The Los Angeles Rams looked much more like the team everyone expected them to be this season when they crushed the New York Giants on Monday night, 28-6. It helped that the Rams were back at home at SoFi Stadium and saw the return of Aaron Donald on defense, but they played well from start to finish regardless.

NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger put them in the spotlight for his “Baldy’s Breakdowns” series on social media this week, highlighting several parts of their win over the Giants. He broke down the play of Donald in his debut, raved about Davante Adams’ 195-yard game, showed how well the O-line is protecting Matthew Stafford and gave Colby Parkinson his flowers for blocking in the run game.

Aaron Donald

Donald had three tackles, one of which went for a loss, and one pressure in the win, looking every bit like the guy who left the NFL for retirement nearly three years ago. He’s still incredibly quick and powerful, which Baldinger put on display in his breakdown.

Davante Adams

Baldinger says Adams put on a “one-man show” against the Giants, questioning why the Giants played such soft coverage against him. Adams made several spectacular catches in the win, scoring two touchdowns and coming just 11 yards shy of a career-high.

Pass protection

Stafford was barely touched against the Giants, who landed only two hits on the Rams quarterback. The pass protection was excellent on Monday night, much better than it was in the opener against the 49ers.

Baldinger lauded the job that the Rams’ offensive line did against New York, pointing out how none of their linemen are first-round picks. He was particularly impressed by Alaric Jackson and Warren McClendon Jr.

Colby Parkinson

Parkinson hasn’t been heavily involved as a receiver thus far, but the job he’s done blocking in the run game is admirable. He was a big reason Kyren Williams and Blake Corum each rushed for 79-plus yards against the Giants.

“That man Colby Parkinson, at the point of attack, is blocking as well as any tight end in this league,” Baldinger said.
