I’d also like to see Jimmy G back. At some point Stafford is going to miss some games, one would think.

Right now they have 153+ M in cap space for 2027. That puts them 2nd in the league to the Jets. But then, a lot of important Rams players are not under contract in 2027.

Looking at the cap, they don’t have much in 2026. But then they have key players signed.

Problem with Hav is, if they cut him or he leaves, then they actually lose nearly 7M in cap space.

The only real gainer for cap space if they cut him is Darious Wms, who would save them 7.5M.

Here’s who has an extension in 2026:

    Matt Stafford
    Davante Adams
    Alaric Jackson
    Kevin Dotson
    Kyren Williams
    Quentin Lake
    Poona Ford
    Coleman Shelton
    Colby Parkinson

This free agency class is bad. It usually is. Guys with a lot of age and there isn’t a lot of top talent. The overpays will be amazing to watch.

my not hot take is that this year’s free agent class is solid-to-good.

it lacks sizzle at the top, but its deeper. my spots 60-140 are better filled with more real starters than usual.

For teams like the Rams this free-agency-class is plenty-good. Cause the top teams only need a little tinkering. A player here, a player there.

The Rams have made their first in-house signing of the offseason, bringing OL David Quessenbery back on a one-year extension.

DQ has played at LT and RT (some guard) through his long NFL career.

Certainly a backup to Alaric Jackson, who dealt with a blood clotting issue last season. My guess is Warren McClendon’s job is safe.

Listened to a 10-minute segment on 9ers radio station this afternoon fretting about a piece Albert Breer wrote speculating on Maxx Crosby trade destinations. Apparently the Rams were one of three (?) teams he thought Crosby might get traded to. They did not love the idea of Verse on one side and Crosby on the other. I never saw the piece, but I gather it’s speculative rather than grounded in insider information, but I dunno. I would guess any such deal would include Byron Young in the trade package.

I don’t like the idea. I would rather have them pay their own developing FAs with their not-all-that-great-when-you-think-about-it cap space. Crosby would cost picks and big cap space.

Problem is that they have a bunch of guys that are going to cost big cap space. Can’t keep ’em all.

Who knows what Crosby will cost. It won’t be as much as Micah Parsons cost, I wouldn’t think. And is he a significant upgrade over Young? I dunno that. In any event, if the Rams are going to mortgage something, I’d prefer a Jalen Ramsey to a Von Miller right now. An upgrade in the secondary and a healthy season, and the Rams are going to have the shortest odds heading into the postseason.

ESPN sources: Rams and Trent McDuffie reached agreement today on a record four-year, $124 million extension that includes $100 million guaranteed and makes him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history. McDuffie gets a trade and a new deal days apart as the Rams and CAA Football finalize the agreement.

    That’s a lot of confidence.

    That’s a lot of confidence.

It averages out to a dollar per pass defensed. So…a bargain.

    Interceptions btw are free.

Though he does get an incentive bonus for every quarterback who, after playing against him, not only seeks immediate early retirement, but also legally changes his name and then permanently leaves the country. Now that could get pricey.

I guess we will just absorb the Chiefs’ secondary then.

Rams agree to sign former Chiefs CB Jaylen Watson: Sources

    March 9, 2026Updated 9:48 am PDT

Former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Jaylen Watson has agreed to a free-agent deal with the Los Angeles Rams, according to league sources.

Watson, who turns 28 in September, was 31st on The Athletic’s ranking of the top 150 free agents and the No. 3 cornerback.

The 6-foot-2 corner was a success story for the Chiefs after they selected him in the seventh round of the 2022 draft. Watson started 21 regular-season games the last two years while only missing the others because of injuries.

Also notable: After suffering a fractured ankle that cost him most of 2024, Watson rushed back ahead of his projected injury timeline, returning for the team’s playoff run that culminated with a Super Bowl 59 appearance.

Watson has given the Chiefs consistent outside cornerback play while also serving as a willing tackler in the run game. He is also versatile, showing a specific ability to thrive in man coverage thanks to his physicality.

Per Pro Football Focus, Watson was one of just two 2025 cornerbacks who played half their team’s coverage snaps and did not allow a touchdown. The other was Pittsburgh’s Joey Porter Jr.

In addition, Watson’s 69.0 quarterback passer rating allowed when targeted ranked eighth best among those 69 qualified corners in 2025.

Watson has an intriguing backstory. During college, when he was between schools and working on an academic issue, he briefly worked for his mom at a Wendy’s in Augusta, Ga., while earning $7.25 an hour. He later signed with Washington State and was drafted by the Chiefs after playing three seasons there.

On the Top 150 FA list composed by The Athletic, Roger McCreary is rated #107 and Cobie Durant checks in at #120.

I’m guessing that they’re both gone and likely to be replaced in the draft.

Or maybe the Rams will resign them, and just F them picks and not draft anybody because they don’t need to at this point.

Watson is a taller fella. That’s a couple of CB’s who can play man. Nice.

Well, its not Vonn Miller and OBJ, but its still another ‘All-In’ year for McSnead.

After they go 17-0 and then shut-out the Bills to win the Super Bowl,
I just hope they dont implode the next year, like they did last time they went All-In.

Prisco had Jaylen Watson as the no.4 free agent on the market. Behind only Tyler Linderbaum, Trey Hendrickson and Alec Pierce

Nice to see the Seahawks lose Ken Walker Jr, to the Chiefs.
Charbonnet had the ACL tear, so he might not be ready to go at the start of the season.

With McDuffie and Watson, Rams continue a trend that goes all the way back to 2017.

    They just like veteran corners.

They get them every which way you can. Big trade, modest trade, high market free agency, picking up cast offs and ronin.

The only CB they actually drafted who ever worked out even moderately was Durant.

Jaylen Watson wasn’t one of my immediate targets at corner for the #RamsHouse but it’s clear w/ him and McDuffie the Rams are ready for more man coverage and wanted to improve their physicality in the secondary.

    Completely retooling the room

    Adam Grosbard@AdamGrosbard
Team feels like Watson at 6-foot-2 provides the physicality and length the team has needed at outside corner.

Seattle seems to be getting rid of players, rather than adding them. I’m not sure that strategy is going to work for them.
