    https://theramswire.usatoday.com/gallery/nfl-draft-2019-best-players-available-day-2-round/

After trading out of the first round, the Los Angeles Rams now enter Day 2 of the 2019 NFL draft with an abundance of options. Many of their top targets are still on the board at positions of need, including offensive line, cornerback and safety, among others.

Here are the best players still available, sorted by position.

    OT Jawaan Taylor, Florida
One of the best offensive line prospects in the draft

    C Erik McCoy, Texas A&M
An talented center who could’ve gone in Round 1.

    OL Elgton Jenkins, Mississippi State
Would most likely play center in NFL, but brings versatility.

    OG Nate Davis, Charlotte
Powerful guard and potential Rodger Saffold replacement.

    OL Cody Ford, Oklahoma
Can play tackle or guard at the next level.

    OT Dalton Risner, Kansas State
Risner compares favorably to Andrew Whitworth, but can play guard, too.

    CB Greedy Williams, LSU
Long and fast CB with excellent man coverage skills.

    CB Byron Murphy, Washington
Can play man or zone, terrific ball skills.

    CB Rock Ya-Sin, Temple
Physical cornerback who fits nicely in Rams’ scheme.

    CB Justin Layne, Michigan State
Athletically gifted player with the skill set to play outside.

    CB David Long, Michigan
Shorter CB who thrives in press coverage.

    FS Nasir Adderley, Delaware
Rangy free safety with cornerback traits.

    SS Taylor Rapp, Washington
A versatile safety despite limited speed and range.

    FS Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, Florida
Can play any position in the secondary.

    FS Deionte Thompson, Alabama
Gambling free safety with great range.

    SS Amani Hooker, Iowa
At either free or strong safety, he’s an impact player.

    ILB Mack Wilson, Alabama
Concerns about speed and athleticism caused him to slide.

    ILB Blake Cashman, Minnesota
Rangy linebacker who plays sideline to sideline.

    ILB Jahlani Tavai, Hawaii
    Pre-draft visitor with tremendous athleticism.

    EDGE Chase Winovich, Michigan
Relentless motor and always rallies to the ball.

    EDGE Jachai Polite, Florida
Questions about work ethic but first-round tape.

    EDGE Jaylon Ferguson, Louisiana Tech
NCAA all-time sack leader with athletic limitations.

    EDGE Christian Miller, Alabama
Potential is there to become an early contributor at OLB.

    DT Trysten Hill, Central Florida
Powerful and quick 3-technique for his size.

    DT Renell Wren, Arizona State
    Elite traits but inconsistent player.

    DT Khalen Saunders, Western Illinois
Smaller nose tackle with a very high ceiling.

    DT Dre’Mont Jones, Ohio State
Fits best in a one-gap scheme thanks to his athleticism.

    DT Daylon Mack, Texas A&M
Wide nose tackle who can plug up running lanes in the middle

There are 12 picks before the Rams pick in the 2nd. I think we all saw this coming. There will be more trades, but lets think this thing thru and see if we can’t come up with 10 names or so for tomorrow.

Drew Lock – QB is going early. So now there are 11 players before the Rams pick.
Byron Murphy CB is my top CB, not top CB left, my top overall CB, he’ll be gone leaving 10 guys before the Rams pick.
Cody Ford – OG/RT – I bet he goes rel early – down to 9
DK Metcalf – I cannot imagine he lasts long on day 2 considering he is my #1 WR and #6 overall prospect. Down to 8.
AJ Brown – Alyo’s #1 WR and my #3 WR, he’s gone before the Rams pick. Down to 7.
Jawaan Taylor – a 1st round quality RT – I am shocked he lasted until day 2. He’ll be gone I have to think. Down to 6.

So with that said, these are the guys I suspect the Rams like:

    11. Chauncey Gardner-Johnson – S – Florida – 5′-11″ 210 lbs. – A scheme transcendent FS that can play man, zone and even in the slot. A rare blend of instincts, range, speed and ball skills make him a versatile defender for a teams back end.

    15. Nasir Adderley – S – Delaware – 6′-0″ 206 lbs. – Another swiss army knife FS that can play anywhere and comes with a CB background. Physical and not afraid of contact, sideline to sideline with ball skills. FCS competition isn’t much of a concern.

    17. Erik McCoy – IOL – Texas A&M – 6′-4″ 303 lbs. – An OC/OG prospect with a nice blend of power and athleticism. plays under control with good technique. power or zone fit.

    18. Dalton Risner – OT – Kansas State- 6′-5″ 312 lbs. – Mauler, a strong, nasty mauler. RT that wants to finish you play after play. Experienced with good technique. 24 years old, so a bit older. man power scheme. I like him at RT, some may like him inside.

    20. Greedy Williams – CB – LSU – 6′-2″ 185 lbs. -another big, fast (sub 4.4) Cb that plays with swagger. Fluid athlete and has good ball skills. Allergic to tackling and was a bit up and down this season. Legit #1 size, athleticism and skill set.

    21. Chase Winovich – EDGE – Michigan – 6′-3″ 256 lbs. – Under-rated speed and athleticism, high motor and high IQ, sideline to sideline defender that can play the run and the pass, 3 down defender.

    23. Rock Ya-Sin – CB – Temple – 6′-0″ 192 lbs. – great name, good, not great speed and is a bit stiff in his movement, although its not something that hinders him too much. Physical and makes plays on the ball. man corner

    25. Taylor Rapp – S – Washington – 6′-0″ 208 lbs. – a SS with ok range. He’ll earn his paycheck playing closer to the LoS and being that extra run stopper. Physical with an edge.

    26. Amani Oruwariye – CB – Penn State – 6′-2″ 205 lbs. – sub 4.5 speed, and tested out of the gym at the combine. smooth athlete that plays up to his size. Works in any scheme.

    32. Juan Thornhill -S – Virginia- 6′-0″ 205 lbs. – If your shopping for a ballhawk FS, here you go. On top of that, his combine testing was otherworldly. He doesn’t play that explosively, but he has plenty of juice. Solid tackler.

So there you have it. 10 guys and 4 should make it to the Rams. I have a feeling a couple of those Safeties and Cbs will not, but you are left with plenty of choices. If I were to guess, I would say one of these 6 guys are the Rams pick:

EriK McCoy – OC/OG in a zone blocking scheme that isn’t quite the mover Bradbury was, but is stronger and a better run blocker and offers you scheme flexibility.

Dalton Risner – If the Rams think he can play OC, he would make the OL immediately tougher. No more getting bullied by teams like Chicago, Philly and NE.

Chase Winovich – He is a perfect fit at Edge and the highest rated pass rusher left in the draft.

Rock Ya-Sin – I think he is a LA Ram type CB, a Senior and a Senior Bowl participant, they can brink him along slowly and replaces Talib next year.

Rapp/Thornhill – I think of all the S they visited, these 2 both make it to their pick and make sense. Thornhill is a ballhawking playmaker and Rapp is a SS that is a good mover that plays all over and thumps.

If I had my way, I would draft Gardner-Johnson, Adderely or Winovich. And go back and Take Nate Davis in the 3rd with a Saunders and a CB that slips.

Rams kill it, if they draft Risner at #45. Lot good players in the entire 3rd round.

    It’s hard to find a definitive list of players who have visited or had a workout with the Rams, but based on what I found on Ramswire, these are the best remaining players who have visited with the Rams;

    C Erik McCoy, Texas A&M
An talented center who could’ve gone in Round 1.

    OL Elgton Jenkins, Mississippi State
Would most likely play center in NFL, but brings versatility.

    OG Nate Davis, Charlotte
Powerful guard and potential Rodger Saffold replacement.

    OT Dalton Risner, Kansas State
Risner compares favorably to Andrew Whitworth, but can play guard, too.

    CB Justin Layne, Michigan State
Athletically gifted player with the skill set to play outside.

    CB David Long, Michigan
Shorter CB who thrives in press coverage.

    SS Taylor Rapp, Washington
A versatile safety despite limited speed and range.

    FS Deionte Thompson, Alabama
Gambling free safety with great range.

    ILB Jahlani Tavai, Hawaii
    Pre-draft visitor with tremendous athleticism.

    EDGE Chase Winovich, Michigan
Relentless motor and always rallies to the ball.

    EDGE Jachai Polite, Florida
Questions about work ethic but first-round tape.

    EDGE Jaylon Ferguson, Louisiana Tech
NCAA all-time sack leader with athletic limitations.

EDIT: Found a few more for the list.

    RB Darrell Henderson, Memphis
Slightly undersized complimentary slasher with big play ability.

    S Juan Thornhill, Virginia
Former cornerback with ball-hawking skills more suited to safety.

    OLB David Long, West Virginia
Productive but undersized, good tackler, likely WILL backer.

    ILB Vosean Joseph, Florida
Aggressive and athletic, but may lack instincts and awareness.

    WR Keesean Johnson, Fresno State
Smooth and athletic with NFL size but lacks deep speed.

    OT Trey Pipkins, Sioux Falls
Quick sets, adequate balance and anchor, small school competition.

Who do you guys want for the Rams?

I think they were wise to trade back, after the Clemson guys all came off the board, and the value for the rest of the D-line guys was no longer in the 1st Round range, basically — give or take.

I really wanted Burns or Lawrence, especially. But now, they have a shot at some DBs who do give them 1st Round value, and it’s a need. Don’t know enough about them to say who’s the best . . . but my preference generally starts with “best athlete” and youngest, all other things being equal.

Ideally — and this is, of course, all too rare — a big, seriously athletic DB. But I’ll take smaller players with speed and agility. They need to be tacklers too, though. Reports are that Greedy Williams fell because he’s not fond of tackling, and that’s not usually a helpful factor for a DB. Yes, he’s very fast, tall and athletic, and has excellent ball skills, but if a DB doesn’t like to tackle . . . . Umm, that’s not good.

    ;>)

Going a bit against the grain, I’d love to see the Rams draft Hakeem Butler later. 6’4″ and some change, with long arms and huge hands, he wins jump balls. Strong vert, sub-4.5 speed. Would be an excellent Red Zone/matchup nightmare.

Of course, the Rams are loaded at wideout. But they really don’t have a great jump ball guy. So it would further juice their offense. But the 2nd round probably belongs to DBs or guards this time.

    Thoughts?

I think they can go any combination of (alphabetical order) these positions and do fine: CB, OLB/edge, DL, safety, OL. Which, I know, is breaking news. There are hints they may sneak a running back in there.

Rams (as most know) have a fantastic record with 3rd round picks.

I heard that they wanted the CB, Baker, but he got taken at #30.
    .
Some players I like, especially Risner.

    19. OT Dalton Risner, Kansas State
    26. C Elgton Jenkins, Mississippi State
    27. S Nasir Adderley, Delaware
    29. Edge Chase Winovich, Michigan
    33. CB David Long, Michigan
    34. OT Greg Little, Ole Miss
    36. CB Amani Oruwariye, Penn State
    39. CB Justin Layne, Michigan State

i’m warming up to the idea of solidifying that center position.

risner is particularly interesting because he could fill in at guard as well. i don’t know if mccoy could do that. i think he could because he’s got the size and athleticism.

or even if they could play guard and replace blythe with allen playing center. i’m tending towards wanting to strengthen the lines whether that be defensive or offensive.

but if they decide to go defensive back i won’t be disappointed. that already happened when tillery came off the board.
