Per @PFF   Michael Hoecht had an 89.5 grade on first review, the highest single-game grade of his career by over 15 points. He recorded five pressures, and 2 sacks.

Hoecht was absolutely abusing Charles Cross, the number 9 overall pick in the 2022 draft.

Would really like to start seeing Cobie Durant where David Long is currently playing. Year four of Long and we’re still getting these types of game-changing mistakes.
    .
I would like to congratulate Pete Carroll for his first win on the road against Sean McVay since 2017. Took the Rams being down: Aaron Donald Matthew Stafford Cooper Kupp Allen Robinson The entire OL …but hey, he did it. All that and Seattle won by a whopping 4 points.

Most things are bad for the Rams, but before slinking back into the doom I did want to note this:  @TruMediaSports   early PM numbers show a 52.3% pressure rate vs. SEA, more than double their season average. To me, and from the eye test watching live from SoFi, that’s all effort.
    .
all I’m saying is Hoecht/Donald combo will eventually be fun to watch

163 career games for @RamsNFL LB Bobby Wagner. His first against the Seahawks is also the first time in his Hall of Fame career he’s had multiple sacks and an interception.
    .
150 net yards in the 1Q for the Rams was a new season-high. 52 rushing, 98 through the air, 7.1 yds/play.

    TurfShowTimes@TurfShowTimes
Bobby Wagner has more sacks than Leonard Floyd and more catches than Tyler Higbee.

Nice to see Taylor Rapp playing where he excels — which is in the box. Similar to how Mark Barron was used. Has been effective on the blitz today, just can’t cover downfield whatsoever.

this is only the 3rd time this season that the rams have scored on their first 2 possessions – they won both times when they did it before

Rams place Matthew Stafford on IR in move that could signal end of QB’s season

    Jourdan Rodrigue

The Rams placed quarterback Matthew Stafford on injured reserve with a neck injury, the team announced Saturday. While modern injured reserve rules allow players to return after four games, the 3-8 Rams have just six remaining games and little hope for the playoffs. The move could effectively signal the end of Stafford’s 2022 season.

Here’s what you need to know:

Stafford cleared his second of two stints in the concussion protocol on Friday, but coach Sean McVay said the team was still “gathering information” about a neck injury Stafford sustained in a Week 11 loss to the Saints.

After a hit in that game, Stafford said he felt numbness in his legs, and he was placed in the concussion protocol after leaving the field.

Stafford played in Week 11 just two days after his initial placement in the concussion protocol. The team said Stafford reported concussion symptoms in the days after a Week 9 loss to Tampa Bay. Stafford missed Week 10, and saw a specialist in Pittsburgh as he advanced through the five-step protocol.

McVay has said that any conversation with Stafford about shutting him down for the year would be collaborative and inclusive of medical experts as well as Stafford’s wife, Kelly.

    What they’re saying

“Matthew’s the ultimate competitor,” McVay said Friday. “I think in a lot of instances, the best thing that you can do is protect him from himself. We will always make the best decision that he feels most comfortable with, that we feel most comfortable with.

“I know him. If there’s any inkling that he can play, this guy’s going to want to play. Now, is there a possibility that we say, ‘Hey…the smart thing is to not play you,’ and he could be upset with me, but I think he knows that I have his best interest and we have his best interest (in mind).”

    The big picture

McVay said Friday that he has received no indication from medical experts about Stafford’s neck injury being chronic or long-term. Stafford didn’t throw in the spring and was on a pitch count into training camp for what was described as an “ongoing” elbow issue akin to tendinitis, but multiple people with knowledge of that situation said that Stafford felt great beginning the year. What wasn’t great was the state of the Rams’ offensive line, which gave up 63 hits on Stafford before his Week 11 return, a record in the McVay era, and has featured 11 different combinations through its 11 games.

Who will be Rams’ backup with Stafford out?

John Wolford will get the start against Seattle on Sunday, but Bryce Perkins will be available and could also get some snaps. The Rams signed practice-squad quarterback Case Cookus in November.

What the IR placement means for Stafford’s future

If Stafford is indeed shut down for the season, it’s the right call for his long-term health as the Rams look to 2023. Stafford and McVay are very much tied together professionally, so getting him back and healthy — and with a safe, productive situation around him — seems important for McVay’s immediate future with the Rams.

The Rams activated OLB Daniel Hardy out of the IR window. He had a good week of practice. They activated RB Malcolm Brown and DE TJ Carter from practice squad. They signed OLB Keir Thomas and WR Austin Trammell to the active roster.

rams are currently 7-point home dogs vs seattle. it’s the most points vegas has ever given the rams at home since mcvay has been head coach. second most was 6.0 in 2017 when the rams sat their starters during the last game of the season – niners won 34-13. ugh.

Donald out. Stafford out. Kupp out. Only 1 player from the original OL is playing (Hav).

It’s clear what has happened. The football gods are playing a cruel trick on McVay to punish him. He refused to play starters during the pre-season. In retribution, they made him play a pre-season backup squad during the regular season.

So what we learn again is, don’t F around with the football gods.

No Cam Akers today, he was sick yesterday. Looked like Ty Nsekhe was at least able to practice in a limited capacity.

“In situations like this, you know you’re (going to) figure out who has that dog in ’em, who has that resilience in them. You know who is playing this game for the love of the game, who is playing this game because they want to get better. It’ll show up – you can’t hide it,

especially being where we’re at, unfortunate circumstance. But you can’t hide those aspects of the game when you’re not doing so hot. It’s gonna show up on Sunday, and I know guys are excited.” – Rams QB Bryce Perkins in locker room today.

Another big legal setback for Trump. DC judge rejects his claim of absolute immunity in civil lawsuit alleging his conduct on Jan 6 disenfranchised voters, because disruption of electoral vote as alleged isn’t executive action in defense of the Constitution.

Rams’ mantra this offseason was to “run it back” but here’s the list of players from the Super Bowl roster who will be healthy/active against the Seahawks this weekend: Havenstein, Akers, Jefferson, Hopkins, Sko, Scott, Rapp, Gaines, Flo, Jones, Ramsey …pretty short list.

Cardinals have gone through five different OL configurations. Rams refer to that as “consistency.”

so far in Week 12, there have been 79 games decided by six points or fewer, the most such games through the first 12 weeks all-time.
    .
The two-point conversion was implemented in 1994. This was the first week when multiple games (Jaguars, Chargers) were decided by game-winning points that came on two-point conversions in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter.

I dunno.  Is this the most injured Ram team in the modern era?

    It’s nearest competitor is 2011.
