The Los Angeles Rams have traded CB Marcus Peters to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for LB Kenny Young and an undisclosed 2020 draft pick.

Young appeared in all 16 regular season games with three starts as a rookie after getting selected by Ravens in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The former UCLA standout has amassed 64 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, one pass breakup and two forced fumbles across 21 career games.

Acquired last year in a trade with the Chiefs, Peters tallied 57 total tackles, five interceptions and 12 pass breakups in 22 games with the Rams. He collected 14 tackles, two interceptions and four pass breakups through the first six weeks of this season.

I believe the Rams traded a 2 and a 4 for Peters. I wonder what pick we got back?

This move also helps our Salary Cap.

One thing is sure, this team doesn’t stand pat when they feel like they need to make an improvement.

I am glad they traded Peters. I just could not trust him.

So the starting corners are Hill and Robey-Coleman?

    Hmmm…

I haven’t watched all the games, but it looked to me like Talib had really fallen off his game. I remember from last year that he didn’t really like contact, so was already in decline. Though, weirdly enough, the stats say the Rams D was much, much better when he was on the field. I never could see it in his play, but must have missed it.

Peters? Actually glad they traded him, though I know nothing about the guy they got. Would have rather seen a second O-lineman. As in, both trades. But I’m happy to see they’re not willing to stand pat. They know something’s wrong, and they aren’t afraid to make changes.

Good to see. Hope Corbett works out at least. Obviously, it’s time now for Long and even Scott to step up. Perhaps a trade for Ramsey?

    Rams were deep at corner.

Besides Peters and Talib they had Hill, Williams, Robey-Coleman, and Long. On the practice squad, they have Dont’e Deayon.

There was a lot of good buzz about Williams.

So the starting corners are Hill and Robey-Coleman?

    Hmmm…

    Tanking for Tua?

    Hurting for Hurts?

    Yearning for Young?

    Breaking down for Brown?

    Fumbling for Fulton?

3 things to know about new Rams LB Kenny Young

3 things to know about new Rams LB Kenny Young

Marcus Peters was in the final year of his contract, and rather than waiting for him to hit free agency in March, the Rams decided to unload him in a trade. They sent him to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for LB Kenny Young and a 2020 draft pick.

Young isn’t a name universally recognized by NFL fans, but he’s a promising young player with the potential to become a future starter at linebacker. Here are three things to know about the Rams’ newest linebacker.

He was a fourth-round pick in 2018 out of UCLA

Young was a four-star recruit out of high school and wound up picking UCLA, which was far from his home in New Orleans. He was a standout for the Bruins, leading the team with 110 tackles, 8.5 of which were for a loss. He was named All-Pac-12 that year, adding a sack and three passes defensed to his stat line.

The Ravens took a chance on him in the fourth round, selecting him 122nd overall. Young started three games as a rookie in 2018, recording 2.5 sacks and 51 tackles.

He scored well at the combine last year

Young was the ninth-fastest linebacker in Indianapolis last year, running a 4.60 40-yard dash, while also finishing fifth at his position in the bench press (23 reps). His 36-inch vertical jump was seventh-best at the combine among linebackers, as well. In the short-shuttle, he finished 15th at his position with a time of 4.48 seconds.

He obviously has the athleticism to play in the NFL, it’s just about finding the right fit and him playing consistently. He fits best as a weakside linebacker, allowing him to flow to the ball rather than take on blocks on the strong side.

He battled adversity on his way to the NFL

Young didn’t have it easy growing up. According to his NFL.com draft profile, he lived with a friend when he was younger because his mom had trouble paying rent. His father was diagnosed with cancer during his sophomore season at UCLA, in the same year that his grandmother passed away.

Young is regarded as someone with high-character traits and overcoming adversity such as the events he experienced in the past are an example of his mental toughness.[

    Young is perfect for us.
He’s a gap shooting sideline to sideline LB that arrives angry and can cover. And he’s almost as fast as Littleton. 36 vert and a 4.59 or 4.6 flat 40.

I loved him at UCLA. Preferred him over Kiser.

Young. I went back into my draft notes from 2018 and found the Rams had him in for a private visit. You only get 30, so they must have had some interest at some point in early 2018.

That led me to dig into Wade’s defense a little more, and what I found was (according to articles) is that his defense is softest in the short middle of the field. He resolved this issue by using Danny Trevathan, a 6′-0″ 235 lb. athletic LBer that can move and cover, and Brandon Marshall a 6′-1″ 242 lb linebacker with enough athletic ability to make plays sideline to sideline.

My thinking is Littleton could team up with Young in base situations and solidify the softest part of the scheme. Esp. considering the addition of Ramsey should finally let Phillips unleash his type of defense.

Ramsey should allow Wade to finally play press man and to get aggressive with his front seven, combine that with the addition of Young to be able to cover more ground then Reeder or Hager in the base defense and Rapp to continue to play that big nickel backer in passing downs and Wade’s defense might finally start clicking this year.
