In a matter of months, the Los Angeles Rams have managed to completely revamp their receiving corps, turning it into a unit of strength. They did so by signing Robert Woods, trading for Sammy Watkins and drafting Cooper Kupp.
They join Tavon Austin on the Rams’ depth chart and will all be key contributors this season. When it’s all said and done, though, Kupp could wind up being the most productive of the bunch. He’s already emerged as the team’s most reliable target, leading the NFL in quarterback passer rating on balls thrown his way.
He’s caught eight of 10 targets for 105 yards and a touchdown this preseason, which is a solid stat line for just two games and very limited action. Jared Goff seems to be getting very comfortable with his rookie receiver, which is great for his overall confidence.
There’s simply nothing like having a guy you can lean on in a tight spot to make a big catch, which is what Kupp seems to do. His route running and sure hands make him a very intriguing player for the Rams, who have a great deal of depth at wide receiver all of a sudden.
