For our defense, we will have to play better on the back end. I assume that, or Jalen Ramsey should be hooked up on Ja’Marr Chase most of the game, but we have to also be concerned about the other talent they have in Tee Higgins, Tyler Boyd, & Drew Sample. Let’s not forget their RB’s, Joe Mixon & Samaje Perine are pretty good out of the back field as well.

Our secondary, will need to play better in this game, for us to have a chance.

All logic would point to the Rams, and honestly in fairly dominant fashion. Looks like the early lines have the Rams a 3.5 – 4 point favorite. I think that’s a short line, but it makes sense to shorten it early to get some action on the underdog.
Logically, the Bengals offensive line is still just not good, and they are about to face the best defensive lineman in the game today, who is also one of the best in history. And he’s not the only player in that front 7 – they have a-plenty. It’s going to be a long, tough day for the Bengals. That said, they still managed to win despite 9 sacks of Burrow a week ago…
I’ll be cheering for the Bengals with the knowledge that it’s going to be tough for them. As much as I like Matthew Stafford and Andrew Whitworth, I’m not a Rams fan.

    Here we go again.

Thank the gods it isn’t the Patriots…

and by the gods, I mean all of them.  Your Indian pantheon, your Babalonian pantheon, your Roman, Greek, Viking, etc.

Pray to whatever you hold holy that we win.

I already asked my recently dearly departed cat to weigh in on this.

    No holds barred, people.

Eric D :  “Stafford reminds me of Brett Favre.”

    Yes.

With Brady out of football, playing golf, and probably running as Trump’s next

VP, and Aaron Rogers probably alienating a new fan-base in the AFC,

is Stafford gonna be the best QB in the NFC?

Stafford better than Kyler?  Russell Wilson?  Trey Lance?

The Titans were ‘better’ than the Bengals.  The Chiefs were ‘better’ than the Bengals.   Now the Rams.

    stats:https://sportsnaut.com/nfl-defense-rankings/

“However, there is important context. If Cincinnati blitzes Stafford, chances are it backfires. He led the NFL in quarterback rating (131.8) when blitzed, posting an incredible 13-1 TD-INT ratio and completing 74.4% of his attempts. The Bengals aren’t a blitz-heavy defense, posting the seventh-lowest blitz rate (20.5%), this season…”

“..Donald’s 26% pass rush win rate led the league in 2021 and allowed him to finish with 86 pressures and 15 sacks. Facing him, an offensive line that ranked 30th in pass block win rate (49%)…”

    ==

“..Even if Jalen Ramsey shadows Ja’Marr Chase, which is unlikely considering how the Rams deployed their All-Pro corner this season, the Bengals can exploit other mismatches. At 5-foot-9, cornerback Darious Williams (179 receiving yards allowed in playoffs) will be on the losing end of a battle vs 6-foot-4 Tee Higgins. In the slot, Tyler Boyd can take advantage of nickel David Long Jr. (92.7 QB rating allowed when targeted)…”

It’s already been mentioned, of course. But anyone else worried about the Bengals receivers and the match-ups with our DBs?

I am. They may be the best trio the Rams have faced all year, and Burrows is exceptionally accurate.

Don’t know if the Rams have considered this, but it might be more effective to play Scott as another corner, rather than at safety. He’s their best (DB) athlete, after Ramsey, and has decent size. Not so confident in Williams or Deayon going up against the tall trees on the Bengals. Ramsey can handle Chase, but after that?

Overall, I like the Rams chances, but I don’t think this is a lock, by any means. It’s likely going to come down to Stafford playing mistake-free, and the Rams D getting to Burrow early and often. The latter can not let Burrow get comfortable in the pocket.

Oh, and the Rams need to run the ball.

Stafford is only two years younger than McVay.   Dont believe I’ve ever

heard a player say he and the coach push ‘each other to be better’.

Usually its just the coach who gets to do the pushing.

really want to see von miller and aaron donald have a huge game next week.  i think that’s the key.  the whole front seven really.

also would love to see miller come back for a couple more seasons.  i think that above stat shows he’s got plenty left in the tank.
