ZooeyModeratorNot ignoring you, Jack, but I haven’t watched any college football in two years, I don’t think, and I literally have nothing to contribute to a discussion of the draft, apart from comments about what the Rams need.

ZooeyModeratorAlthough I often see fans of the show describe it as their least favourite of the 5 seasons, season 2 is where I was became obsessed with The Wire. Season one hooked me for sure, but the change of direction in season 2 caught me off guard in a good way. The characters and storylines are what always keep me watching and now rewatching.
I intend to watch all of it.
It has been called the best TV series ever, and even if I don’t end up agreeing with that final assessment, as far as watching TV goes, I am pretty confident I won’t end up feeling like I completely wasted my time.
ZooeyModeratorI finished Season 1 (for the first time) about a month ago.
I will start the second season in June, I think. It’s a really good show, though I have to say that I haven’t seen anything surprising or revelatory.
ZooeyModeratorA woman is raped by a football player. She tesifies against him and lives in isolation in the freshman dorm. One night, there is knock on her door. She opens it, and another football player fills it. “Hello,” he says. “My name is Irv Pankey, and I believe everything you say.” 1/

ZooeyModeratorI’m reading Hickel’s Less is More right now, and it’s excellent. His The Divide is as well. Must-reads, both. I’m roughly 40% of the way through. He deals with Climate Change, ecological destruction overall, global inequality, and the history of capitalism — and it’s very accessible, comprehensive, and concise. Will likely start a thread on it once I’ve finished. Reading it via my public library/ebook.
You’ve been gone awhile. Are you alright? There was something I posted a week or two ago that I was hoping you would chime in on, but I don’t have the slightest idea what it was now.
I saw this post last night, and I thought this Hickel book which I’d never heard of sounded interesting. This morning, I open Twitter, and John Hickel, author of Less is More is under my recommendations of people to follow. I guess the internet just flat out reads minds now.

ZooeyModeratorTHREAD. Yesterday the New York Times reached a new ethical low in its reporting on crime. The paper allowed a reporter to use the emotional Brooklyn subway shooting to spread pro-cop misinformation. I try my best to explain below what happened in detail.

Not in Palestine, or Saudi Arabia, or Yemen, or Turkey, though.

ZooeyModeratorI thought Mathieu was a safety.
If they see him as a nickle…that’s actually good news. That means they are confident in Rochell as CB2. Very confident.

ZooeyModeratori wouldn’t do this deal. if it’s even true.
Yeah it might be a bit much.
I think you have to look at how he played last season. If he played well his performance shouldn’t drop off that much the following season. Some CBs continue to play at a high level well into their 30s – Aeneas Williams, Robert Sherman, etc.
And who can forget Robert Sherman’s work on Mary Poppins when he was almost 40.
ZooeyModeratorYou know what’s funny?
I mean, first class comedy?
Seattle cut Bobby Wagner for cap reasons, and the Rams – Reigning Super Bowl Champs – signed him.
That’s hilarious.
ZooeyModeratorJ𝒾𝓂 𝐸𝓋𝑒𝓇𝑒𝓉𝓉@Jim_EverettLBs Wagner & Jones in the middle? The @RamsNFL just significantly changed their defensive strategy. #MiddlePressures #RunStoppers #PowerAndSpeed….me: Both Miller and Wagner are great veteran leaders who won super bowls before the Rams, but beyond that they’re obviously very different animals. Miller has a great outside rush & BW has great instincts as an inside run defender & is good in coverage..IMO the defense is 2 different things w/ 1 or the other. If it means anything at all, it means that the Rams take the 49ers seriously.
And the Titans. Etc.
ZooeyModeratorI’d rather have Miller than Wagner, too. I would have preferred Clowney to Wagner. Jones looks like an emerging stud in the middle in his own right, and right now, the Rams are counting on Justin Hollins to bring heat, and maybe he will, but that seems like a long shot.
Trade some 2027 picks for Robert Quinn.
ZooeyModeratorWell, Snyder is one of the piggiest of all the pigs, so let me just say, “Adios.”
ZooeyModeratoryeah. i agree. and if they can find a legit stud pass rusher (easy of course right? haha), this defense would be spectacular. like all-time i’m thinking… if they can find a legit stud pass rusher to pair with donald.
I also agree with everything that has been said here.
I will add that Wagner/Jones is turns the Rams defensive weakness into a significant strength. And while a legit stud pass rusher would make this defense spectacular, I don’t think they “need” one to be a top tier defense. A decent guy will probably do.
I think their biggest need now is CB and secondary depth.
