How would you rate Keenum as the Rams qb

Choices (add more if you want):

I am not worthy of discussing this. I just offer my humble gratitude that he is a Ram.

He is the best Rams qb since Warner & the future of the franchise

The Rams would not be winning without him

He’s a gamer who is better than you would think if you only count measurables

He has had a couple of bad games but you can win with him

He can be okay sometimes but is too limited physically

He’s a complete waste and worse than Keith Null

Fisher is only even starting him because Kroenke wants the team to lose so he can make a case for moving the Rams to China.

Hes an ok stopgap gamer, without a power-arm, who has a good feel for lofty-long passes, good student of the game, and has some nice escapability, who is working with a fairly mediocre recieving corps.

    Could you be more specific?

i like him. he’s tough. and he’ll fight to make clutch plays.

i’m thinking he isn’t the main problem. i think it’s the oline and receivers. hopefully, spruce or cooper can alleviate at least one half of that problem.

CK gives the good guys the best chance to log W’s at this time. He brings a mobility element us long suffering Ram fans have wanted. I believe he’s a natural leader that finds a way to get the job done, despite some of his physical limitations, and has the trust of the team. I don’t think he knows the word Can’t and I like that.

Now…CK has a weak arm, and I’m a strong armed QB lover, but a cannon isn’t required. It appears he’s been a little slow to process info and by the time he makes his decision he’s a half step behind. Take a look at his inaccurate throws it’s amazing how many of them are behind the receiver because he released it just a little late IMO. I would like to see him utilize his mobility a little more by taking off downfield and Boras to roll him out a little more. Not sure why they don’t roll him out more, perhaps he’s not accurate rolling out…will have to keep an eye on that.

I think my grade would be between “He’s a gamer” and “You can win with him”

I think that’s what I’d choose. I feel like he gives everything he’s got. But he’s never gonna be 6’4″ with an arm like Stafford or the wheels of Wilson.

I think Keenum makes the most of what he’s got. I just wish he had more.

    He’s kind of “Flutie-ish”.

Keenum is NOT the best Rams QB since Warner. That distinction goes to Bulger. I would rate Keenum as barely acceptable on his best day.

The upside to being a Rams fan is heartbreak.

    Sprinkles are for winners.

Correct. He doesn’t have much help. I like that he will now run for the sticks when necessary.

    Good point about leadership.

    I know.

I injected that just for the humor.

No one was going to take that option. It was just a joke to put hyperbole at the top and bottom of the poll choices.

No humor in that. Its like wondering if the Rams failed twice in drafting a franchise QB first overall in the last 6 years. Stomach in knots type of stuff.

Case Keenum makes key mistakes, prompts more Jared Goff questions

    Alden Gonzalez

    LOS ANGELES — Resume the clamoring for Jared Goff in 3 … 2 … 1 …

Case Keenum didn’t necessarily play poorly — OK, he didn’t play dreadfully — but the Los Angeles Rams quarterback made a costly mistake late and missed on what could’ve been a big play early in a 30-19 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. That’s usually enough to prompt incessant questions about when Goff, the No. 1 overall pick, will be given a shot as the starting quarterback.

Keenum completed 21 of 31 passes, but two of his incompletions loomed large. One came early in the second quarter when facing third-and-1 from the Rams’ 30-yard line. Brian Quick had two steps on his defender down the field, but Keenum badly overthrew him on a deep ball. Had he hit him in stride, it could’ve gone for Quick’s fourth touchdown in three games.

“It hurt,” Keenum said. “It hurt a lot. But you’ve got to move on. Obviously, those are plays that you learn from. Seeing him make those plays, I’ve got to give him a chance. It was a tough one.”

Case Keenum missed on a couple of throws that cost the Rams. Jeff Gross/Getty Images
A much tougher incompletion came with four minutes left in the third quarter and the score tied at 16. Facing second-and-14 from the Rams’ 31-yard line, Keenum tried to hit rookie Pharoh Cooper, who was making his debut after missing the first four games with a shoulder injury, to the right side about 10 yards out. But Keenum’s throw didn’t have nearly enough zip. Bills corner Nickell Robey-Coleman, a USC alum, jumped the route, intercepted the pass and went untouched for what became the winning score.

“I can’t do that,” Keenum said. “I can’t do that, especially in this league. Across the board, there’s guys who will make that play. I can’t put my team in that situation, obviously. The game came down to one or two plays, and that was one play that I want back.”

Keenum threw another interception — also to Robey-Coleman — in the final minutes, but that was a desperation heave while backed up in his own territory and facing fourth-and-18. The game had practically been decided by then.

It was decided by a shorthanded defense that allowed 192 yards on the ground, and it was decided by an offense that marched into enemy territory on seven of its first nine possessions but managed only one touchdown, settled for four field goals and suffered through Todd Gurley’s first fumble. Gurley gained 108 yards from scrimmage, Tavon Austin made a season-high seven catches, and Kenny Britt gained 75 yards through the air, but the Rams’ offense did not do enough on a day when it needed to carry the load.

Those things usually fall on Keenum, who has a shorter leash — or perceived leash, at least — than anybody in the NFL.

“We just got to punch it in,” said Keenum, who entered with the NFL’s second-worst Total QBR. “We hurt ourselves in the red zone again.

i still think they can win with him, and i don’t think he was the main problem.

my bigger concern right now is the oline. they do not look good.

I agree…he just has to make the correct decisions. I have to remind myself this is his first starting gig and he’s learning on the go.

I thought he was making good decisions and good throws for the majority of the game…would like to see a little more aggressive approach in the Red Zone, but they may be a coaches preference thing.

I think CK could be good enough to get this team to 10 wins….question is…will the team still be standing in tact to help get to that number?

I just thought that Buffalo is very stingy in the redzone and that there was nothing there. Not for Keenum anyway, who is a touch passer and isn’t going to laser 10 yarders between defenders.

Buffalo is 2nd best in the league in redzone TD percentage. 2nd only to Carolina. Seattle btw is 6th.

Tampa is 20th. Arizona is 27th. Detroit is 32nd.
