It does seem strange Ty would be turning down 5 million dollars to stay in college, unless someone assured him he would go in the first round.

Or assured him that next year there will be so many good QBs in the first round that he will drop into the 2nd or 3rd.

Been finalizing some more QB evals. This might be the least accurate class I can remember scouting. Outside of Mendoza, it has shown up on basically everyone else’s report in some form or fashion

So, if Jimmy G ends up in Arizona with Mike LaFleur, what do the Rams do about back-up QB ?

If stafford were to go out for a few weeks, do they trust Stetson Bennett as the guy?

Every game matters in a possible-ring year, as we saw this year. Home field and the bye could be on the line again, with one loss at the wrong time.

The SFO talkers were fantasizing about trading Mac Jones for some picks, and signing Kirk Cousins.

And I thought, “Kirk Cousins may not be a bad idea for the Rams.” I think the way it works – but I don’t know – is that you can sign a cut player for the vet minimum, and the team that released him has to pay the rest of the salary. So…

Either team would provide Cousins with a chance to win a ring, and I don’t think he’s likely to get a starting job anywhere. Jets, maybe?

I don’t know, but I would kick the tires on Cousins.

Who has the most upside in the NFL, Ty Simpson, Drew Allar or Carson Beck?

    Kurt Warner@kurt13warner
Simpson showed me the most this year in terms of variety of what he can do…

Beck I think is really smart and fluid as a QB, natural thrower that I like a lot, just not as much physical upside…

Allar has all the physical upside but his film doesn’t match that upside, so he has to improve the most as a player to have a chance IMO…

Much respect to @danorlovsky7 for saying it with his chest. Time will tell which one is better, but it possible the football world might be too high on Mendoza as a No.1 overall pick and too low on Simpson as QB2 (2nd round). The truth lies somewhere in the middle with each QB..

Mendoza doesn’t have a lot of “take over the game” contests on his resume, but he does have a collection of franchise QB moments. He also played for a play designer who routinely scripted “winners” utilizing creative concepts. His IQ, toughness and “clutch” genes stand out as strengths, but he is more managerial than transcendent in his play, which is ok. It’s just not typical of some over viewed as QB1 or the No.1 player in the class.

Simpson plays like a clinician from the pocket. His footwork and mechanics are polished, and he flashes plenty of precision in his play. However, his inexperience (15 starts) is a major red flag, based on recent history. Additionally, he lacks prototypical size, which makes his 2025 injuries raise durability concerns. With his slump at the end of season also raising red flags after a sizzling start, it is fair to wonder if he is a “flash in the pan” or a budding star who simply needs more time to develop.

Considering how decision makers to judged harshly on the play of the QB (SEE: Vikings’ ex-GM), the team builder handing in the card with either name runs the risk of losing their job if the gamble doesn’t work out.

That’s why the anonymous quotes and polls mean nothing unless they’re willing to hitch their jobs to their opinions..
