I’ve seen.
Maybe if they coaxed Chucky or Cowher out of retirement…
i’m guessing he’s learned from his mistakes.
InvaderRamModeratori’m not going to say whether he should be fired or not. but if he was, i’d want josh mcdaniels.
InvaderRamModeratorjared. listen very closely. that’s the endzone over there. the goal is to get the ball in the endzone.
InvaderRamModeratorhaven’t been this excited since the start of this season.
i just hope all this patience paid off. and i don’t want to be petty, but i hope he’s the best qb to come out of this draft.
That’s funny…I was just thinkin the same thing.
After weeks and weeks of anticipation (remember the old ketchup commercial?) they are gonna pull the cover off our refurbished corvette.
Looking forward to the game and joining in the chat room today…if I can log in this week.
you should definitely be in the chat room. it’s gonna be lotsa fun… or very deflating.
InvaderRamModeratori don’t want to be petty, but i hope he’s the best qb to come out of this draft.
Well we may not be able to tell that for a while.
I am waiting for that future day when someone says “hey remember when we used to do that has he justified the pick thing every game?”
well has he yet? justified the pick?
ha!
InvaderRamModeratorhaven’t been this excited since the start of this season.

November 20, 2016 at 8:59 am in reply to: with Goff starting could things loosen up for Gurley? #59030
InvaderRamModerator“We’re not scaling back our offense, based on what he can operate and understand,” Weinke said. “What we actually can do is add some things that take advantage of his special arm talent. He can make a lot of throws other guys can’t. It creates some opportunities for us to maybe add some things that we haven’t done.”
i’m not so quick to say that it won’t loosen things up. maybe not the first game but by the end of the season.
meanwhile he could have an opportunity to do some damage if they don’t.
November 20, 2016 at 7:54 am in reply to: qb coach Chris Weinke: Goff's skill set is 'off the charts' #59027
InvaderRamModeratorO found it very interesting that Weinke said it was the processing the info that kept him out…I was kind of thinking that because athletically it’s not even close between him and Keenum.
I don’t think he had to do too much work with the 5 step drops…I don’t recall CK taking very many 5 step drops from center, usually if he lined up behind Barnes it was either a handoff or a quick 3 step drop and pass. Throw an extra back in the backfield and it’s a handoff 100% of the time, at least I can’t recall 1 time they had 2 backs in the backfield and passed.
maybe with goff they incorporate more 5 step drops?
also running all the time with 2 backs in the backfield worries me. are they too predictable?
November 19, 2016 at 9:37 am in reply to: informal poll #2 … what do you expect of Goff this game? (Miami) #58983
InvaderRamModeratori expect goff to throw at least one td.
InvaderRamModeratorpretty excited for tomorrow i gotta say.
i thought he shoulda started 2 weeks ago. but hey. it doesn’t matter anymore. 7 games should plenty of reps in his first season. and maybe erring on the side of caution is better when your realize how piss poor the running game has been.
i want him to be better than sam was his rookie year. i want them to hit on this pick like they did with donald and not like they did with robinson.
mostly this season i just want to see him push through the growing pains and stay confident. stay aggressive.
hopefully this is the start of a beautiful backfield partnership. if that can happen, it might not matter too much who’s at receiver.
InvaderRamModeratorexplosions, fiery footballs, and death.
sounds like fun.
i’m just gonna sit back and enjoy this game.
InvaderRamModerator“There are some things that we will expand because of the arm talent, you know, the stuff down the field,” Fisher said. “We have to block better up front and that includes in the run game and protection. We have to make plays down the field, we have to get the ball in the end zone when we have opportunities to help him, and defense has to play better.”
i wonder if this could possibly open things up in the running game if true. and assuming that goff can actually play.
InvaderRamModeratorand that’s not to say there isn’t an element of racism among trump supporters. there is.
————
Theres an element of racism among SOME trump supporters. A FACTION of Trump supporters.
Not ALL Trump supporters. We dont know what the percentages are.w
vyou’re right. i’m not trying to say among all trump supporters. i mean some trump supporters.
this is gonna keep getting uglier.
i just saw this article about a west virginia mayor who resigned after her response to a facebook post comparing michelle obama to an “ape”…
The mayor of Clay, West Virginia, has resigned and another county official is out following their exchange over a racist Facebook post that compared first lady Michelle Obama to an “ape in heels.”
The county employee, Pamela Taylor, worked as director of the Clay County Development Corporation and wrote on Facebook: “It will be so refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified First Lady back in the White House. I’m tired of seeing a (sic) Ape in heels,” according to a screengrab obtained by CNN affiliate WSAZ.
Mayor Beverly Whaling commented on the post saying: “Just made my day Pam,” the screengrab shows.
Clay County Commissioner Greg Fitzwater confirmed to CNN that Whaling resigned, but did not know if Taylor was terminated or resigned her post. But he said that she was no longer working for the county.
CNN has attempted to reach both Whaling and Taylor for comment and have not heard back.
InvaderRamModeratori’m so happy.
…
now i’m nervous.
InvaderRamModeratorI agree alternative energies can offer great promise but the sad fact is they are not economically feasible for the needs of most people. With new discoveries involving battery technology and materials science perhaps that can change. I would prefer to use hydrocarbons for those things that have the best or sole application such as transportation, pharmaceuticals, materials etc.
I don’t see fracking as a danger to the local environment but I do see it as a real threat to future potential fresh water resources if not undertaken correctly.
well that’s what i was getting at by saying the local environment. it’s a real potential threat to fresh water resources. i should have been more specific.
technology is changing all the time. the solar technology we’re using now will be soon obsolete.
materials science is always discovering new ummm materials that will advance solar and battery technology. it’s going to happen.
InvaderRamModeratori think it’s always better to remain a skeptic rather than just dogmatically cling onto an idea.
Those are not the only 2 alternatives.
People who see climate change as man-made see themselves as going with the science, and also lament the damage that the (well-funded) deniers campaign has had in the USA (though nowhere else).
We don’t see it as being “dogmatic.” I do see things like the reps in Congress putting pressure on both the CIA and the Pentagon to “flip” on this, when in fact both the CIA and Pentagon are well aware of the risks c.change poses to the country and the world.
I also see, and heavily count, things like this:
One survey of earth scientists found that while 97 per cent of actively publishing climate scientists agree humans are changing global temperatures, only 47 per cent of economic geologists (those who study geology with a view to its commerical exploitation) concur (pdf). In fact, among all earth scientists, economic geologists are the most sceptical.
yeah. i apologize if that came off too strong.
i was really just trying to point out that there are other reasons beyond just climate change to look for alternative energy sources.
and i also pointed out that man made climate change deniers should also not shut out the possibility that climate change is indeed real.
InvaderRamModeratorok. i’ll be a little more open on the climate change subject if only because i think it’s always better to remain a skeptic rather than just dogmatically cling onto an idea.
but i also think it’s always worthwhile to look into alternative sources of energy. if for no other reason than to provide the coal business with some competition. maybe help keep energy costs down for consumers.
solar technology i think is a good thing. i mean the the real possibility of free energy. electric cars especially in congested metropolitan cities is a good thing where the exhaust can do real damage to the local environment and to the health of those populations. i think fracking can do real damage to the local environment. maybe not the climate but again the local environment. likewise i worry about pesticides.
and also climate deniers should always be open to the idea of man made climate change. it’s never good to just shut out ideas completely. well obviously some ideas aren’t open for debate, but this issue seems important and complex enough that it shouldn’t just be closed and shut.

InvaderRamModeratorit was 2 seizures. his brother had posted about it on facebook apparently. fisher says it’s highly unlikely it’s connected to the tumor.
i have a hard time believing that.
InvaderRamModeratorgreat video. and then i went to read the comments section. it made me want to crawl into a hole.
yeah. they’re being lied to and manipulated. and they’re not necessarily racist or homophobic or misogynist. they’re just scared.
And many of them ARE racist, homophophic, and/or misogynist.
Look, it’s not a progressive country for the most part, at that level. There are large percentages of all 3 things in the country. And people who feel that way, which candidate were they most likely to vote for?
IMO we don’t make any advances in analysis by downplaying that.

i agree with you. i really do. i hear it everyday actually and it saddens me more than anything. not trying to downplay it.
InvaderRamModeratorgreat video. and then i went to read the comments section. it made me want to crawl into a hole.

InvaderRamModeratora revolution, eh?

InvaderRamModeratorand that’s not to say there isn’t an element of racism among trump supporters. there is. it certainly plays a significant part. misogyny and homophobia. there’s that too.
but i also don’t like how clinton minimized other issues and reduced it down to vote for us or side with racism and misogyny and homophobia.
bernie would not have done that. i truly believe that.

InvaderRamModeratorbnw: Gays attacked for no good reason? There are countless knock out videos of black on white violence
zn: How are those 2 things related?
?
i think he’s saying that there are instances of whites being attacked for no good reason
Yeah, that’s what he’s saying, but how is whites being attacked for no good reason related to gays being attacked for no good reason?
Most of the gays attacked would BE white.
And sexuality is not race.
It purports to offer a “turn the tables” symmetry, but there’s no symmetry and the tables didn’t turn.
If I said women often suffer harassment at work, is it much of a response to say yeah but latinos sometimes get unfairly ticketed for speeding?
my guess is what he’s trying to get at is there isn’t the same empathy from mainstream media from politicians for the working class white people who have been getting screwed over.
and yes one’s sexuality is not the same thing as one’s race. gender. also not the same thing as race.
and one can go back and forth about who’s got it worse. and let me be clear i am neither white nor working class nor gay. i’m a heterosexual white collar asian for whatever that’s worth.
but you have multiple groups who are continually getting screwed over. the working class, women, minorities… everyone wants to be heard. no one gets heard. and this is the result.
i think to a certain extent the white working class HAS been forgotten. we get for example shows trying to talk about the struggles of being a woman. being gay. transgender even. black.
but no shows about the struggles of the working class. there used to be. like roseanne for example.
and then you’re being told hey get with us we’re fighting for gender equality, rights for the lgbt community, minorities. and you’re thinking hey. my life is getting shittier and shittier. and you have this 2 party system. where these groups are being represented but you aren’t. and here comes this dude saying hey i’ll fight for you guys. it sucks. it sucks that it’s come to this.
me personally? it’s not going to happen. they think they’re going to be heard. but they’re not. and i hope. that the dems or someone further to the left comes along and says hey dudes. we hear your pain. come join us.
i thought it’d be bernie, but the dems screwed him over. and trump won.
now it’s almost a collective fuck you. it’s like hey now someone can give a shit about us.
i don’t agree with it. but i think i understand it.
InvaderRamModeratorGays attacked for no good reason? There are countless knock out videos of black on white violence
How are those 2 things related?
?
i think he’s saying that there are instances of whites being attacked for no good reason.
does it happen? i know of instances where that has happened.
i’m not saying i agree with him. i don’t think one means that the other is ok.
i can’t speak for what it is like growing up as a working class white man. i also can’t speak to how it is growing up as a gay man.
i just know that there are worldviews so different from one another, i have no idea how you come to any compromise.
i blame it on an increasing disparity in wealth distribution. eliminate that and you see some of these problems disappear. that’s what i suspect anyway. when your security is threatened people start blaming the others. out of fear or whatever. i know it’s not that simple but it’s part of the problem. i think the problems lie MOSTLY upstairs and not down here.

InvaderRamModeratorthey might be fools, but i think we’ll all look like even bigger fools four years down the road.
Possibly, but I doubt it.
well strap in cuz we’re about to find out.
InvaderRamModeratorthey might be fools, but i think we’ll all look like even bigger fools four years down the road.
InvaderRamModeratori would also add, the rams are not going to fix the running game, and the opponents won’t be as horrible as the jets.
InvaderRamModeratorI think that starting Goff isn’t about winning THIS year. If you honestly think you can make the playoffs, stay with Case. If not–make the switch.
this.
