Report: Rams restructure Johnny Hekker's contract, create $968K in cap space

The Los Angeles Rams were pressed right up against the cap after signing Ndamukong Suh and trading for Brandin Cooks, who together will cost about $23 million in 2018 alone. In order to create some much-needed space, the Rams restructured Johnny Hekker’s contract, according to Field Yates of ESPN.

It’s not much, but the Rams went from having less than $500,000 in cap space to almost $1.5 million. They’ll have to continue creating space in order to sign their upcoming draft class, which will likely cost at least $2 million.
A few other players who could potentially restructure their contracts are Andrew Whitworth, Michael Brockers and Robert Woods, though it’s unclear if the Rams will go that route to free up some money.
