Its too soon to have a complete handle on this, but assuming Von Miller

becomes a wretched cowboy, what can we say at this point about

the Rams weak links or problems/question marks?

Assuming Robert Woods recovers (never a certainty), it looks like the Weaponry is still good.   Woods, Kupp, Higby, Cam Akers, (and that lanky TE who played in the playoffs showed some real promise, under pressure, in the clutch)

Stafford is elite, fierce, and in the pantheon now.

A’shawn Robinson, and Floyd and AD are a formidable threesome.

One would think AD might have another year of prime-play in him.

    Jaylen is Jaylen.

Weakest Unit I would guess….?…..Secondary?   Then….OLine?   Then LBs?

    I’m going to say secondary.

everything else is okay or better imo.  they will pick up somebody in free agency at a reasonable cost that can play linebacker and backup Oline

I think it’s their fan base.

I think a lot of their fans are really skeptical of their ability to draft players, and to put together another run. The same fan base that was still glowing a couple of days ago.

I think there are people – and I’m not pointing any fingers at anyone who might live in coal country – who may as well dress in red and gold.

I think the Rams need an upgrade in the fan base. Maybe find some fans who don’t sleep in Eeyore bedsheets.

It’s hard to say right now what the weak links are. It’s hard to say because the Rams drafting and position coaching is so good, players just emerge. So among all the replacements moving up the ranks, we honestly don’t know who to count on or who only looks good on paper and who will surprise. This last year alone Scott, Jones, Gaines, Robinson, Allen, Noteboom, Blanton, Michel, and even Kupp in his own much more elevated way came through and surprised. If I wrote before the season started that all those players would come through (with Kupp at an especially high level even compared to his past) people would think I was crazy.

We don’t know if Stafford’s bad games in 2021 just mean he needs to settle in and be more familiar with the system.

    On paper they need:

    a CB to step up

the safeties to stay healthy (though Scott & Fuller is a promising combo)

    Jones to stay healthy

Hollins to return at OLB and be decent

Noteboom to come through (though he looked good when he played)

a guard to emerge (and they do have candidates, including a really surprising one–Jackson)

TEs to stay healthy (though they seem to be stocked?!)

Woods to return, so they have more than just Kupp…maybe if he is affordable, OBJ for late in thre year?

to have healthy RBs all year

On Miller–I didn’t expect him to sign. Rams don’t have the money. I don’t like the “rental” aspect of it, but it helped them win a superbowl, and the Rams do draft well in lower rounds. So maybe it balances out.

Well, I am bummed about Von Miller, though not shocked. He made a difference, and I’m not sure they would be SB champs without him.

But I also think that if they had Woods and OBJ and Higbee and Fuller, they woulda won anyway. Miller was the difference on a team that had only one leg left to stand on.

Cam Akers should be better next season.

I think they need to replace Miller with somebody, especially with Oko gone, too. They need another Edge. And secondary everywhere.

And fer gawd’s sake, they need a punter.

Things are moving really fast today, so not sure if he’s still available. But I’d love to see the Rams sign Lorenzo Carter from the Giants. A very fast edge/olb guy, who could finally live up to his potential in LA. Sub-4.5 speed, good size, etc.

And, of course, Wagner. Those two guys would solidify the Front Seven and make losing Miller a lot easier.

Rams have eight draft picks, and a pretty good track record of finding hidden gems late. Though they also tend to lose them just as they’re coming into their own — like SJD and Oko. I wish they could have re-signed both of them.

They should also look for kick return help, and find players who double at another position. This article suggests four of them for the Rams.
