offensive production that needs to rebound

    Receiving production from Rams RBs

    2017: 842 yards, 6 TDs

    2018: 649 yards, 5 TDs

    2019: 260 yards, 2 TDs

I’m far less worried about replacing Cooks deep threat option and much more about the 70% decline in production from RBs catching the ball out of the backfield. The Rams don’t need Henderson and Akers to be 2017 Todd Gurley catching the ball but they do have to be a legit option.

i wonder how much higbee’s season had to do with those 2019 numbers.

they are clearly comfortable with what they have.

I count Brewer as possible top depth. He has an interesting resume. He seems to be a OG/ROT type.

didn’t realize that he had cancer going into his senior year and was actually undergoing radiation treatments during the season while not missing a game or practice. wow.

he’s got size, length, and athleticism it seems. i’ll be interested to watch him.

overall, they’ve got a lot of youth to work with. so that’s exciting. evans, edwards, and brewer are all going to be in their age 23 season. anchrum will be in his age 22 season.

    problem is 2016.

there’s still a long way to go. all three have had down seasons.

we’ll have a better idea by year 10.

    i don’t know that much.

but i do know he’s big, long, and young.

    so there’s potential at least.

Kupp was the fastest player at the Senior Bowl in 2017.
    .
I think Woods beat 21 mph.

there’s track speed and playing speed. i’d be willing to bet bruce was one of the fastest players on the field despite what he clocked in a 40.

on higbee. yeah. i’m curious to see if he can sustain that late season surge over an entire season. wow. if he could. you’re talking about a 90 catch 1000 yard season with possibly double digit touchdowns. it would also help free up the other guys on offense.

The line that starts this year hopefully finishes it but if there are problems I don’t think we’ll be in trouble nearly as much as last year.

ehhh. well. with most likely no off-season and possibly no preseason, problems could continue for a line that lacks in experience and lacks time together. perhaps moreso than other teams.

no preseason. shorten the regular season. shorten the playoffs.

    that’s what they should do.

i like this pick. sounds like woods and kupp. technician. and i’m not convinced that he can’t be a deep threat.

Here’s why I hold out some hope for the Rams 7th round pick, guard Tremayne Anchrum. First he has the attributes you want and he played at a high level, at tackle no less, for a top team against top competition. As one reports says of him, “Anchrum has the skill set of a tackle-guard tweener, but his body quickness, punch strength and play demeanor are NFL-quality….”

i still hold out hope that anchrum could be the rams’ center of the future. there’s this from clemson’s offensive line coach.

“Tremayne can play several positions,” Clemson offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell said. “And is going to bring an intelligence factor to the Rams. He can play left or right and also has the ability and the knowledge to play center as well.”

so just to get this straight.

projecting 2 years into the future, the rams will have the following olinemen.

    havenstein (28yo – 30 in 2 years)
    noteboom (25yo – 27 in 2 years)
    evans (23yo – 25 in 2 years)
    edwards (23yo – 25 in 2 years)
    allen (25yo – 27 in 2 years)
    corbett (25yo – 27 in 2 years)
    anchrum (22yo – 24 in 2 years)
    brewer (23yo – 25 in 2 years)

    lt – noteboom/evans
    lg – edwards/corbett
    c – allen
    rg – evans/anchrum
    rt – havenstein/evans/brewer

obviously, this doesn’t include any possible future draft picks. but am i missing anything?

i think out of those linemen i am confident in evans, edwards, and havenstein.

i still think there’s a significant possibility that the rams have yet to find their left tackle and center although things can certainly change in 2 years. maybe noteboom and allen become that. maybe they become that very soon. which would be huge. maybe evans becomes that left tackle with anchrum taking a guard spot. maybe you even get a dark horse like brewer taking over the right tackle spot.

I don’t see how you get anybody ready for the NFL without camp. I mean…most rookies aren’t ready to play WITH the full off-season training program.

yeah. not expecting much this season.

i’d like to see some flashes though.

    if there is a season.

although yes. i agree. i’d like to at least see akers have an impact. maybe the position where a rookie is most likely to make an immediate impact.

but again. this is why i’m especially excited to see the defense. maybe nothing comes of it. maybe williams, hoecht, and rozeboom are cut. and lewis never realizes his potential as an edge defender. but it’ll be exciting to find out.

I like how Hoecht looks too. The DT.

hoecht is another guy. a guy with his frame 6’4″ 295 lbs running a 4.65 40 is ridiculous.

    a 7.05 3-cone and a 4.21 shuttle. 33.5″ vert 9’2″ broad.

those numbers compare favorably to aaron donald. and that’s with an additional 10 pounds. explosive. again. maybe not an immediate starter. but could be a contributor and if everything goes well maybe even an eventual replacement for brockers.

and then williams has been talked about a lot already. but again. ridiculous workout numbers. 25 years old so not much room for development physically. but at 280 pounds running a 4.67 40, 4.14 short shuttle, and a 6.77 3-cone. ridiculous. he’s already a physical specimen.

i’ve seen reports of his arms being anywhere from 33.5″ to 34.5″ inches long. 33.5″ is plenty long enough. 35″ vert, 9’7″ broad, and 30 reps on the bench press.

this kind of athleticism. the rams. unless there’s no chance of them contributing. i figure you have to try and find a way for them to make the roster.

Doubt any of these guys make the roster.

Levonta Taylot & Christian Rozeboom I do expect to make the practice squad from the UDFA defense. That is it.

i don’t know. rozeboom seems to have everything you would want except he doesn’t have the fbs pedigree. of course he’s a udfa, so he’s got a tough hill to climb. but i think he. and a couple others have a legitimate chance at making the roster. ok. maybe not starters. but i think they can make the roster.

I like what I read about him.

People have looked into the hands thing. He has natural hands. The drops look like concentration drops, and IMO that’s coachable.

i definitely hope you’re right and i’m wrong. because if he can overcome the hands issue. and if he can become the blocker that he says he’s willing to become. then he’s absolutely what i’ve been wanting and what higbee has become.

the other half comes next year.

and if they can’t re-sign him, then it’s a waste. i hope they find a way to re-sign him.

Why did we draft another TE?

Because Gerald Everett will be a free agent in 2021 and Brycen Hopkins was too good a value for the team to pass up in the fourth round. He’s a good receiver with great athleticism for the position, much like Everett.

With Hopkins on the roster and Tyler Higbee already extended, it’s highly unlikely the Rams keep Everett past this season.

i wanted the rams to draft a tight end. but i don’t know about hopkins. i don’t like what i read about him.

and everett did not need to be re-signed even if the rams didn’t draft a tight end this year.

sorry. just reading about this rozeboom kid. found this interesting. has played against some fbs teams and shined.

Rozeboom had a prolific career with the Jackrabbits and was one of the best defensive players in the FCS for several years. Yet it wasn’t until late in the process when he got an invite to a pro prospect all-star game, the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. And even with impressive showings on tape against FBS opponents (11 tackles vs. Minnesota in 2019 and eight tackles in his collegiate debut against TCU in 2016), a lot of draft sites and analysts are hesitant to label Rozeboom an NFL Draft pick.

no combine and no opportunity to work them out before the draft could have possibly hurt these prospects. reading about him can’t help but think that this guy could be the replacement for littleton. sideline to sideline. seems to have skills in pass coverage. not big. but quick and tough sounds like.

“I’m comfortable on the right side of the line, mostly, right tackle, right guard,” Anchrum said. “But again, I am open to playing any spot on the line.”

wonder if he could play center.

i timed him myself on the short shuttle. i got 4.27 seconds. impressive. very impressive. for what it’s worth i hand timed his 3-cone and got the same time listed on the video – 6.96!

impressive athlete. impressive numbers. i hope football isn’t cancelled this season. what will i do!?

apparently he did have a pro day. didn’t list a 40 time or short shuttle. but supposedly a 35″ vertical and a 6.96 3-cone. i also included an interview which shows some highlights. wants to be a vet one day. what’s not to like?

christian rozeboom. also sticks out to me. high level performer in a lower division of football. that’s three now from the football championship division. i can’t help but think that the inability of teams to do their full level of scouting might have somehow helped the rams in that some of these prospects might have slipped through the cracks??? i don’t know.

anyway. rozeboom did not have a pro day. it was cancelled. but his productions is off the charts.

    in four years.

    475 tackles
    29 tfl
    6 sacks
    8 forced fumbles
    6 fumble recoveries
    16 pbus
    8 interceptions

    just screams playmaker to me.

    measurements are 6’2″ 230lbs.

i’m telling ya. i’m really excited about this defensive draft class. excited about brandon staley. mostly because everything is unknown right now. can’t wait to see how this all unfolds.

right now jefferson is my favorite pick of this draft. but lewis and burgess could easily end up surpassing him when it’s all said and done.

not to mention williams and hoecht. this defense. can’t wait to see how it develops.

Lewis looks a lot like Floyd to me so he seems to be a pick for next year and a replacement for Floyd. I’m not expecting to see much of him this year.

i expect floyd to start. but i also expect to see plenty of lewis in the rotation along with williams. polite should be in the mix as well.

ebukam and okoronkwo have their work cut out for them. neither of them have really impressed me.

I actually kinda like Allen and am rooting for him to be the starting center this year–he’s tough, strong, and moves pretty well. According to PFF he was the 15th best run blocking center. And that’s as a 24 year old with almost no experience.

i’m not the biggest fan. but i certainly won’t root against him.

It would be a nice to have a highly touted prospect on the line, but McVay may be happy to use the same line he did last year.

using the same line the rams used toward the end of the season would be good. the offensive line needs to find cohesiveness. which could be a problem this year with all the uncertainty.

i find myself more interested in the defensive side of this draft. from burgess to lewis to johnston to williams to hoecht. there’s some real athleticism being added to that side. really excited to see what staley comes up with.
