znModeratorThe Rams should absolutely strongly consider tagging-and-trading one of Dante Fowler Jr. or Cory Littleton (shoutout @camdasilva for the good suggestion).
If you can scoop a 3rd-rounder in the process (basically getting your comp a year early), that's a big win. https://t.co/QKOSc9Skvd

I understand disaffected voters because I once was one.
As a waitress, Iād watch pundits on TV talk about how we didnāt need to improve the ACA much when almost no one I knew could afford insurance. Or theyād talk about how great the economy was when everyone I knew struggled.
And while folks on TV went on about how we donāt need substantive change in America because things āarenāt that bad,ā I couldnāt help but feel lied to.
Mountains of student debt.
Friends working multiple jobs just to afford rent.
Not one person I worked with had insurance. There will always be people who make the case against transformative change.
But today our generationās prospects are worse off than our parentsā. Today people are dying bc they canāt afford insulin. Today the for-profit caging of people is normal.
I, for one, choose change.

The crazy thing about all these QB’s that hit the FA market and the top QB draft prospects, I’m not sure there aren’t more QB’s than teams that need QB’s. It’ll be interesting to see how that dynamic shapes the $$$ end of things.Howard Balzer@HBalzer721
Exactly. Iāve likened it to a game of musical chairs, and when the āmusicā stops, there could be some QBs without chairs, or at least attractive chairs. Itās why Eli decided not to play the game.Sosa K@QBsMVP
A successful offseason for me is fixing/re-tooling the OL. Barring anything drastic, I’m quite certain the defense is going to be lackluster (knowing what we know now). But the key to getting back on track is the OL.In other words: I’m interested in almost every available OL.
Rich Hammond@Rich_Hammond
I’m big on Cory Littleton. But in a capped league, if a guy is going to get overpaid on the free-agent market, sometimes you have to know when to hold ’em and know when to fold ’em. This is a tough one.

So many act like if the Players turn down the proposed CBA there will be Armageddon: no more negotiations, lockouts, strikes, etc. We are a year away from expiration, 20 months away from missed games. Owners want labor peace and 17 games; they need the Players to get it. Please.March 2, 2020 at 7:53 pm in reply to: Washington Post: Sanders a risk… the media hates Bernie thread #111854

COMBINE TAKEAWAYS
To wrap up the combineāand we had some big winners in Indy (Alabama WR Henry Ruggs, Wisconsin RB Jonathan Taylor, Clemson LB Isaiah Simmons, Iowa OT Tristan Wirfs, Louisville OT Mekhi Becton)āI wanted to give you a good look at how the guys in the building with the stopwatches around their necks saw the week.
So I sent out a bunch of texts asking for guysā biggest takeaways from Indy, be it from the field at Lucas Oil Stadium or elsewhere. Hereās what I got back.
AFC exec: āTo me one story coming out is the athleticism and depth of tackles. You got top tier guys like Wirfs, [Jedrick] Wills, Becton, [Andrew] Thomas. Then [Ezra] Cleveland, and another tier of size and athletic ability. Some of these tackles are ready to go now, and play at a high level. Overall, best tackle class in quite a while in my opinion.ā
NFC exec: āThe thing that jumped out is the depth at WR. Thereās more depth at OL than I thought, and corner depth may be 3ā4 rounds deep. Schedule was strange and need to look at difference in results compared to years past to understand, not a lot of free agent news [because] everyone was waiting on CBA info and very few projected numbers thrown around.ā
AFC GM: āThe [inside linebacker] group has some speed in it. [Justin] Herbert looked good, [Jake] Fromm not so much. The RB group looked slow.ā
NFC exec: LBs were fast, also DTs. Obviously, the OTs showed out. I didnāt meet too much on [free agents] due to the new schedule, heard some big numbers though.ā
AFC exec: āImpressive tackle classāthe size and athleticism of some these guys were off the charts. WR class was as advertised. Corners ran slower than expected. Havenāt seen all the official times yet, but the first times werenāt good for some guys.ā
AFC GM: āMy biggest takeaway is a lot of agents are shooting for the moon on average players. I think some are gonna be surprised at what their market truly is.ā
AFC exec: āEdge class isnāt very deep, but interior pass rushers are more important and itās a good class. More obvious, but itās a rare free agent period, since itās a starter market. Backups are trying to get signed ahead of it. Wide receiver is historically deep. Should be able to get a starter in round 3.ā
NFC exec: āGood corner class. Lots of big guys that ran fast. Think almost 20 guys 4.49 or faster.ā
AFC scouting director: āOne thing that stands out is hearing some teamsā cap situations affecting their ability to keep some of their FA players.ā
NFC scout: āHerbert looked good. Not much of an opinion on the other QBs that threw though. [Justin] Jefferson impresses me a lot. I think heās a first-rounder, and going to be really good. Taylor had a great week and I think itās not crazy to think he goes round 1. I didnāt think he got enough credit all year and people slept on his speed. Dobbins will have work cut out for him to pass him. And the top of the tackle group is ridiculous. Can see them all going top 15. The interior DL were much better than the edge players. The edge group was about the most unimpressive group Iāve seen since Iāve been going. LBs could all run. Really fast group and itās good to see that because they have to do it. Safeties ran well too and i think thereās some good depth there.ā

Part of Sean McVayās revamping of his Rams staff was creating a renewed sense of urgency around the building. And it sure seems like itās working. To those around McVay, going 9ā7 last year felt like going 4ā12. Which is a pretty good sign for how much higher the bar has been set in LA, as opposed to where the franchise was over the last decade.

znModeratorfrom PFF: Offseason needs for all 32 NFL teams in 2020

LOS ANGELES RAMS: OFFENSIVE LINEMEN THAT CAN GET THE RAMSā LINE BACK TO ITS 2018 FORM
Secondary needs: edge defender, linebacker
The Ramsā offensive line was one of the better units in the league in 2018, and their offense flourished behind it as a result. That all fell apart this past season, with injuries and personnel changes taking a toll on the group. They finished the season 31st in PFFās offensive line rankings, and now, the most consistent player from the line ā Andrew Whitworth ā is set to be a free agent at 38 years old. There isnāt a position on the line that the Rams canāt look to improve on in 2020.They should also look to add some new pieces defensively. Edge defender becomes an area of need with the impending free agency of Dante Fowler Jr., but even if the Rams retain him, they can look to improve the other starting edge slot over Clay Matthews (54.2 overall grade in 2019) and Samson Ebukam (66.7). At linebacker, the Rams should make every effort to re-sign Cory Littleton. Since 2018, his coverage grade of 90.1 trails only Lavonte David and Luke Kuechly among linebackers with 1,000 or more defensive snaps.
znModeratorThat’s good. Worth a read.

The Athletic’s Rich Hammond mentions Rams RT Rob Havenstein as a trade candidate.
Signed to an extension ahead of the 2018 season, Havenstein ended up being a healthy scratch down the stretch last year. The Rams moved forward with Bobby Evans at right tackle. Havenstein made nine starts last year and graded out as Pro Football Focus’ No. 71 tackle out of 81 qualifiers. Not long ago, he was considered one of the better up-and-coming right tackles and a stable piece for L.A. Havenstein turns 28 in May.SOURCE: The Athletic
