Let’s say the Rams fire Les Snead, and hire JackPMiller as the new GM, how would you react? Would you love the hire?

I’m fine with it, Jack, but I’d also insist that you be the stadium Half-Time Show coordinator as well.

I agree. Just a shitload of unknowns.

But frankly i’m real glad a new set of eyes and ears and brain-cells is going to do the evaluation. I just dont trust Fisher to do it anymore.

I like the idea of a fresh brain evaluating this team.

Coz, I’m tellin ya — something is wrong with this team. I dunno what.
But SOMETHING is wrong with this team.

I think Snisher has done a poor job of drafting/signing/developing WRs.

The Corporate Media’s Assault on Free Speech: an Interview with Jeffrey St. Clair

    by Mike Whitney

“One might well ask which foreign government had a larger roll in assisting Trump’s victory over Clinton and more to gain: Russia or Israel. Sheldon Adelson spent a reported $25 million in support of Trump and Netanyahu was publicly campaigning for Trump from Tel Aviv.”

    — Jeffrey St. Clair, CounterPunch Editor

Mike Whitney: CounterPunch was listed as one of the 200 websites that, according to the Washington Post, “wittingly or unwittingly published or echoed Russian propaganda”. The shadowy organization that leveled these claims is called PropOrNot, a group of researchers has made every effort to remain anonymous. Rather than wasting our time asking whether or not you are Russian agent (which is too ridiculous to consider) what do you think is driving this group to label and attack the websites on its list?

Jeffrey St. Clair: One can only speculate, since we don’t at this point know who they are and no one would know of their existence at all had it not been for the Washington Post. Even to call them “researchers” may be to inflate their resumés. Mark Ames has tracked down some tweets associated with the PropOrNot accounts that suggest ties to Ukrainian nationalists. But again that’s just speculation until they emerge from the shadows and reveal their identities, a prospect that I don’t think is forthcoming any time soon. In fact, we may need to sue them to finally answer these questions.

As for the Post’s story itself, it was fake news story about fake news, citing fake allegations by fake sources. Hence it will probably win the Pulitzer Prize.

Mike Whitney: How does Russia factor into all of this? Is Washington creating a pretext for an escalation in Syria or Ukraine?

Jeffrey St. Clair: Which Washington? Washington seems divided. FBI vs. CIA. And the Director of National Intelligence versus both. Trump’s election has caused a lot of internal divisions within the establishment to erupt to the surface. Rarely do these kinds of clashes from within what some call the Deep State get fought in public. Of course, there are many bi-partisan reasons to inflate the Russian threat that have nothing much to do with Syria or Ukraine, such as defending big defense contracts, for useless weaponry such as the F-35 and a new generation of nuclear weapons.

Mike Whitney: The Washington Post appears to be incensed by the idea that US elections may have been “hacked” by a foreign government. Do you remember any time in the last 30 or 40 years when the Post was as upset about Washington’s regime change operations which involved the violent toppling of 40 or 50 sovereign governments or the disruptive color-coded revolutions funded by US NGO’s? How would you explain the Post’s selective indignation?

Jeffrey St. Clair: Of course not. The Post and the NYT have supported through their own special brand of propaganda many of those interventions and cover operations. And I don’t think the Post has ever showed the slightest inclination to pursue investigations of instances where countries other than Russia have attempted to sway elections in the US, such as the Saudis and the Israelis. One might well ask which foreign government had a larger roll in assisting Trump’s victory over Clinton and more to gain: Russia or Israel. Sheldon Adelson spent a reported $25 million in support of Trump and Netanyahu was publicly campaigning for Trump from Tel Aviv. The Israeli’s have proven track record of swaying US elections. Go ask Cynthia McKinney. The Russians don’t. Not yet, anyway.

Mike Whitney: After months of closely following the Trump campaign in the lead up to the election, I noticed something quite extraordinary, that is, the MSM had lost its power to influence public attitudes. This was particularly noticeable when the numerous sex allegations were leveled at Trump, but his base of support hardly budged. This suggests to me that the MSM is rapidly losing its ability to control the masses by shaping public perceptions. Do you think PropOrNot could be an attempt by “interested groups” (USG?) to reestablish its monopoly on information by attacking the websites and alternate sources of news that pose the greatest threat to its continued control?

Jeffrey St. Clair: Trump didn’t just touch, he frontally embraced almost every third rail in American politics and not only survived but thrived on it, like some super-villain in a Dark Horse comic. It’s quite remarkable really. The MSM media has been dying for years and Trump’s campaign emphasized just how feeble and politically impotent the Times and the Post, as well as the network and cable news outlets have become, at least for an outlier candidate like Trump. By the way, Bernie Sanders also built his campaign in the face of first media indifference and then hostility. But Bernie wasn’t felled by the media, but through the anti-Democratic structure of the Democratic Primaries and the internal sabotage of the DNC. (See my book Bernie and the Sandernistas for more.) The GOP primary system, by contrast, proved much more open and democratic than the Democrats’s rigged system.

I don’t know enough about PropOrNot to speculate about the site’s origins. It seems pretty amateurish to me. But the government has had a role in setting similar “perception management” operations in the past. Recall the Lincoln Group’s contract with the Bush administration to write and pay for propaganda stories during the Iraq war? One wonders whether something similar might be at work here. There’s a history, as they say. But we don’t know enough yet. The real mystery is why the Washington Post ran with such a flimsy, unsourced story in the first place. How much contact did the Post have with actual individuals at PropOrNot and was there coordination between the Post, PropOrNot and members of congress looking to set up a new HUAC-like inquisition on the alleged Russian peril.

Mike Whitney: Is the First Amendment in danger?

Jeffrey St. Clair: The first Amendment is always under attack. What’s new now is that it is being assaulted by the mainstream media.

Enh. I don’t buy most of this stuff. I see a lot of hyperbole about Fisher. He seems to set some people off.

To me he’s an ordinary story—another good coach whose team didn’t turn the corner and he took the hit.

I really don;t get the hyperbole.

    Sports film clichés

A down and out coach is offered one last shot.[6]

The coach can’t get along with his star player.[6]

Someone doubts the protagonist’s abilities, and is made to believe in them.[6]

The players overcome race relations or gang violence, and are brought together by being a team.[6]

The opposing team is larger, better dressed, better equipped yet end up defeated by the protagonist’s team.[6]

A death or injury provides the main character with the extra incentive to win.[6]

The main character is considered too old to win, yet does.[6]

An emotional speech inspires the protagonists.[6]

Near the end of the movie it will seem that the protagonist’s team has no chance of winning, but they quickly bounce back with little time left.

The protagonist’s team makes a valiant comeback effort only to fall just short at the last second (Puck hits the post, shot rims out, etc.). This is immediately followed by a dramatic montage with tear soaked hugs of players and coaches who are genuinely better off for the experience.

After a supreme achievement on the sports field/court/diamond, the achiever will, for no apparent reason, extend his arm and use his forefinger to point, for an extended period of time, to a team-mate, coach or even someone in the crowd. In many cases, the person being pointed to will, inexplicably, return the gesture.

Harbaugh is a real conundrum. I imagine he’d make them into a winner, which is what we all want, but damn, that guy is such a jerk. One of the ALL-TIME jerks. And sooner or later, he’d cause disruptions and he’d be gone.

    =============
    La Ram
I believe that Fisher will be gone as well. I’ve said before that I felt if the Rams didn’t finish well Fisher would not be back.

Peter King who I like and trust seems to feel the same way, so we’ll see. I’ve asked but did not get a straight answer.

There are some people who have season seats very close to me that are important people in Los Angeles.

They have already told me that they will be offering their remaining tickets for .99. Yes you read that correct, .99.

That is a loud and clear message and trust me the Rams are aware of it.

So what I know about that just contributes to the fact that I disagree with everyone who thinks that winning is not a priority with Stan.

He didn’t just go two years with an out clause for no reason. He knows the Rams must win.

Ramsfsninmd if they hire the right offensive headcoach, and repair the o-line, yes I believe they can compete for a wildcard next year if the qb progresses.

But IMO for them to really make noise in the playoffs they need to blow the offense up.

On offense you got square pegs in round holes, and round pegs in square holes.

Are you a drive blocking team, or a zone blocking team?

Are you a play action team, a reverse ghost action team or a hybrid offense? What will the new HC’s influence be? Will these players fit his scheme?

Will the new coach try and change his system to fit the present players, or want new players? Lots of questions around bringing in a new headcoach.

I have NO idea who the right headcoach would be. None

I like Rob Chudz, but I have no idea how he would be. I know he knows offensive football, but is he a leader of men? I dunno

People are very hard on Stan, but choosing the right headcoach involves a lot of luck.

Somebody who got lucky told me you can do all the due-diligence in the world, and it can all be for nothing.

I don’t think they have started looking. That kind of stuff has a way of getting out.

I believe they have more respect for Fisher than that.

    Thanks.

But I fear that the players just aren’t good, too. How can they have gone 12 games without opening a hole for Gurley? Like…ever? Unless they just lose every battle? Because I have to think they know their blocking assignments. I don’t understand it. It’s not like they have faced the Purple People Eaters every week.

    ————-

Well let us hope that we are wrong and zn is right, and its just a matter of
    getting past ‘the move’.

Cause if we are right and the players just aint that good, they will suck again next year. Cause even if they draft some good OLine players they will still be rookies.

Maybe there is hope in Free Agents. If they spend some money and hit on some solid free agents. Thats all i got.

-The o-line improves. I think the o-line can go from among the worse to at least an average group over the offseason. It’s a possibility. I mean, they were kinda sorta average the year before and it’s the same group of guys so if they can go from middlin’ to terrible they ought to be able to go from terrible to middlin’. Plus, they are certainly going to address the o-line in Free Agency so the personnel should get a little better anyway.

    —————-
Well the Oline is the story of the year. The mystery story.

I predicted about ten wins and a playoff berth in large part because i expected the Oline to be a team strength. What a disaster.

I am an oline skeptic at this point. An oline denier. I am afraid…that i just think…they are not good players.

I’ve been looking at ‘the list’ of sites where ‘fake news’ and ‘russian propaganda’ are supposed to be prevalent. Todays blog was: “Activistpost”

The article i read was from a climate change denial point of view.

Almost all the denial articles read link the climate-change view with ‘globalism’ — ie, an attempt by the powers that be to ‘use’ the climate-change idea to make money and gain power.

btw, James Lovelock, the ‘gaia’ guy, has changed his mind and now thinks climate change is not real. He also thinks robots will rule the world someday.

    link:http://www.activistpost.com/2016/12/global-warming-hustle-finally-falling-apart.html

“…Global warming is one of the Rockefeller Globalists’ chief issues. Manipulating it entails convincing populations that a massive intervention is necessary to stave off the imminent collapse of all life on Earth. Therefore, sovereign nations must be eradicated. Political power and decision-making must flow from above, from “those who are wiser.”

Al Gore is one of their front men….
…Their real agenda is clear: “The only solution to climate change is a global energy-management network. We (the Globalist leaders) are in the best position to manage such a system. We will allocate mandated energy-use levels throughout planet Earth, region by region, nation by nation, and eventually, citizen by citizen.”

    Yes, citizen by citizen.

This is the long-term goal. This is the Globalists’ Holy Grail.
